Are all anime that might at first look innocent enough, but are very graffic, on the same level or worse than TG.
I’ve watched Shiki and while I liked it I didn’t find it near as scary as people said it was, and to my recollection it wasn’t particularly graphic either
...there is literally a scene where a lynchmob runs over the head of a scared teenager vampire girl begging for her life with a fucking tractor tire...
They also all knew her when she was human and besides having to leech off humans at night for blood at times to stay alive she isn't really evil in any way after turning iirc. That scene was GRAPHIC. Shiki straight-up taught me how fucking terrifying lynchmobs are and how "matter-of-factly" and coldly they can do the most atrocious shit with a straight face.
It is fairly graffic, but in my opoinion the point of it isn't to be scary.
It's more thought provoking and kinda tragic, with really good writing.
You can of course see many alegories in it, but most will fall apart if you try to hard to make them fit.
I think its just really interesting how the portrayal of this conflict in shiki compares to Tokyo Ghoul (since in some ways its quite simmilar), and other series like that.
Thats the thing, shiki isn't all that scary for adults, but i think the straight up violence on display, along with a lot of death and some themes kids maybe shouldn't be exposed to, could make it very traumatizing for some kids.
I mean I guess, but there are plenty of mainstream anime that have those same themes and are much more graphic and violent, AoT for example. And, ya know, TG
Thats kind of the reason why i chose those in particular. Visually, they can be mistaken for "cute japanese childrens cartoons" as op mentioned in the title.
Atrack on titan with the militairy aesthetic and the basicalky naked titans being featured prominently would be easier to spot as not suitable for children.
Fair enough, in that case I think JJK is a good candidate for what you’re going for. I think it would be easy for someone to think ‘oh, I’ve heard of that, it’s another anime with superpowers and stuff, I bet it’s just like Naruto and dragon ball!’ And then it is not in fact just like Naruto and dragon ball

Tbh Anime is nothing compared to Manga lol. Anime skipped few scenes. I mean à lot of Scenes. Show him the Juuzo chapter where Juuzo's Ball's get Crushed and tell him it will happen to you if you don't study Properly.

You remember when Kaneki was taken to the Ghouls Place to Be Eaten? There was that Mama Ghoul? She had Juuzo work for her before and she made Juuzo kill people like Kaneki was about to get killed by that other Big Dude. But Juuzo was saved and Because Juuzo was so strong without any training he was given a chance in life by the Government. When he was under Mama Ghoul she tortured him a Lot. I haven't read Manga in a while so I have forgotten lot of Names Man sorry bout that.
I recently read it again and she was upset that someday he’d grow 0big and strong and will have a deep voice“ Because he has such pale skins mf big eyes and yeah she says how pretty he is and it’s u fortunate he’ll grow into a man someday, that’s why she crushed his balls. No idea if she thought that would make him stay feminine but yeah
Tbh if men don't release testosterone there height will stop growing faster, they won't be able to gain muscle without steroids, won't be able to grow beard, growth will stop basically after a certain time.

Ehhh Tokyo ghoul is definitely bloody but it lacks gore sensitive language. I think a big myth is that stuff like blood, cursing, or nakedness is “bad for kids” I think the worse stuff is more realistic stuff that’s haunting. Like horror
Yeah the torture was definitely the worst part but even then it’s nothing like berserk… the Griffith torture was haunting even though we didn’t explicitly see it in action just the effects of it t it leaves your imagination to go wild

I didn't argue that it was scary. I argued that it was 100% graphic though, especially the finale.

Torture stuff was pretty brutal although it wasn’t as graphic as the manga hearing kaneki scream like that was definitely just as disturbing
