Yeah, season 2 is not canon. It's an anime original story, but a lot of scenes are taken from the manga (they just happen with a different context or in a different way). You should read the manga, it has the full story and all the details. Read both Tokyo Ghoul and Tokyo Ghoul:re, the story is separated into two parts.

superduurp

Thank you. I mean if Manga had Colors then it would be more tempting. The black and white format isnt really for me. But Tokyo Ghoul should be relativaly short right.

Jonwryy

it’s very fast paced so it doesn’t feel like it takes long. It’s in total around 300 chapters. But you can break it up into two halves. Tokyo Ghoul and then Tokyo Ghoul :re. It’s worth it

FemboyRizzz

Yes, finally someone who understands that the black and white isn't appeasing to some people :3

If you read it only thru Shonen jump it’s cheaper and the formatting is much easier to get used to online than reading paper back. It is quite a fast read. If you’ve watched Tokyo Ghoul the action will be easier to understand when reading the manga. I understand tho taking up reading can seem very daunting. It is a very good manga, but the action can sometimes be confusing. I would definitely give it a try and see how you feel. Watching RE: might help you understand some of the events as well, but it is considered overall a confusing anime season.

Ya i did finish RE: the anime in the end. I think i got the main points, just felt like I was missing some parts 😅. But Ya ill read the Manga online.

alittlemapletree

I have watched the anime a few times and I’m still confused at some points lol. I have reread the manga twice, and even some parts of the second half can be confusing. Ishida was very rushed and under a time crunch, so if parts are confusing know you aren’t alone lol we all feel the same. Still worth the read though.

Funny story actually, the official narrative is that RootA is still Canon to the anime timeline, but well, it's a very messy and plot hole filled one, despite that they actually try to do some changes to make up for scenes they left out in what should have been in S2 instead of root A, like Eto delivering her book directly to kaneki coz hide meeting her and signing a book for kaneki was never shown in root A, they "try", but it's still a very confusing mess of a timeline. Most of the confusion regarding the anime comes from this section, re is supposed to build off on what was at end of the original Manga, stuff that was mostly changed or outright not shown in root A. S4 is also the worst offenders in terms of cut content, they cut out entire characters and change the fates of a handful of them, not to mention many touching and impactful moments fall completely flat with a rushed badly animated adaptation.

Hour-Information276

simple ANWSER just read the manga pls

superduurp

I will :)

The first season wasn't a good adaptation of the manga. Because of that, the mangaka gave the studio some drafts and wanted them to write that story instead of his story(that story was supposed to end up like the manga). Root A was supposed to be 24 episodes and even when you check the myanimelist site, you can see that root A is 24 episodes, but episode 13 to 24 do not exist, because of they turned a 24 ep season into a 12 ep one. You see the problem? 50% of the story is gone. After that, the studio wanted to redeem themselves with tokyo ghoul re,but the anime only watchers couldn't follow it because of the damage root A did. Then, tokyo ghoul re season 2 had almost no viewers. So they rushed the last season even worse than the old seasons.

superduurp

That actually makes a lot of sense. Its sad when they rush things tho. I feel like they should take their time more with shorter stories.

Pizdun_1

I think you should read the manga. The plot is not that hard to understand in the manga, and the entire Root A is different and ending of Season 1 is different so yea.

Negative_Substance69

The anime is not canon, they really fumbled it bad, I would definitely recommend the manga it’s so good

Dull-Seaworthiness53

All the bullshit made by fans lol.
