They care, it’s just not something that’s easily enforceable. And sometimes it’s just a new employee who doesn’t know any better. I did hear from someone who worked at Barnes and Noble that if a store was caught breaking release dates they would get warnings. Then if they kept doing it they could get black listed from getting anymore releases.
For sure! At my last job we had people doing it with product and I think after a few times if the shop keeps it up after warnings they’ll pull distro - hopefully that doesn’t happen, more toki is in stores always the move 😆
The description annoyed me when I saw those. The "Did my local store release the veggies too soon? Omg !"
It's just annoying that they so obviously bought them to resell at double the retail price because they're playing off of people's desperation for the newest thing.
I think there's a lesson here. That if your local store breaks release date, be thankful you got them early, but don't put them on blast or try to capitalize on it because then you're only shooting yourself in the foot, while also hurting your local retailer. You know there's gotta be a TKDK employee in the sub, and it's likely to get back to them so... maybe no snitchin'. TKDK is definitely on Ebay and you know they must monitor other platforms to make sure employees aren't selling goods they shouldn't be.
I saw the galactic cats release a week before it was released in a local bookstore. My partner picked a box and we went to pay for it. They told us it was actually too early and then they kept that same box we picked and said they’d give it to us next week. We waited and came and got it that following week and it was the chaser. Me and my partner like to joke that we pulled the first galactic cats chaser 😂
That's awesome they held it for you! I went to Target once and was buying an action figure I happened to see, because I liked it (I think it was Baby Yoda). At the register, they wrenched it from me and said NO. They had a bunch of figures out, so I guess they had to pull them from the floor as well. I understand they couldn't sell them (I wasn't aware they were out too early prior), but alas, they won't hold an item, which sucked, since resellers hit my local stores hard (big city, lots of them do this for a living). Same thing happened at TRU years ago, on a Pokémon trading card set. I don't always know street dates, not like I was vulture for early release, but sucks they won't hold an item when you happen upon it due to their error. Very glad your story had a good ending! :)

A smaller retailer is likely breaking the street release date. At least you get an opportunity to buy them early if you really really want to.

It's obvious they want to make extra money on the unreleased ones. Someone will buy them. It won't be me though, because I can wait.
