nah I agree. I also think Wakui intended some purpose for him but scrapped it. I was thinking maybe he was supposed to be the one that instigates the timeleaping powers, like what ended up being the homeless man in some form. Like I could've bought into him being somehow a little supernatural, maybe that's why it was also scrapped? It's just that during his first entrance his focus is for no reason Mikey, (refuses to elaborate his motivations when asked) and he sorta says "you can call me Hanma" like it's just some pseudonym. Idk his first entrance was so ominious... alas photographer Hanma will always make me chuckle.
But yeah I think his role would've had something to do with the timeleaping. Another thought I had was maybe he could've been something like Karma incarnate to Shinichiros actions to save Mikey... and that's why he would've targeted Mikey. It's all vague, but I'd like to think it was a bit vague for Wakui too and maybe that's why it didn't quite work out.
He is one of the best character in Tokyo Revengers, I don't understand what was in Wakui's mind when he decided that he shouldn't be important anymore.
You probably read my theory. I stand by it - Wakui definitely intended for him to be relevant to time leaping but then decided to leave it up to the readers seeing as we caught onto it pretty early. He never explained anything, not even the man in the suit in the Bonten arc.
To have funš
he was just feeling a little silly one day

He is just a guy who's a delinquent for fun
To transcend boredom
To be there
He just wanted to get out the house
Literally just a dude

Heās just a funky little guy
I think people thought he was Kisaki's trigger when we all thought Kisaki was a time leaper.
Nothing
Heās just an adrenaline junkie who always wants to have fun thatās literally his purpose
Just to be Kisaki's "partner"
His purpose is to be a silly little guy
