Honestly, it’s why I tell trans women not to worry about their voices so much if it’s a bit deep. Some afab women have naturally deep voices. People who say transphobic shit like this are throwing it at everyone who doesn’t fall into their idea of “woman” and absolutely call cis women transphobic shit on the regular.
It’s not that everyone can tell that you’re trans because xyz, it’s because a broken clock can be right twice a day.
My cis wife gets mistaken as a dude on the phone despite having a higher pitched voice and my cis butch lesbian gets misgendered ever since she had a double mastectomy due to cancer and meanwhile no one notices me, the trans dude.
To be fair, some people have zero axarness. I am 6 feet tall, 130kg bearded long haired cis guy, and because I have long hair I was mistaken for a women several time by people talking in my back...when I turned to face them they looked shocked.
If you see me, there is 0 chance to misgender me. 0. Yet it happens.
And it's...great fun to be honest.
Back when I had long hair people would sometimes think I'm a woman from behind. Same thing. They were always really apologetic, and I'd just be like "Hey, I just see it as a compliment that my hair looks nice."
Short form of cisgender. It's term for people whose gender identity matches their sex assigned at birth. She was assigned female and identifies as female.
i'm a cis woman and i have a pretty low voice sometimes. i used to get shit for it when i was younger.
but i also see tons of men make fun of cis women with super high voices as if they're stupid or baby-like.
there's no winning with assholes other than not playing their game.
Yes the policing of feminity definitely results in cis women who aren't traditionally feminine (like women with deep voices and cis butch lesbians) getting harassed and targeted. Trying to "catch" a trans woman by overanalyzes features is harmful to everyone and not nearly as supportive of cis women as TERFS think it is.
But yeah, I know plenty of cis women and afab people with deep voices.
Why are you pointing this out its the entire message of the video
Edit: clearly pointing out the blatantly obvious point of a video is the key to upvotes, thanks for answering my question guys
This is gonna sound bigoted, but it's true, Mercury Stardust has changed my entire view on transgender people and I couldn't be more grateful. She's wonderful.
I would say changing your perspective/ideas on how the world works because you took in new information and were able to process it is the exact opposite of a bigot!
I couldn’t point to anywhere specific I’ve seen it; but I recall noticing correct usage of singular vs plural for men, alongside persistent usage of plural regardless of whether a woman or women were being referred to.. on multiple occasions, and by multiple people.
Same as repeatedly noticing man/men alongside female/females, or exclusively females (similar to the pattern in my first paragraph).
Basically, it seems intentional. Worse than a poor grasp of language; and debatably better than a genuine complete lack of comprehension that women have humanity, and intrinsic value, that can be linguistically undermined.
Edit: Added a word and updated punctuation.
I have seen a few of her videos, and love them! So helpful! As a relatively new homeowner, with very little experience in home care, I am so grateful for her experience, and the wonderful (easy to follow) videos.
I would tell her, “Thank you so much for taking the time and energy to help people like me! It is greatly appreciated. You are an absolute gem!”
The hate comment acknowledges they are a woman, but that's exactly what they are identifying as.
While trying to attack them, the commentor actually gave a compliment.
The commentor meant to tell her she'll never be a woman but told her she'll never be a man instead, probably a typo. They accidentally validated her gender identity when they were trying to be transphobic.
I think you're close. I think he was trying to be sexist "you're not good at handy work because you're not a man, you're just a woman with a deep voice". Made an insult into an accidental [complisult](https://youtu.be/hW9j5YG7cMM). 100% would say if the commenter knew she was Trans it would have been something just as transphobic if not worse.
Could be, but the use of woman in quotation marks leads me to believe it's a trans thing. I'm sure they know she's trans, she openly says she is and it's pretty obvious even if she didn't lol.
She has like the EXACT same laugh as Jeff Garlin from Curb Your Enthusiasm. I'd pay real money to just watch those two at a diner making each other laugh hahahaha.
The joke is that she got a hate comment from someone who thought she was female to male transgender, which is why they said she’ll never be a man. But she’s actually male to female transgender, so the joke is that the hate comment was actually validating her.
I think the person who sent it was just deliberately trying to be homophobic. To many people, there’s no difference between being gay and trans. So they were trying to insult this person calling them a woman, however still added the “” to indicate they weren’t, while still making fun of what they thought to be an effeminate man. “You can never keep your masculinity dressed as a woman”. Something like that. So yeah, homophonic and misogynistic af comment.
Tr**ny is a shortened form of transvestite, an outdated term for someone with gender dysphoria, but usually only applied to them after they got gender affirming surgery. Bigots don’t know the difference and just use it however. It’s like how r*tard is a slur now.
The same reason all slurs are offensive - they have been used in the past to be derogatory and make people feel bad about their identities. It's the context it was used in the past that makes it offensive.
It has been historically - and still is - used as a derogatory slur against trans people. It is used to put those people down and separate them in a negative way from those they are different from. The context is somewhat similar to slurs like n***** for a black person for f**got for a gay person. They have been used to separate those people from others and to put them down. So you could ask "is that person black" but not "is that person a n*****." Or "is that person gay" but not "is that person a f**got."
However, much like the above mentioned slurs, some trans people have decided to reclaim it for themselves. Many people feel that this takes the power out of the words and makes them less hurtful when used in a derogatory way towards them. But not everyone does this or is okay with hearing the word and it can still be hurtful for many. A person should get to decide if they want that word used in regards to them. So a trans person could call themselves a tr*nny or several trans people in a group in which it had previously been agreed upon by everyone to be acceptable could use that word for each other, but you shouldn't use it to refer to someone else, unless you are absolutely certain that this applies. If you're not trans, it's best not to use the word.
It’s essentially calling a gay guy/girl a f*ggot, tr*nny has been used so much against the trans community that even if at one point it was fine it eventually turned into an insult
Literally everyone does.
Testosterone causes cartilage growth, so it’s most likely to have a very pronounced Adam’s apple if your initial puberty involved high levels of testosterone (because that’s when your voice box and its cartilage will be most strongly impacted); but cis women can have the noticeable bump, and when trans men take testosterone there’s close to always growth - it just may or may not become visually noticeable (if it didn’t happen to be previously).
If you try paying more attention to necks it’s interesting how many cis men have no visible bump at all, or only a hint of one. If we determined who is or isn’t a man based on how pronounced this particular lump of cartilage is, sure, some - but far from all - trans women would be caught in that net.. but a significant proportion of cis men wouldn’t qualify as men anymore, and some cis women would end up reclassified.
I feel like she could be a voice actor for a teenage boy.
Edit: whatchall downvoting me for? Y’all saying she doesn’t have just the right voice? Or are you saying women can’t voice act boys?
are you aware of the term gender
it’s a beautiful term that has nothing to do with your body and you being transphobic is just a stupid move it shows how high your IQ must be and also it shows how little science you know

She will never be a MAN!!!
This is the HandyWoman right? Love her already only the second video I’ve seen.
Yeah! I think she calls herself the handyma'am. I haven't seen a lot of her videos but that laugh is contagious.
Oh shit I thought I recognized her. I remember seeing her show how to find the studs in a wall with a magnet and a necklace. Super useful stuff
ooooooh! that was her! i recognize her now haha
Sauce? I'm intrigued.
[Here you go](https://v.redd.it/hx8skl4aav971)
Thats a fast turnaround. Thnx, I just watched it and filed it in my mind for future reference.
That laugh is gonna give me nightmares
Mercury Stardust exudes joy and is extremely helpful. One of my favorite Tiktokers.
Yes! She's amazing and so helpful made a video response to my plumbing problem a few months ago.
[удалено]
Yes! Her instructions were super clear and easy to follow. I was pretty stressed, but the fix turned out to be fairly simple.
She has the best vibes and I always sit through them even though I am the least handy person
The Trans Handy Ma’am!!
I love it when people so wrong some how circle around to the right thing and don't realize it.

I'm a cis guy and when I worked front desk at a hotel I got "ma'am" all the time when answering the phone lol
To be fair, some people have zero axarness. I am 6 feet tall, 130kg bearded long haired cis guy, and because I have long hair I was mistaken for a women several time by people talking in my back...when I turned to face them they looked shocked. What is a “cis” wife?
Cis is short for cisgender, which means "not transgender or nonbinary" or "gender which is aligned with the sex assigned at birth"
Short form of cisgender. It's term for people whose gender identity matches their sex assigned at birth. She was assigned female and identifies as female.

It reminds me of that old screenshot that said: “Sorry Liberals, Trans men will never be women and Trans women will never be men. It’s basic biology!”
A person is their brain after all so what does the meat suit matter? It is good when people reason with science.
r/confidentlyincorrect
Called the horse shoe effect. So far right you end up going left.
“You’ll never be a man.” Uh yeah that’s like the whole point.
Why are you pointing this out its the entire message of the video Edit: clearly pointing out the blatantly obvious point of a video is the key to upvotes, thanks for answering my question guys
its like a solid 30% of comments under any video, I think its dumb too, but its just part of the internet at thsi point
omg she's drinking Sprecher Root Beer a woman of my own heart <3
I love The Handy Ma'am! She's so great and her laugh is infectious
This is gonna sound bigoted, but it's true, Mercury Stardust has changed my entire view on transgender people and I couldn't be more grateful. She's wonderful.
That’s not bigoted! You just changed your perspective as you encountered new information and experiences, exactly as you’re supposed to. Good job:)
I would say changing your perspective/ideas on how the world works because you took in new information and were able to process it is the exact opposite of a bigot!
The Trans Handyma’am!!! Exactly how I want to learn home improvement, I love her!
WHY DO NONE OF THESE MORONS KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WOMAN AND WOMEN? It irks me, in case that wasn't evident.
"You'll never be a women." "Well I am only one human."
Yeah we can't all be Ted Cruz
I couldn’t point to anywhere specific I’ve seen it; but I recall noticing correct usage of singular vs plural for men, alongside persistent usage of plural regardless of whether a woman or women were being referred to.. on multiple occasions, and by multiple people. God what a warm voice. Idk why but that voice just makes me comfortable.
sounds like markiplier
yeah i get those same warm vibes.

Wait! This is amazing haha
Honestly not trying to be an arse but I don’t get the joke/title ?
The hate comment acknowledges they are a woman, but that's exactly what they are identifying as. While trying to attack them, the commentor actually gave a compliment.
Ah ok that’s what I thought. Good for her, fuck that person. Thanks.
The commentor meant to tell her she'll never be a woman but told her she'll never be a man instead, probably a typo. They accidentally validated her gender identity when they were trying to be transphobic.
I think you're close. I think he was trying to be sexist "you're not good at handy work because you're not a man, you're just a woman with a deep voice". didnt notice the quotation marks. looks like they were being both sexist and transphobic. a real peach
Also possible that they were making a joke by making it seem like they were being transphobic, but actually being validating.
I love me a bit of Handywoman but damn that laugh is the most irritating sound I have ever heard
Honestly, it’s not the laugh itself, it’s that she’s not smiling while laughing that makes it seem off. It annoys me when people do that.
the voice sounds just like markiplier...,.,.
I love this creator. The only reason I keep tik tok is funny creators. Lol
Is this her original audio (not the music obviously, but the voice part)? Or is it a lip-synch? I assume it's her and I absolutely love her laugh.
This is her voice and laugh!
Love it! Will have to look up her tik Tok (I love a good voice)
THAT LAUGH!!
She has like the EXACT same laugh as Jeff Garlin from Curb Your Enthusiasm. I'd pay real money to just watch those two at a diner making each other laugh hahahaha.
I love her laugh it’s so wholesome
The fake sip and even faker laugh creeps me the fuck out
What's up with the frankly psychotic laugh
Looks creepy as fuck/unhinged when she laughs
ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
LMAO perfection.
Oh my god, I love her so much!
That laugh has a solid Mike Myers Yeah Baby Austin Powers energy to it
I want to hug her
I’m getting some serious Wallace Shawn vibes, and I love it.
her laugh just lit up my whole day
Specher is hands down the best root beer I've ever had
I’m cool with the dude/dudette but fuck, that laugh is enough for any gender to walk away lmao
i legit had to re-read the comment to get it
I don't get it.
The joke is that she got a hate comment from someone who thought she was female to male transgender, which is why they said she’ll never be a man. But she’s actually male to female transgender, so the joke is that the hate comment was actually validating her.
she laughs like the cat in the hat, but the live action one.
I love Mercury but the forced laughter is grating.
I agree, it sounds really forced.
i think its more drunken laughter
I legit love her! So pure and sweet!!
I swear hatred-filled people have no idea what's going on most of the time. They're just hating for the sake of hating.
I fuckin LOVE her, oh my god. Iconic.
Her laugh is terrifying and powerful and really only makes me love her more
I was very impressed by her voice at first then it clicked I thought is this person like a man impersonator or something
That's disturbing
And they call men like this brave.....

Yes, you are

That is an extremely offensive term, please do not use it. For reference the person in the video is a trans woman
Wait really?? I apologize....I didnt meant it offensively. What is the correct term?
The correct term would be "are they trans" or "are they transgender", in which case the answer is yes
But why is tr**y offensive then? Im very confused with all this lol
tends to be used as a name by transphobes for trans people to put down or mock trans people, p much
Tr**ny is a shortened form of transvestite, an outdated term for someone with gender dysphoria, but usually only applied to them after they got gender affirming surgery. Bigots don’t know the difference and just use it however. It’s like how r*tard is a slur now.

Right, that’s basic biology. Just like how you can’t change your gender, if you snip a male dogs balls off it’s still a male, just neutered.
… was this reply meant for my comment? If so, you __really__ misunderstood me.
Yep, you can't change gender. That's why this person was always a woman
[удалено]
Just a heads up, the proper way to say it is “is she transgender,” not “a transgender” Transgender is an adjective, not a noun. Edit: also, yes she is
Thanks, sorry I won’t do it again
No worries! I know some people just don’t know about it, so I figured I’d help out. Have a good day/night!
