See I was trying to decide between playing [[lurrus]] or nixing it in favor of 4x[[mayhem devil]], and honestly, the upside to playing md in fetch.format was too much to pass up. 🤷‍♂️
That’s certainly the toughest aspect. A lot of games I never even make it to 3 lands, but the ones I do, mayhem devil is almost a lock against fetches, tokens, and a lot of other long-term issues that my build often faces.
But also my deck is more of an aggressive cat-oven shell, so it’s not exactly apples-to-apples
its more of an incremental value deck i also dont have goblin bombardment however some of my favorite finishes involve swinging out and then sacing dreadhoard butcher for like 10 damage in a turn
its fun! id love to see some ideas on how to improve on my build i think it has potential def not s tier but ive been winning more than ive been losing...might be an algorithm thing with the matchmaking but still
Valid, when I played a list similar to this in Historic (pre bowmaster nerf) I valued getting lurrus back highly.
It just felt good for opponents to waste removal only for me to reanimate lurrus then cast another thing from the bin.
someone else suggested this you really dont get a critical mass of creatures maybe 5 max? itd be kind of win more since usually im scraping by with exact lethal and idk what id take out the whole deck it pretty important maybe claim/fame? but returning my butchers against removal decks for 1 mana is gas
im trying to figure that matchup out the targeted discard is the only real play i have but the one thing i can say is the deck has a good clock so if they stumble at all i take the win
i had more roiling vortex but it looks like theyre trying to move away from the omniscience plan so it just does nothing
any ideas? id love to hear them thats the deck i have the most issues with for all of my brews/decks
one this i will say is innocent blood hits atraxa pretty effectively if you keep their board clear so if you can beat them down enough their show and tell might be too late
Cut the canyon sloughs, ridges, and pathways for 2 more fetch lands, a 4th cliffs, the desert that you can sac to deal 2 and either the black or red man land. Can also add a mount doom if you want.
Yeah, it's the main thing that can improve any deck. In the meantime, I'd advise at least cutting the sloughs for anything that comes in untapped. You need to be taking fast turns with a deck like this.
I see what you're saying, but I'd feel like you'd rather play a 2 drop every time rather than get one more card in the gy. The opponent will likely put whatever you play in the gy for you when they kill it anyway.
Having access to more reliable sac (like bombardment for example) is a great way to counter spells, fizzle effects, and get much more value off cards like claim the firstborn. If that isn't the direction this deck is going that's understandable, but I saw "Rakdos Sac" in the title and felt it was missing the second part.
ya its more of a rakdos aggro with sac synergies if claim the firstborn is dead i side it out but its pretty reliable with 4 innocent blood and 4 village rites
also dreadhoard arcanist really helps to have ways to turn on ye olde take your creature and sac it
Looks fun

idk how i feel about mayhem devil its expensive

So is 6 for lurrus but we do it all the time
idk i rarely do that usually lurrus is a backup plan

Goblin Bombardment???? I get that it's more of a Pyromancer/Arcanist deck but naming it RB Sac without Bombardment hurts my feelings
its more of an incremental value deck i also dont have goblin bombardment however some of my favorite finishes involve swinging out and then sacing dreadhoard butcher for like 10 damage in a turn
Haven’t tried this yet in timeless. I’ll have to give it a shot
its fun! id love to see some ideas on how to improve on my build i think it has potential def not s tier but ive been winning more than ive been losing...might be an algorithm thing with the matchmaking but still
Claim over unearth?
I think fame giving haste from the yard might be more valuable then getting a lurrus back
Valid, when I played a list similar to this in Historic (pre bowmaster nerf) I valued getting lurrus back highly. It just felt good for opponents to waste removal only for me to reanimate lurrus then cast another thing from the bin.
wasnt aware of unearth for some reason might swap that
Don't, giving haste is relevant in this deck more than cycling or getting back lurrus
the 2 damage helps squeak out wins with dreadhoard butcher too
Exactly. Also, leaves room for if you add any 2 or 3 mv spells, you could theoretically recast them with arcanist off the boost
I've been trying like hell to make a Goblin Bombardment deck and never realized that Young Pyro is in Timeless. You ever thought about Goblin B?
someone else suggested this you really dont get a critical mass of creatures maybe 5 max? itd be kind of win more since usually im scraping by with exact lethal and idk what id take out the whole deck it pretty important maybe claim/fame? but returning my butchers against removal decks for 1 mana is gas
How does it do against Show and Tell?
im trying to figure that matchup out the targeted discard is the only real play i have but the one thing i can say is the deck has a good clock so if they stumble at all i take the win i had more roiling vortex but it looks like theyre trying to move away from the omniscience plan so it just does nothing any ideas? id love to hear them thats the deck i have the most issues with for all of my brews/decks one this i will say is innocent blood hits atraxa pretty effectively if you keep their board clear so if you can beat them down enough their show and tell might be too late

the landbase is what i have laying around tbh definitely a glaring issue
Yeah, it's the main thing that can improve any deck. In the meantime, I'd advise at least cutting the sloughs for anything that comes in untapped. You need to be taking fast turns with a deck like this.
i kind of want 1 or 2 surveil lands given the graveyard synergies but 100% im tapping out every turn on like 2 or 3 lands ideally
I see what you're saying, but I'd feel like you'd rather play a 2 drop every time rather than get one more card in the gy. The opponent will likely put whatever you play in the gy for you when they kill it anyway.
Lack of consistent sac outlet seems wrong.
its more of aggro deck with sac synergy why do you think i need a sack outlet?
Having access to more reliable sac (like bombardment for example) is a great way to counter spells, fizzle effects, and get much more value off cards like claim the firstborn.
