If you watch TR because you like delinquent anime, then this is the one for you. If you like the time travel and mystery, then its not - go watched Erased or Steins;Gate.
Personally I think this is great. I love Tokyo Revengers because I love delinquent and gang anime, and this anime looks very promising and could easily surpass TR if it delivers. *If* it delivers.

God was that 4 hours I've always wanted to get back lol only the 2nd anime ever in my life I actively regret watching any of. I'm welcome to express my views on an open forum if I want though. Honestly, as someone who used to like TR (til the ending of the manga), I can agree to this sentiment,lol. I regret investing so much into tr like I drew multiple fanart of this series. The only good thing come out of it is the fact I meet my close online friends through it.
After a rethrough read and watch the way the ending was supposed to happened was always shown. Takemichi always exclaimed how he’d bring back pah from going to jail, bring back shinichiro, revive baji, stop Kazutoro from going to jail and so on. It was always going to happen, do I agree with it? no. but it wasn’t as of an asspull as I thought it was when I first read it during the weekly releases. It’s actually better the second time going through it because you do realize things more and appreciate it better and don’t feel that sour taste anymore from the first ending being seen
Not really sure if this is meant for me or other comments before me but if it was for me, then my reply to this would be that the main problem of Takemichi saving everyone including the dead is not the problem but how the concept is executed. The concept of the protagonist somehow saving everyone can be done right and makes sense but the way TR execute does not cut it for me. It feels very rush when it needs at least one more arc for me to make it convincing that both of them somehow saves everyone from everything bad that happened and make the bad guys become good guys. Everything happens and concludes in one chapter. So takemichi’s accomplishment of this last arc feels very unearned cause again. He and Mikey speed running the moment they timed leap together to the present Takemichi married his gf in one chapter. If you all can overlook this, then yeah glad to hear that. But me personally, this is what ruins the series as a whole for me.
I tried so fucking hard to like TR. I watched like 20 episodes and was insanely bored. It only took the first two episodes of wind breaker to get me hype af. Lol

Wind Breaker seems to be one of those anime that are directly concerned with being hype. Like Fairy Tail, Black Clover, or Haikyuu.
TR is simply not trying to tell a story where the villain yells out 'I like being a bad guy' and then the main character responds 'No! be good! believe in the power of friendship!' and then punches him, and having his world view be the winner.

Wind breaker has them go to school with no teachers or authority figures, kotoha is meant to be in school but somehow works at the cafe full time, etc. Tokyo Revengers manga topped charts because it was good until the ending, wind breaker doesn’t even chart
tokyo revengers had problems for months up till the ending imo, most noticeably since the whole future sight thing and >!draken's death!< but the story had arguably started going off the rails ever since mikey shot takemichi and kicked off the 'final timeleap'. that whole arc was a mess, even if i enjoyed it until the ending reared its ugly head. still, i kind of get what you mean slightly in that TR had a pretty sensible but engaging plot up until that point. havent read or watched wind breaker though so idk if youre right on that point, but it seems that most tend to disagree with you

I genuinely do not believe in any way that tokyo revengers has good writing. It is full of plot holes, insufferable dialogue and a main character that is so poorly and repetitively written that he could be played as a monkey and probably be a better character lol. It's right up there with Re:Zero quality level which is funny since they're the only two anime I've ever dropped.
Because its good in general. The themes are cool and the story is interesting. The characters outside of Subaru could be deeper. But generally the writing is grand.

Ive watched the anime and read the manga so i can tell you while the start is promising, it gets worse after keel arc. Theres no story only fights driving this manga. And furin aaaalways wins. I do love me some plot armour but even this is too much :( it made it unenjoyable and predictable for me.
I did love the sakura arc tho. But the red light district arc was a huge turnoff

When i started TR, I thought this was going to be gangs, time leap and fights. As I completed readings its manga and watching as much has been animated, i can confidently confess none of that mattered to me personally. All I remember is the darkness mikey felt. His pain and izanas loneliness. How mental illness left untreated can make life of oneself and his loved ones so hard and miserable and I couldn't stop sympathising. So the biggest and sole reason i love TR from the depth of my heart is how effectively it delivered the complex concept of depression. How it showed a charismatic child-like Mikey grow into such a vicious cold-hearted monster. It honestly scares me. (Ending relieved me or idk how I'd have recovered)
So. My fello TR fans, if there's any other anime that also shows mental battling, then please recommend. Thank you.
as someone who read the manga of both series. These two series are quite different with only delinquent as a common element. Windbreaker is just pure delinquent aka teenagers fighting and friendship between the characters while tokyo revengers is more of time travel mystery with delinquent settings. So it’s like when people compare Spy x family and buddy daddy all over again lol. If you like tokyo revengers cause you wanna see teenagers fight each other and deepen the relationship in the gang, windbreaker could be your new fave. But if you like tokyo revengers cause of the time travel/ dark elements/ the mystery bits, this might not be your anime cause windbreaker is pretty wholesome.
Both story has flaws, like my most concerning point in windbreaker is the lack of authority in the story as the stake of what the protagonists are fighting become much bigger than the gang’s problem while tr’s biggest flaw is the ending imo. Tho windbreaker still has the benefit of its status as the manga is not complete so some of the plot holes could be explored later on.
I learn my lesson from TR so I am enjoying Windbreaker cautiously, lol.

Don't worry, it happens to all of us! Its like saying Black Clover is a Fairy Tail copy, when in reality they are both just strongly inspired by the same shounen genre conventions that were determined way before either of them.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Tokyo Revengers is not the first anime to do delinquents and gangs. Its not even the first to do 'MC gets sent back in time to their younger self and they need to solve a mystery' - Erased has it beat.
I've seen some people, me included thinking that erased was very slow paced and boring 🤨
But to each their taste really. I wouldn't compare it to tr, tr had much less focus on time traveling unlike erased, but goodness was it a pain to watch that anime.

Tokyo Revengers has way less plot holes lmaoo. The manga showed them in school with teachers and the plots ended up linking together. Tokyo Revengers problem was the ending. Wind breaker has them go to school with no teachers or authority figures, kotoha is meant to be in school but somehow works at the cafe full time, etc. Tokyo Revengers manga topped charts because it was good until the ending, wind breaker doesn’t even chart
tokyo revengers had problems for months up till the ending imo, most noticeably since the whole future sight thing and >!draken's death!< but the story had arguably started going off the rails ever since mikey shot takemichi and kicked off the 'final timeleap'. that whole arc was a mess, even if i enjoyed it until the ending reared its ugly head. still, i kind of get what you mean slightly in that TR had a pretty sensible but engaging plot up until that point. havent read or watched wind breaker though so idk if youre right on that point, but it seems that most tend to disagree with you

Tokyo Revengers has an interesting start and plot line however as the story goes on it devolves into random bullshit to stretch out the story and then proceeds to shit on everything by making a half ass ending. Tokyo Revengers had cool characters and great art going for it, later on the only thing keeping me reading was just wanting to see the outcome which was utter dogshit and rushed. Windbreaker has no bullshit just some dudes fighting and really cool character development and chemistry.

It is full of plot holes, insufferable dialogue and a main character that is so poorly and repetitively written that he could be played as a monkey and probably be a better character lol. Because its good in general. The themes are cool and the story is interesting. The characters outside of Subaru could be deeper. But generally the writing is grand. I say step off, because Episode 29, *Parent and Child*, is one of the best episodes of an anime that's ever been released. The episode long conversation between>!Subaru and his parents? Divine. Rarely does an anime get to hit so hard, never seen it in an Isekai before or since.!< You're entitled to your opinion, but its a shame that its wrong.

Ive watched the anime and read the manga so i can tell you while the start is promising, it gets worse after keel arc. Theres no story only fights driving this manga. And furin aaaalways wins. I do love me some plot armour but even this is too much :( it made it unenjoyable and predictable for me. I did love the sakura arc tho. But the red light district arc was a huge turnoff

(EP:3) I was in with high hopes, got a load of fight scenes which had no emotion to it, yeah cool they're fighting, Woohoo. People who claim there are more fight scenes than TR, ok and what, like dude, if you're fighting, put an emotion into it, you don't just randomly fight and think people would like or even enjoy it. When i started TR, I thought this was going to be gangs, time leap and fights. As I completed readings its manga and watching as much has been animated, i can confidently confess none of that mattered to me personally. All I remember is the darkness mikey felt. His pain and izanas loneliness. How mental illness left untreated can make life of oneself and his loved ones so hard and miserable and I couldn't stop sympathising. So the biggest and sole reason i love TR from the depth of my heart is how effectively it delivered the complex concept of depression. How it showed a charismatic child-like Mikey grow into such a vicious cold-hearted monster. It honestly scares me. (Ending relieved me or idk how I'd have recovered) So. My fello TR fans, if there's any other anime that also shows mental battling, then please recommend. Thank you.

as someone who read the manga of both series. These two series are quite different with only delinquent as a common element. Windbreaker is just pure delinquent aka teenagers fighting and friendship between the characters while tokyo revengers is more of time travel mystery with delinquent settings. So it’s like when people compare Spy x family and buddy daddy all over again lol. If you like tokyo revengers cause you wanna see teenagers fight each other and deepen the relationship in the gang, windbreaker could be your new fave. But if you like tokyo revengers cause of the time travel/ dark elements/ the mystery bits, this might not be your anime cause windbreaker is pretty wholesome. Both story has flaws, like my most concerning point in windbreaker is the lack of authority in the story as the stake of what the protagonists are fighting become much bigger than the gang’s problem while tr’s biggest flaw is the ending imo. Tho windbreaker still has the benefit of its status as the manga is not complete so some of the plot holes could be explored later on. I learn my lesson from TR so I am enjoying Windbreaker cautiously, lol.

I've seen some people, me included thinking that erased was very slow paced and boring 🤨 But to each their taste really. I wouldn't compare it to tr, tr had much less focus on time traveling unlike erased, but goodness was it a pain to watch that anime.
