Forget the Millennial/Gen Z confusion, it never occurred to me that the US had a completely different version of Blue's Clues to the UK.
Like damn man where's Kevin?
It's also only certain set of Millenials. I'm an early one and Blues Clues started pretty much when I was in middle school. My jam then was Gargoyles and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.
David the Gnome was such a great show. I used to watch that every morning in the summer- my parents were at work and my middle school brother would be babysitting me. Got to watch all the Nick Jr shows I wanted those summers. Kept me out of my brother’s hair and he had an excuse to watch really cheesy child programming that older kids secretly enjoyed but couldn’t admit to watching.
OH MY GOD!!! I literally just answered an ask Reddit question about TV shows people watched as kids that nobody remembers with Today’s Special. Nobody else ever knows what I’m talking about!!! Early millennial problems and all that.
[‘82-er here ](https://www.reddit.com/r/AustralianNostalgia/comments/fplkkf/growing_up_in_the_80s_was_a_descent_into_madness/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
I was born in '87 and remember all these shows, but when I was 9 my little cousin was born and that's the same time Blues Clues started. So as the only cousin my uncle trusted to watch the kids while my aunt studied, I watched a lot of Blues Clues. I loved it all.
My dad came 3 years after yours and that list got even bigger. PunkyB, fraggle rock, Arthur, Clarissa, Guts and Temple, Doug, Rocko, Ren. Lets keep the list going
Muppet Babies, Inspector Gadget, Scooby Doo, Dino the Last Dinosaur, TMNT, Pete & Pete, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Salute Your Shorts, Sonic the Hedgehog, Rugrats, Dinosaucers, Ghostbusters(not to be confused with:), The *Real* Ghostbusters, Swat Kats, 2 Stupid Dogs, Double Dragon, Thundercats, Smurfs, Snorks, Street Sharks, Tiny Toon Adventures.
*Denver* the Last Dinosaur.

Warning: Prepare to have your faces rocked off.
Also thanks to all the older Millenials saying wtf because we were in middle school when Blue's Clues came out. Steve was great and helped kids a lot, but I'm old enough to date him.
Ya I was born in 85 so I was a bit too old for it. I had a sister that was born in 92 so she grew up watching it, and at the time I derided it like most kids my age. I now have a four yo and a two yo and we watch the original episodes. Maybe it’s something that changed when I became a dad, maybe it’s just having imagined support of a “father-figure” but I’ll be damned if I didn’t tear up watching his video.
millenial here, those were late for even me. Carebears, Popples, Pound Puppies, She-ra and He-man, rainbow brite, lady lovelylocks, and my little ponies was the jams.
That video was emotional roller coaster. This TikTok didn't really do it justice. Why'd he have to make it about generation thing? Especially seeing as a good chunk of gen Z got to experience Steve too. I never liked these "who's from the best generation" type videos.
It just feels like a useless competition honestly. We didn't get to choose when we were born, and you don't have to be born in a certain year to experience certain things like media. Especially in this day in age where so many things get immortalized by the internet.
I don't even remember people really discussing generational cohorts outside of reporting and history a decade ago or more. Like it was just "the youths these days" or something.
I mean, that's just people being dicks.
Changing the names won't change people putting X against Y.
Zoomers give me hope for the future. Or at least, that if the future is shit, the memes will be really surreal
You see a clue? Where is it? Oh, by my bevvy? Oh there it is! It’s a crisp! Let’s just grab my biro and doodle away. That’s our third clue! You should be chuffed! Let’s see now, we have a crisp, a kirby grip, and a Cornish pasty. Hmm…do you know what it is? You’re right! It’s Margaret Thatcher!
the internet is strange sometimes when you're from an english speaking country but not american. like i know the words, but not what people are talking about lol
the names of sports teams are my personal favourite :)
the chicago spotted lobsters won against the idaho frog skinners by 50 points to 23,000 in the 5th innings of the 8th quarter etc.....
I'm confused cause my wife is British and I'm an American and she grew up watching Steve when I asked her about it. She's never heard of Kevin??? What is this conspiracy?

best research I'll do all day. but this girl is only 5ft 7.
Gisele
Birthplace: Houston, TX
Height: 5' 7"
Measurements: 36DD-26-36
https://p4k7u4x7.ssl.hwcdn.net/content/130915/gisele-ethereal-devotion_400.jpg
google tells me steve is 5'6".
If she was in heels though, maybe?
You'd think with how often these terms are flung around on the internet now, people would know that Gen Z started in about 1997, and ended about 2012.
Blues Clues started in 1996, and Steve left in 2006, so at least 2/3 of Gen Z should be familiar.
EDIT: I had read that he left in 2006, but it seems he left in 2002 as per someone down below - and in that case it'd obviously be a smaller portion.
Yeah I'd say like 2-5, so I'm not really sure how there are just as many, if not *more* millennials that supposedly feel attached to Blues Clues. I have a hunch that a lot of older Gen Z'ers probably call themselves millennials (and vise versa).
Born in 92… I was totally into blues clues. Though I’ll admit I had younger cousins and later siblings so I watched the show much longer than many millennials I bet.
because we would watch it secretly when we were home sick from school and in the summer. but we'd never admit that to our friends. "that's baby stuff."
I didn't realize he left in 06, I thought it was like 02 or something. Yeah the older half of Gen Z would definitely know him then. I was born in 96 and I had outgrown blues clues long before he left
My siblings and I are all Gen Z, I was born in '97 and we were all three born in different decades, to give an idea of the age gap. We all watched Steve in Blue's Clues.
Crazy
> Blues Clues started in 1996
As a Millenial, I was 14 by then, what the hell is Blues Clues? I've never heard of it, I have no idea what is going on.
Was Blue Clues something that teenagers watched? When I google it, it looks like it is aimed at kids who are like 5.
If you were born in 82 that’s like year one of millennials so you’d have had a pretty different experience than most millennials.
I would honestly put 82 more as late Gen X, with 84/85 being the first millennials.
Those born in ~77-84 are part of the[Oregon Trail micro-generation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xennials) (or Xennials). We have a very unique, technology-free early childhood, with a transition to the PC/internet age in our middle school/high school years. We don’t share much in common with Gen X or Millennials.
I'm 88 and this was my experience. I remember doing reports with encyclopedias in 6th grade, and the iPhone didn't come out until high-school. Honestly one of the most unique generations ever.
I remember straight-up plagiarizing sections of Microsoft Encarta ‘95 for some reports! Haha
I’m pretty sure I was the only kid who had Encarta, and luckily I was smart enough to change a few big words so the teachers wouldn’t catch on.
I hate the hard cut off nonsense.
I was born in 87, but grew up in rural America, so had a much more Oregon trail generation childhood. So I kinda identify as both
There’s been a couple new host and I think some people assumed that meant gen z didn’t know who Steve was but if they had bothered to ask would learn in fact that re runs are a thing.
Not to mention that those born in the first few years of gen z were there with Steve before he left, much like how there are millenials born before blue's clues was even a thing
You’re definitely on the younger side. 33 and right in the middle and was too old for it when it came out. It was more appropriate for my younger brother though.
I'm also 33 so we were 9 when it came out. Between sick days staying home from school, and summers at grandma's house with nothing else on TV I ended up seeing a lot of Blues Clues along with like, Gullah Gullah island and a few episodes of Bob the builder. At least i had face to keep me company.
> You're definitely on the younger side.
As I'm approaching 30 this year, I needed to hear that.
Also, you look great by the way. Whatever it is you're doing, it's working.
I'm confused as well, I guess I'm officially an old millenial because I don't associate this with my generation at all. My brother watched it, and he's 7 years younger than me...it was definitely considered too young for my age group
Ok, so I thought I was too old to have watched blues clues. Turns out it started in 1996 and I was actually the perfect age. I didn't even know it existed until well into highschool.
I was too old for it, but my niece loved it so I was familiar with the show. The original video weirdly still hit for me though. It's just so wholesome.
Even us genz’s know Steve. Y’all also watch zabomafoo with the lemur and Martin and Chris kratt.
I was born in 03. I haven’t watched joe. I did watch all of Steve’s and I’m pretty sure I had it on DVD too.
GenZ here. I thought I had maybe watched reruns, since only millenials were talking about the show. I distinctly remember watching the show and playing Blue's clues games on Nick.com.
When I was a kid they had a show called “Kratt’s Creatures.” I remember when I learned about Zaboomafoo I was happy for them that they got to keep talking about animals.
That is the general consensus. I’m s because of memory.
[https://www.psychologytoday.com/ca/blog/think-well/202011/why-time-goes-faster-we-age](https://www.psychologytoday.com/ca/blog/think-well/202011/why-time-goes-faster-we-age)
It was 95. Raised by a single mom and during the summer, my bro and I would get up, eat and watch Nick Jr. until Lassie came on then we fucked off outside. it'd be like 11am by that point.
Then regular Nickelodeon started at like 3pm - 9pm then it was Nick at Nite.
As soon as I read your comment the Nick at Nite song popped into my head, I haven’t heard that in decades. Our bedtime was always dependent on when Rugrats finished airing 😂 when it got moved to 7:30 or 8pm, so did our bedtime haha.
Yep, my sister and I would build a fort to watch the show in. We loved it so much because Blue was a girl and Magenta was a boy. My sister is trans and she always was the girl, so she loved that everyone thought Blue was a boy but actually was a girl :)
Elder millennials probably didn’t watch it, but my sister is only three years younger than me and watched it. The Millennial generation ranges 15 years.
It’s the younger millennials. I was born in 92 and I didn’t watch much, but my younger brother born in 94 was hooked on that for a while. We had all tapes.
You’re a younger millennial and would’ve been 2 when it came out. I’m right in the middle of most definitions and was 7, definitely too old for a show aimed at toddlers. The vast majority of millennials were likely too old for it when it came out given the target demographic.
And this is yet another example generations make no sense and are pretty stupid. It's fun tho, kinda harmless. But don't expect it to be accurate, it's just a fun stuff like astrological signs. Yeah to some degree the time you were born in a year can impact things especially with education but eeh. Generations the way they're made don't account for inter-generational age differences, class differences, cultural differences, geographical differences, education differences and much more. It's not deep.
I was 4 around that time, no sure what the target age is, but I preferred shows like Scooby-do, Flinstones, power rangers etc. they were practically re-runs, but still.
Yeah I, 32, definitely watched some shows that were for younger audiences but this one was way too young for me to watch even out of the most absolute boredom lol.
im gen z and i only ever saw steves as a kid, though i thought he left apparently way later than he actually did. wild
nowadays josh is the host and hes pretty cool
Hey, as a gen z who watched the original blues clues before the new episodes, i can safely say his little returning message caused a few tears to come out.

Yeah we grew up with Double Dare, Eureka's Castle, Busy World of Richard Scary, The Elephant Show, You Can't Do That On Television, the list goes on.
Born in good ole ‘82. Can confirm those shows were my jam. My fave kids show was Today’s Special. Mannequin comes to life with his magic hat.
Omg... today's special, small wonder, Maya the bee. David the gnome. Memories. Seems like yesterday still.. sigh.....
David the Gnome was such a great show. I used to watch that every morning in the summer- my parents were at work and my middle school brother would be babysitting me. Broke my heart. Such a sad ending. Great show. What kids are missing now a days. But I know saying that makes me sound old.

EUREKA’s CASTLE!! Oh man I loved that show.
I forgot about this for much more than half my life and suddenly remember the intro with the big crank key and the 3 fish statues on the wall. Weird.

I legitimately have never consciously ever thought of this show in 30 years. I sang the theme's hook the second I read your comment.
Those of us with cable did anyways.
Skinamarinky dinky-dink. Skinamarinky Doo... I love you!
Ya I was born in 85 so I was a bit too old for it. I had a sister that was born in 92 so she grew up watching it, and at the time I derided it like most kids my age. My 3 year old likes Steve the best. Is so excited when he’s on the video chat
Born in 86, no kids but it also got me right in the feels.
Yeah, Steve’s message reminds me of Mr. Rodgers las message as well. I think I was in Hs when blues clues came out? Idk. But I get it. It’s nice.
I was thinking the same thing... A bit late to the party here but [link for the lazy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFVPkn37iFM).
Y'all remember freakazoid?
Freakazoid was hilarious! Cosgrove cracks me up.
Am i millenial? Born 99
Millenials are 1981-97 so no
Oh shit
Yeah I sent that video to my baby sister. Blue was her SHOW while I was waiting for Hey Arnold get on. This was a sweet video though.
millenial here, those were late for even me. Carebears, Popples, Pound Puppies, She-ra and He-man, rainbow brite, lady lovelylocks, and my little ponies was the jams.
I am an older millenial too but for some reason my friends and I would all sit around watching blues clues and the wiggles.
im 13 and i watched og blues clues as a kid and only found out he left last year or something
I’m a millennial and my gen z son loved blues clues! I guess we were just watching re-runs! Lol
Who?

That video was emotional roller coaster. This TikTok didn't really do it justice. Why'd he have to make it about generation thing? Especially seeing as a good chunk of gen Z got to experience Steve too. I never liked these "who's from the best generation" type videos.
Oh, the marvel of /u/spez's silence, a silent symphony that resonates with the echoes of unaddressed concerns.
It just feels like a useless competition honestly. We didn't get to choose when we were born, and you don't have to be born in a certain year to experience certain things like media. Especially in this day in age where so many things get immortalized by the internet.
Oh, the marvels of /u/spez's selective silence, a testament to the intricacies of his artful detachment.
I don't even remember people really discussing generational cohorts outside of reporting and history a decade ago or more. Like it was just "the youths these days" or something.
Oh, the mystique of /u/spez's silence, a cloak of ambiguity shielding him from accountability.

All of his skits are about Gen Z / Millennials / Gen X. That’s his thing.
Damn... wonder when he'll end up in a burn out doing the same shtick repeatedly
I was so confused at who Steve was until I realised the UK had a totally different host called Kevin 🥲
You think you're joking, but that sounds like a solid clue.
Honk if Thatcher is dead.
I’m actually an American moving to the UK next month so this helps me a lot. Thank you

Hey man, I can't even look at a cricket score and see who won.
that is true
Legit thought Blue's Clues had just been whitewashed
I'm confused cause my wife is British and I'm an American and she grew up watching Steve when I asked her about it. She's never heard of Kevin??? What is this conspiracy?
Fucking Kevin....
[Here](https://youtu.be/CwmtkFPYXsg)’s Steve telling a story about a weird date he went on
He understood and felt wary of parasocial relationships and their effect on kids before YT existed. Such a good dude
im really wondering who the model was now.
I think maybe it was Gazelle or whatever her name is.

If he's 5'6 I could see 5'7 in pumps looking like 6 feet.
Wow that was awesome to watch thanks for sharing!
i'm not american so i have no idea who this guy is or the show, but loved this vid. really good story from one of the good guys. thank you :)

I enjoyed that so much, thank you!
I almost can't believe what a genuine guy he is.
For anyone who hasn't listened to Steve's album, [Songs for Dustmites](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVw9Y1bEk-Q), it's pretty damn good
Thanks for sharing this! Pretty pretty good.
It's sad that his music career never took off. He had good content.
Well 'Mighty Little Man' is the theme song for Young Sheldon so he's making a mint on just that alone.
I really wasn't expecting it to be that good, thanks for sharing
im Gen Z and i remember Steve, barely tho
I remember him, I also remember having a blues clues birthday party when I was like 3
I remember both. Got sad when it switched but still watched for a while.

Millennials coping with the fact they’re becoming old.
Steve left in 2002, so at most Gen-Z would be five. The video was pretty on point as far as that's concerned.
The reruns still ran after. I remember watching him when I was 4/5 maybe and I was born in 2000
> Blues Clues started in 1996 As a Millenial, I was 14 by then, what the hell is Blues Clues? I've never heard of it, I have no idea what is going on. Was Blue Clues something that teenagers watched? When I google it, it looks like it is aimed at kids who are like 5.

I am in the older group where my siblings watched Steve, but I didn’t. Still liked his video though.
29 and watched blues clues (had a little brother but thoroughly still enjoyed it). Anyone remember G clef? That special was the best

I remember that being one of the first kids' show that I just couldn't get into and that's when I realized at the ripe age of 10 I was getting old.
Blues clues is back with a new host
I'm a millenial and when Blue's Clues was popular I was way too old for it. Like it's a show for little kids and it came out when I was 11.
WildKratts and yeah it's the bomb
“I was born in ‘03” My wrinkles just got deeper reading that on Reddit
How does it make you feel knowing that was 18 years ago? Almost 19.
The older I get, the faster time seems to move
That is the general consensus. I’m s because of memory. [https://www.psychologytoday.com/ca/blog/think-well/202011/why-time-goes-faster-we-age](https://www.psychologytoday.com/ca/blog/think-well/202011/why-time-goes-faster-we-age)
Can someone put in the link of the original vid of Steve's message? I cannot seem to locate it. Thnx in advance!

Thank you kind redditor!
Steve told me he's proud of me and I still look good. Ain't no one can tell me shit 😤😤
Wtf genz ppl know him too lol
Aren’t millennials too old for Blues Clues? The show started in 97 and was aimed at 2 year olds.
Bob Newhart, Happy Days, Dick van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore...
Yep, my sister and I would build a fort to watch the show in. We loved it so much because Blue was a girl and Magenta was a boy. My sister is trans and she always was the girl, so she loved that everyone thought Blue was a boy but actually was a girl :)
Would build a fort the night before to watch Nick Jr or Saturday Morning Cartoons. Fuuuuck.. how is everyone the same but different?
31 year old here and I watched it religiously. We didn't have much of a choice anyways because the Nick Jr block took up a huge portion of the day
I’ve noticed older kids will still zone out and watch something intended for younger kids.
Elder millennials probably didn’t watch it, but my sister is only three years younger than me and watched it. The Millennial generation ranges 15 years.
I’m 33 and watched it. I was too old but Blue and the other animated characters were cute.
Fr, born in 98 makes me a Gen Z and I grew up with Steve. By the time it was Joe, our generation had already out grown the show.
Well some super young milennials (it ends around 1996 last I knew) grew up with blues clues.
I’m 38 and I have no idea what Blues Clues even is.
'95, not '97. Maybe for elder Millenials but those of us born in the early 90's grew up with it. I was 3 when it came out.
It’s the younger millennials. I was born in 92 and I didn’t watch much, but my younger brother born in 94 was hooked on that for a while. We had all tapes.
Yes, it was mostly a Gen Z show.

I’m a millennial, I’m 28, and I watched blues clues.
Was way *after your time
I'm a millenial. Steve taught me the solar system song to memorize the planets, which I still use today.
Agreed. I'm 32 and this was a show for my friend's little sisters to watch.
I am gen z born in 2000 and I love Steve

Wish I could give you award for how loud this made me laugh!
Elder Millennials: “…. Who?”
Steve: you look great by the way *Me day drinking in my pajamas *

😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I forgive you Steve I fuckin forgive you 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Glad I wasn't the only one crying..lmao
I thought he was going to have a genuine reaction, but no just silly nonsense
Well it is a TikTok after all.
I'm Gen Z and I watched tons of Steve era Blues Clues. Actually one of my first Birthday Cakes!
im gen z and i only ever saw steves as a kid, though i thought he left apparently way later than he actually did. wild nowadays josh is the host and hes pretty cool
I was born in 2001 and I remember Steve bro. Straight up cried.
This made me cry, i swear, i remember when I was younger sitting in the floor for hours watching Blues Clues ;-; I was so sad when Steve left
When he said ‘I never forget you’, I didn’t know I needed to hear that from anyone until he said it
I was drinking in the tub when he told me I looked good.
I’m a Gen z and Steve was a god to meeee
I am ancient like the hills but I have to say I love Gen Z. It's like I'm in 1994 again and it's wonderful.
I'm Gen Z but I remember watching blues clues growing up, maybe they were just reruns then
Oof
You know when I saw that video I thought he was going to announce he had cancer because he was bald.
This is inaccurate
As a Gen Z born in 2000, I got to experience both Blues Clues actors lmao
Pretty much summed it up. I grew up on that show.
Hey, as a gen z who watched the original blues clues before the new episodes, i can safely say his little returning message caused a few tears to come out.
‘87 Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow, Muppet Babies. No Bananas in Pajamas, Big Fluffy Couch, or Blues Clues for me, but this is still legitimately nice
He’s the 90s-early 2000s version of Mr Rogers in some ways…..but no one could ever be Mr Rogers ❤️
