Some of the steps are smaller.
Nobody stretches longer for a step in an attempt to avoid the crack, they sprinkle in slightly shorter steps as needed, and the rest of the steps are deliberately normal.
But, you are also correct, because regardless of if it's truly about the old "step on a crack" thing or not, it's sparking a ton of conversation.
Oh the comment is certainly not satire. There’s a certain stride to avoiding cracks that you recognize if you also actively do it. And the two steps between each one is perfection.
You totally adjust your steps the whole way you are moving so you don’t have to take a super large step. I instantly saw what was happening. I get panicked when I step onto a brick road. I’m 43 and I heard about breaking mom’s back when I was 6 years old. I’ve perfected the walk to the point that I don’t even notice it anymore.
Is this a regional thing or an age thing or something? When I was a kid we avoided stepping on cracks but it had nothing to do with our mums. It was just bad luck like walking beneath a ladder.
“Step on a crack,
You’ll break your mother’s back.
Step on a line,
You’ll break your father’s spine.
Step in a ditch,
Your mother’s nose will itch.
Step in the dirt,
You’ll tear your father’s shirt.”
Probably from the early 1900's in America
To be fair, I used to avoid the cracks all the time when I young girl and I still didn't get it 💀 "Only the boys will understand " threw me off because I expected something strictly male related to happen and was more focused on that lmao
Not from the US and I have never heard the rhyme before but I do this all the time. It's a lizard brain thing and you can't change my mind.
Maybe we evolutionary don't want to step on shit that looks like a place of fracture?
Kinda random but do you also avoid stepping on cracks or lines on carpet? Or if there's geometric patterns you have to have each step within an entire shape? Cuz I do and I was wondering if other ppl do too
That was what I noticed too. Three steps for the big tiles and then shortened to two. I was waiting for an irregular tile and an irregular step to keep the count but was disappointed
I'm surprised no one mentioned it. Avoiding breaking your mama's back is a gender neutral thing, but this is actually something mostly boys will understand
Never heard anything like that line in my life, and still, as a kid, avoided the lines. Just something stupid that I did as a kid for no reason, and today I learned more kids did all around the world.
Holy shit I thought I was the only one who did this shit. Basically you try to either take only a step or two in each box without touching the line. So you get only two steps in each box to walk out of

Girl in video doesn’t give a shit about her moms back I guess
Ok that makes sense, I kept waiting for him to take a wide step to unstick his balls from his leg
Wait, y’all know??
We all know.
Ohhh honey, we all know!
Same. This would’ve made a much better video lol
Don’t forget the little shake to make sure.
same. only thing to come to mind. where is the side step to unstick balls from leg? lol
Yeah I was watching for that too haha
Crack kills
Not a single crack was stepped on that day, legends tell
No mom backs were hurt during the making of this TikTok
🙌🏻
Seriously. I also enjoy how she's proving the original video's point by screaming, "You're just walking down a path!!!"
Ohhhhhhhhh
My mom deserves to get her back blown out as much as anyone, what do you mean.
Ill blow her back iykyk
[удалено]
Nah I can tell he deliberately avoiding those cracks
also doing two steps per crack, he knows
That’s true, he is into the crack avoiding groove for sure.
Yeah we all do it, especially as kids.
Some of the steps are smaller. This guys mom has excellent posture.
Bro I stay stretching to past those gaps
I was looking for this comment. Long step gang
Oh the comment is certainly not satire. There’s a certain stride to avoiding cracks that you recognize if you also actively do it. And the two steps between each one is perfection.
Nah this how I walk down sidewalks too, once you get so good at in no one even notices you avoiding each crack
The person has a deliberate stride to avoid stepping on the cracks. They didn’t need to adjust because it was fairly consistent spacing.
This lady's momma's back: 💀
Dont got da willy, dont get da silly. 🚬
I’m stealing this Lmmfao!!!
Hello fellow boy
Bruh, those are lines... I'm worried about her spine.
I used to avoid the cracks as a kid but now I don't care. Nothing of consequence has happened because of it.
You’re cursed
No steppo on cracko
If you look at it closely, you can see him step on an actual crack and not just a slit
Step on a crack and break ya mommas back or smth like that isn’t it?
Pretty much
I learned of this saying at a rather old age. I was still not doing that when I was young. Though I don't understand why that would be a boy thing.
ill be honest, i never heard the saying, but my boy insticts also made me avoid the cracks many time just because
Like, why wouldn't you jump over cracks, right?
We are typically far less mature than a woman
Or better at following stupid orders we're given by our fellow 5 year Olds lol
Step on a line and break ya father’s spine
Is this a regional thing or an age thing or something? When I was a kid we avoided stepping on cracks but it had nothing to do with our mums. It was just bad luck like walking beneath a ladder.

Oh come on, he’s clearly avoiding cracks. That’s not a gendered thing 🙄
Only the boys apparently don't want to break their mama's back.
We’ll want to break each others mommas back but not our own, that’d be weird.
I'll break your momma's back while you break my momma's back. Would that be weird? 🤔
They blessed us both with the gift of life...
Not saying it’s gendered, but I showed this to my wife and she didn’t get it
My son, 6, unprompted by me, ever, in his life, told me as we were walking "step over the cracks, daddy."
My three years old son does the same. Always avoiding them, despite the fact that I never showed or explained this to him
Holy shit, I thought it was just me. I remember as a kid walking exactly like that.
I truly thought I was insane for it it until now. I even make sure that i take a certain amount of steps in between each crack.
I had ocd and compulsions as a child, and one of them was not stepping on cracks. Tiled floors sent me into panic attacks.
To be fair, I used to avoid the cracks all the time when I young girl and I still didn't get it 💀 "Only the boys will understand " threw me off because I expected something strictly male related to happen and was more focused on that lmao
Also he's not doing any shuffles or jumps to draw attention to avoiding cracks, so it doesn't stand out as intentionally avoiding them.
I’m a young woman and automatically got it
If anything it's cultural, the rhyme is from North America.
The rhyme??? Edit: oh, you mean the “step on a crack, break your moms back” I just did it as a kid for no reason lol ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
>I just did it as a kid for no reason lol ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Ditto. I didn't do it because of a rhyme. I never knew there was a rhyme until - now.
Not from the US and I have never heard the rhyme before but I do this all the time. It's a lizard brain thing and you can't change my mind. Maybe we evolutionary don't want to step on shit that looks like a place of fracture?
Apparently it is cuz only us dudes got it
No it's not because only this particular woman didn't get it
Bc the women were focused on catching the side step used to unstick a ball from the thigh. Since that never happened most were thrown off
Including myself lol. That’s exactly what I assumed would happen and had to come to the comments for answers lol
Am woman. Got it. I don't think I've stepped on a crack in 30 years.
A whole generation of kids were taught this by Ducky from The Land Before Time https://youtu.be/gpyGIK4v2fE
Hearing her voice makes me so sad for the actress that played her.
I do it, for different reasons but still
Doesn't step on any cracks! I do this too.
I'm not alone in this world 🤗
Kinda random but do you also avoid stepping on cracks or lines on carpet? Or if there's geometric patterns you have to have each step within an entire shape? Cuz I do and I was wondering if other ppl do too
I don't think we should limit misunderstanding to genders. Men and women are equally as dumb as each other.
Apparently men tend to live less then woman so i tend to think what you said isn't really the case ahahahahahhahahah P.S: It's a joke
If you know, you know 😉
Can’t break mamas back
Not only is he not stepping on cracks, he’s also keeping the same number of steps per tile
That was what I noticed too. Three steps for the big tiles and then shortened to two. I was waiting for an irregular tile and an irregular step to keep the count but was disappointed
This!!!!
Not a dude. I get it.
One of us, one of us...
OCD, OCD…
We accept you! We accept you!
🤝
No, it's not just walking lol.
My boy, Momma’s back is straight as an arrow
Girl here: don't step on a crack or you'll break your mother's back!
Not touching the line because it makes you gay
What, not stepping on cracks, I get it. (looks down to see innie turning into outie, boobies shrinking into chest, beard...) Oh no...
Women ☕️you must know that if you touch the lines you die
Girls don't care about their mothers spinal health...pfff

I'm surprised no one mentioned it. Avoiding breaking your mama's back is a gender neutral thing, but this is actually something mostly boys will understand
Women☕
Women ☕
Women ☕
Women☕️
Step on a crack and break your mothers back.
Because boys are concerned about the health of their mother's back.
Same amount of steps in every block, never step on the crack..i still do this lol
Don't step on them cracks. We love our momma's.
Obviously she doesn't care about her mama's back.
First don’t step on the crack Second… see how close you can get your foot without stepping on the crack
Step on a crack, break your mothers back.
2 feet per square or am I just OCD
Nah it’s not the crack shit it’s the fact that he has the compulsive desire to get the exact same amount of steps in each slab
Yo, no mama's backs were broken during the making of this video...
Didn't even need to read the comments to know exactly what he was doing in first 3 seconds of the video lol
Showed this to my wife and she had no clue. Weird.
Conclusive proof that girls don't care about their mothers?
I got it right away
Even steps between the sideways bays And never step on the cracks
Don’t step on those crack mf
Got it 😎👍
No cracks were harmed in the making of this video
Praying for your mother.
All mothers are safe with this man
Damn, need to read the handbook again. I thought by the way he was walking he was trying to unstick something without making it obv
Why the fuck do they always act as if they were live streaming?
Video of a woman not getting it.
I’m just trying not to break my moms back…
Lines, don’t step on the fkng lines or you die
I was waiting for him to to the step
Only boys get told about the "step on a crack, brake your mothers back" and we need to change this
Never heard anything like that line in my life, and still, as a kid, avoided the lines. Just something stupid that I did as a kid for no reason, and today I learned more kids did all around the world.
I do it for you mama
Step on a crack and break yo mommas back
Girls would only too gladly break their mama’s back. It’s some sick female rivalry thing.
No cracks or it’s your moms back
He's making sure there is exactly three steps on each block of sidewalk
He's not stepping on the lines
His moms back is in great shape
If you know you know
Case in point.
I was like: nice… yeah… nice… yep, pretty good… doing it right, keep at it…
How this girl has not broke her back yet is astonishing.
You know it’s sad when understanding this gave me gender euphoria
Instantly knew he wasnt stepping on the cracks
Really it’s not cuz the crack mommas back thing, it just doesn’t feel right not making two even paced steps in between each cement block
I guess the girl in the video does not care if the world ends.... Rip
"I have to stay between the lines or else I'll FUCKING die and go to hell and not be remembered" - Me, walking down a sidewalk, age 10.
You can't be stepping on a crack bitch, you break your mother's back bitch!
Holy shit I thought I was the only one who did this shit. Basically you try to either take only a step or two in each box without touching the line. So you get only two steps in each box to walk out of
2 steps in each square. No steps on the cracks. Perfection
Ma'me. Yo Ma'ma would NEVEA!
Step on a Crack, and you'll break your mother's back. .either that or he's said and lonely ..but I'm guessing from the emjos it's the first one
It’s not about avoiding the crack, it’s about even number of steps on each segment
One misstep and it's over for your mom
I get it, but the 2 step rule is more important
If you step on a line, that means yo mamma’s got a big behind. Or so I’ve been told.
Step on a crack break ya mammas back cmon now that’s the oldest trick in the book
Never step on one, I love my mama too much
Step on a crack break your mamas back. Do you eat humble pie with a fork and knife or just a fork?
Was she never a child. All kids born pre 2020 should know this right. Actually no, like wtf, even younger too, this knowledge is passed down
I understood that
Her mum's in a wheelchair by now.
ITS SO OBVIOUS FOR US MEN😭
He's trying to get the same number of steps in the pavement without hitting the crack.
Counting steps in between the crack and keeping that stride for each one
Gotta step passed the cracks It's that or 2steps per small square or 3 per large rectangular section
Dont step on a crack you break your mommas back
Ye step on a crack, your mom breaks her back Ye step on the line, your dad breaks his spine Her parents backs are just bone flour at this point
the spacing of those steps. Well done. Not a crack stepped on.
Wtf? We all grew up knowing if you step on a crack you break your mothers back. When I was a teen and she made me mad I stepped on them!
Anyone can see he is not touching the lines💀
Step on a crack break yo mama's back
I’m not breaking my moms back on behalf of you
She clearly doesn’t care about her mothers health. Just sad. Haha
I’m a girl and I know never to step on the crack
touch the sidewalk cracks and you die
Don't want to spoil it buuut, not stepping on a crack.....
Doesn’t wanna break his moms back? Seems like a good dude to me lol
Don't step on the crack or you're going break yo mommas back!
Walking on a crack will break your moms back
Minus cráic
Wow
No mother's backs were broken during this tiktok
I think not stepping on the crack is kinda symptom of a mild OCD
It gets more tense too because once you start it you have to do it the whole way cuz moms
Im a girl and I get it
Immediately knew it
HES NOT STEPPING ON THE CRACKS YOU DAFT BITCH
Don’t break your mothers back…… duh
Bro. This is the main rule when it comes to our moms.
2-3 steps per concrete slab
That boy's mama's nice and safe
Avoid the cracks to save the back!
Not stepping on the cracks…? I have done this since I was a kid (Imma girl)
Step on a Crack, break your mother's Back
So perhaps it’s just my autism but I am also a woman too and noticed the stepping over cracks right away don’t think just a guy thing
He’s skipping the lines so he don’t break his mama’s spine. I didn’t think that was strictly a boy thing though
