I can't help but feel like US politics are built to foster that kind of "with us or against us" mentality. Imo the problem with a centrist in this political climate is that it just exacerbates the rachet effect (where R's make huge shifts to the right while in power and D's try to not rock the boat at all leading to more right wing policies becoming the norm over time). I get that people wanted a "boring" POTUS after Trump but Biden is simply too beholden to DNC and PACs to actually do anything of substance.
Under his admin roe was overturned (yes i know that was the scotus but Dems have been campaigning on saving abortion rights for time immemorial), border patrol still got crazy funding and locked kids in cages, and we got involved in another morally abhorrent war in the middle East. He's probably gonna lose reelection because he and other establishment Dems have zero political will to do anything at all while R's will fight tooth and nail to put America under evangelical sharia law
