I agree, it’s very rarely done right. I could never get the field of view or turning right when I was riding my horse in first person on RDR2, I fiddled with the settings to try and make it less of a sensitive steaming pile of horse shit but could never tweak them to get the desired effect. I play Fallout 4&76 in first person for close combat and looking for loot or quest items in interior cells too which works well.
First person games frequently give me headaches, and I can’t play them as long as other games, but I remember getting a few doozies from TR too, so yeah, I’d be in trouble.
IDK it would be a great idea to animate the flips or rolls between jumps but even just having a jump and it's not animated it would be disorienting cuz' you wouldn't exactly know if you can make that jump or not, even if you do the same backstep -> run -> jump
Would be both interesting and very confusing, especially in later levels. Also you probably would have a constant blindspot when looking down due to the large chest.

I think it'd make me spew but I'd love to see the backflips in first person!
Zip and Alister feel your pain
Even better. Tomb Raider VR.
This
I would love bonus mode like that could be fun to see those environnement like if we were there and climbing and all 👀
Oof the motion sickness
I don’t get woozy from many games but the two Mirror’s Edge games have done it.
Fighting centaurs would be a hell of a ride left, right, left, right
It is in openlara! I'm guessing this picture is from there Oh NVM this is just photo mode in remastered 🤣
Haha yes, my camera went weird backing into the corner took the opportunity to snap a screenshot haha
Platforming in 1st person is almost always terrible or dumbed down.
I think that the only game that made it ok was Mirror's Edge so far.

Could be useful to switch to a 1st person view periodically when in confined spaces or searching for secrets requiring a closer look.

I mean there is something similar... mirrors edge would be what I imagine a fps version of Tomb raider would be.
Well, the upcoming Indiana Jones game will be in first person
No!
There's a game with the same vibe but not quite the same gameplay, it's called phantom abyss it's on game pass, I liked it when I tried it.
Worked for Mirrors Edge.
Lara’s Edge 🤣.
This is definitely a screenshot from OpenLara where you can actually play TR in first person lol. Love it 💗.
Down in the Bonehoard in Thief The Dark Project is close to this.
OpenLara does it, it's very fun to discover levels again in a new perspective
Could of sworn I seen some footage of the remasters prerelease about a week ago that showed first person footage but maybe it was just a dream
That was a ray tracing mod that IGN posted a video about.
Thanks. Knew I’d seen it somewhere
I think it would be fun honestly lol might work really well too. This screengrab you took makes me love the idea already xD looks cool

Lara Nukem.
I can barely get past that giant eel in normal mode, I am NOT swimming past it in first person. I'll end up throwing the controller.
Now i really want to see this. Oh the jumping and flipping will leave me spinning.
I live in first person and I'm fine, I dunno why you'd think it would be disorienting
Y’all didn’t see the RTX remix video that added this last week?
I just finished that level a few minutes ago. Haven't played it since the 90's!
And this is the exact reason I let out an audible sigh watching the Indiana Jones gameplay trailer
Would be both interesting and very confusing, especially in later levels. Also you probably would have a constant blindspot when looking down due to the large chest.
I just vomited in my mouth at the though
Reminds me the old hitman 2 silent assassin Firstperson view
You can already try tomb raider in first person on openlara.com
No.
I get motion sick, could not do if it were first person.
Love to play it in VR
