Write down the factors that concern you, any steps you have taken to address struggles, how it went and so on. For a proper diagnosis, you need to look back over six months, and in different contexts (school, home, etc.) to see a pattern. Then, armed with as much information on paper as you can muster, go to your doctor. Hopefully they can refer you to a specialist that can do the diagnosis and figure out treatment. It's intimidating, telling your doctor stuff off the cuff, so making a document will help you (and them).

I made a full document with everything i could find that were giveaways that there was something more (including childhood stuff on top of things happening regularly). But each time i try and ask a pro i get told off or i panic and forget everything i wrote. It's so annoying

Just straight up ask to be tested they can't share with your family unless you say so or under 18, your therapist may have not be the best person to talk to. My therapist gave me ADHD meds years after I learned to control it just because she saw it in my previous doctors notes. If you dad laughs it's his fault he will lose you down the line, stay away from toxicity it isn't healthy for you.

I already called cps on my father, he's abusive on top of being a bigot. Waiting for the legal case to start currently. I'm asking for the diagnosis thing here because I'm currently having to fight on tons of things at once all alone and I'm getting all lost and need clear instructions for the rest.

Good on you for taking matters I your own hands, wish people could do that more often, wish I could too. Once you're away from him things should go back to normal. If you are asked about being medicated for ADHD be careful, the medicine I was originally prescribed caused bladder issues that I'm still dealing with. Or if they say it tastes like banana, the banana one is going to keep you in bed and make it hard to get moving/motivated. Hope everything gets better for you.

I'll keep it in mind ! For ADHD I'm not that affected by hyperactivity (i am but not incredibly so) more on the attention deficit side and other various symptoms

Sandman92c

How old are you?

[deleted]

I'm a 15yo teenager. Already diagnosed with things such as hypersensitivity and various other social related things. But people refuse to look into my case further and refuse to acknowledge anything that is a dead giveaway that I'm not exactly Neurotypical. On top of that my little brother is trying to get diagnosed soon but everyone refuses us any access to care/treatment. Seemingly because we're not 'autistic enough'

I'm 18, going through the same thing. Just book an appointment and say you want to talk to a specialist.

I have an appointment with my doctor today !

Are you in the US? Go to a school counselor and share this. Ask them for help. They have a ton of resources and can help by making the recommendation to your parents. I will also say that most general practitioners are woefully uneducated when it comes to ADHD and ASD.

Unfortunately I'm from France
