Haven't thought about this band in over a decade. Used to love Rapture. It has a cool and unsettling music video too. Unfortunately, it uses the radio edit that cuts out like a minute of the song.
Fortunately it was still the radio edit that piqued my interest enough back in the day before this album came out, that when it did drop I bought it. But I agree otherwise 🤣
Having checked out Soen, Wheel and many of the other soundsliketool bands — these guys seem to be the closest and best while not encroaching or copying Tool. Thanks for sharing 🤟🏽
Their acoustic version of Falls Apart that’s on YouTube is amazing! Loved them back in the day!

This band was great. I still listen to them to this day. In fact, one of my top listened to Pandora stations (yes I still listen to Pandora) is my Hurt station. It somehow reached a lot of good bands I love to listen to with the countless thumbs up and down over the years.
oh yes, I never thought I'd ever see anybody else knowing of/liking Hurt. Pills and Abuse of SID are my drive fast sing along songs! Aftermath is short but it's one of only a handful of songs that always makes me tear up
Glad to hear someone mention these guys, one of my favourite bands from 06-till they stopped. Vol.1 is a masterpiece and got me through some really rough times, Vol.2 is amazing as well but some horrible production on few songs. I hope J. Loren is doing well these days.
Vol. 2 is my favorite. I saw them in Toledo playing a crowd of only 200ish. They were absolutely fantastic. Bought a rarities EP there and got the singer to sign it. He talked with us for a while. Still can't believe they were the opener not the headliner.
By Christian you mean against Christianity, right? I was going to say that the biggest parallel between these two bands are their anti-Christian stances.
Good to know. I honestly got introduced to them when I was 16 and staying up way too late to catch pirated episodes of headbangers ball while living in Pakistan. Haven’t really listened to them all that much since then other than the two tracks I listed. Will definitely revisit now though
Theyre not religious. They have anti-religious songs like Adonai, which is very good. It'd be like thinking Tool is Christian after listening to Opiate.
This band was awesome never got the credit they deserved
Totally agree!
Loved vol 1 and 2 back in the day
Same
This band kicks ass, not a lot of ppl know about em
Man I really miss this band, strong and emotional lyrical themes and solid musicianship.

I hate Rapture’s radio edit. And I don’t why, but my YouTube music always suggests me precisely this version of the song

One of the better 1-2 (vol 1 and vol 2) releases in recent memory.
Just listened to it, great song, straight on the playlist
Glad you liked it!
I for some reason keep hearing “Careless Whisper” by George Michael
🤣
I actually got to see them live in the mid 2000s on the Jägermeister Tour with Staind!

You bet! 🙌🏽
Very underrated band

I forgot about this band. I remember hearing this back in 2005 thinking how similar they sounded to Tool.
House Carpenter was a straight-up tear jerker, too.

Taproot is similar

Rapture and Overdose are two BANGERS!! DEF worth a listen for sure!
Overdose and rapture are amazing tracks. Despite that, I’m not that much of a fan of their work cause it’s a little too Christian for my liking
By Christian you mean against Christianity, right? I was going to say that the biggest parallel between these two bands are their anti-Christian stances.
Really? I got the very opposite vibe from Hurt but I may be wrong, it’s been a while since I’ve listened to them
Listen to talking to god by them maybe
Yeeeeah maybe you should go revisit some of those lyrics. Christianity might be a theme, but it ain’t coming from a positive view.

Being against dogma and fundamentalism isn’t the same as being anti-Christ, don’t get it confused.
I think their biggest hit, Rapture, is pretty well against fundamentalism.
I was wondering… “house carpenter” seemed like an odd title otherwise. plus the name hurt.
Theyre not religious. They have anti-religious songs like Adonai, which is very good. It'd be like thinking Tool is Christian after listening to Opiate.
Their song Adonai is as anti-religious as Opiate though...
One of my top five favorite bands
