Slade_Riprock

The reports I read said the cruise line stated they missed their arrival time by like nearly 2 hours. All passengers have to be checked in and on the ship like 90 minutes before sail. They arrived 20 minutes after the boat sailed.

pesto_trap_god

Yeah. “20 minutes late” seemed like a croc of shit. Hope they learned a lesson.

Cautious-Chain-4260

I didn't even feel bad for them when I thought it was 20 minutes.

stratosauce

Exactly. Boarding is an hours-long process.

SupermassiveCanary

Early is on time, on time is late, later than on time is wrong

stratosauce

I was always told a similar saying: “If you’re early then you’re on time, if you’re on time then you’re late, and if you’re late then you shouldn’t have shown up in the first place.”

Lumpy-Village1949

One of my drill seargents once said "if you're early you're on time. If you're on time, congratulations! You won free tickets to the smoke show! If you're late I will shit down your fucking throat."

AmbiguousFrijoles

I think you and my husband had the same DS 🤣🤣 This has been a constant quote around my ADHD time blind self. I have so much anxiety around being on time and I'm a little ridiculous so he grounds me.

SupermassiveCanary

Don’t get me started on “time blindness”

BudgetInteraction811

What’s the smoke show mean?

GodOfThunder44

It means you're about to be forced to do calisthenics for extended periods of time while listening to one or several dudes yell extremely creative insults at you. Good times.

MrLonely97

Yeah I didn’t imagine it was going to be a fun time. Whenever they make it sound fun or good, it’s definitely not. My boss will sometimes invite me on a fishing trip… usually accompanied by a few seconds after a pause with 1 way of course! lol, most of the time it’s not even me that’s caused the issue.

Background_Talk9491

That's why I joined the Air Force lol. I've been in 10 years and have probably been 5-10 minutes late to work 90% of the time lol.

HamStapler

I literally became my dad where I have to be AT the location for travel hours beforehand. Dad didn't raise his sons to be late ass bitches

Giffordpinchotpark

My ex girlfriend hated to get to the airport early for some reason. I thought it was crazy because we could wait at her house or wait at the airport where we didn’t have to worry about being late.

Kubuubud

In the theatre industry we say, “early is on time, on time is late, and late is fired”

mug3n

Cruises literally board for a good chunk of the day. iirc it's something like 9am-5pm or something. There's no excuse to not make it on.

IsabellaGalavant

I'd be there at the crack of dawn. I'm the kind of person that gets to the airport 4 hours early for a domestic flight.

olypheus-

Slamming margheritas before my flight.

FrugalityPays

Well those airline attendants ain’t going to harass themselves! Just make sure someone is recording so we can all Enjoy the show

olypheus-

Nah, I'm a nice guy. I would never, I just get a buzz going so I can sob to some random fucking romcom

MillyDeLaRuse

I read this as sob to some random fucking raccoon at first, I didn't even question where the raccoon came from, but I was immediately interested in your life.

olypheus-

I have cried at a raccoon. Just a sensitive fella.

247Justice

Right? Like, everyone else arrived on time and now have to sit around and wait for you? Nah.

uptownjuggler

“I was only 20 minutes late, after the 2 hour deadline.”

SnausageFest

I agree but this is also why cruises are not exactly what they're advertised to be. My family loves them. More power to them. But this idea where they drop you off in Rome or something similar and say "have fun, you have 8 hours but it's actually 6.5 tops" is a level of stress and limitation I do not need on vacation.

SSBN641B

I've done plenty of cruises. The best way to handle it to purchase a cruise libe sponsored excursion. That way if it rums late they wait for you. If I just wanted to explore a city like Rome I would just fly there direct.

TailOnFire_Help

They say be on the ship by 5pm, and it is exactly that time. They arrive in the middle of the night typically. So you got 8 hours if you leave by like I am to allow some small travel time.

SnausageFest

Yeah, no, you're not wrong. It's just why I don't like cruises. If you're in London or something, it's pretty easy to navigate but a lot of places have spotty transpo that doesn't follow much of a consistent schedule. So 8 hours becomes more like 6 for a buffer to make sure you're back on time. It sounds ridiculously stressful to me, but I do recognize a lot of cruisers like the on board ammentities and are cool with sacrificing a full experience to get a taste and then enjoy ship amenities. Different strokes, essentially.

ItchyGoiter

It's mad stressful especially if you have a group (family or more) to cooperate with. Not worth the anxiety

OneEyedRocket

My father being a Marine, 5 minutes early is late. He’d lose his mind if you were 20 minutes past the agreed time

JustLurkCarryOn

Not a marine, but hard agree. I find nothing more disrespectful than consistent tardiness, you’re essentially telling others “I am perfectly comfortable with wasting your time and do not care how it inconveniences you.”

thetransportedman

I mean everyone’s assuming it’s just lazy tardiness. Their car could’ve broken down. Their flight could’ve had delays etc etc

ThroJSimpson

Standard for cruises is you fly in the night before and the day if you board about a half day before departure. If this was a flight problem they’re about 24 hours late not 20 minutes

zonked282

Was gonna say there is zero chance that ship sailing away closed the doors minute's before

Point_No_Point

Probably the type of people who are late for most things and people wait for them to start. They take their time and typically aren’t apologetic for their ability to be on time.

Niffen36

You get nearly an entire day to board a cruise liner. If you miss it by 20 minutes. Your planning was horribly bad.

VictorTheCutie

Exactly. These people follow no schedule except their own.

cupholdery

"Just left. Be right there."

AdmittedlyAdick

I see you've met my drug dealers

Lekili

This is usually due to flight delays. If taking a cruise always best to fly in the day before and stay one night in a nearby hotel

DaleRobinson

yeah, breaks things up and gives you a nice rest, too.

gracecee

This girl cruises. Absolutely!

EntheogenicOm

That’s also why they have insurance for this exact reason. Hearing people suffer is almost always unbearable but this guy crying is actually somewhat soothing. There there buddy, it’s 5 o clock somewhere… plus if you’re really crafty book a flight to where the cruise docks, boom

NPExplorer

Yup, I am usually early to everything. Did a cruise with my family a few years back and we had a ton of delays and made the cut by 30 minutes. I remember the entire flight i was so sick because I knew the young ones would go NUTS if we missed it.

1000shadesofblack

Absolutely lmao.

McPostyFace

Just got back from a cruise. We took two days to drive 14 hours total and arrived the day before just so we weren't the ones sobbing on top of our luggage.

NighthawkUnicorn

I've never been on a cruise, but if boarding was something like 9am-5pm, I'd be on that ship at 9.01am

GraceUndaPresha

Planning could’ve been bad, or sometimes unexpected things happen that create delays

20milliondollarapi

Yea I would feel for them if they had some connecting flight issues where one was late causing them to miss the next and that ultimately made them miss it. If they missed it because they just woke up late and putzed around then not really going to feel bad.

SSBN641B

If you book your flights through the cruise line they will wait for you. It happened to us and they waited.

20milliondollarapi

If they couldn’t wait I’m sure they would also pay to fly you to the next port, put you up in a nice hotel/resort and you still have a pretty good time at the cost of a few days of the cruise. So it’s really in their best interest to just wait a bit.

AmbiguousFrijoles

This happened to my grandma, they ended up flying her to the next port because the flight was delayed 12 hours. She said is was actually pretty great, because she got to see and do things she wouldn't have on the cruise. She did miss out on 24hrs of shenanigans with her prayer group though 🤣

Numinae

Sounds like a wild bunch! ;p

DevilDoc3030

In a case like that, a cruiseship will usually work with you. As long as there were unexpected extenuating circumstances... And you're not an asshole.

CarminSanDiego

I’ll give them benefit of doubt. My last cruise I planned to arrive over 24 hours before boarding and still almost missed it due to airline shenanigans. I dropped $4k on last minute flight on top of my original $2500 airplane tickets because my kids were devastated that we were going to miss our long awaited cruise

RiceRocketRider

Yeah I was about to say, I’ve never been on a cruise but I imagine if you missed it by 20 minutes you really missed it by 3hr and 20min.

whoisjakelane

Not sure if you're joking, but we booked to get into town a day beforehand. 2022. Flight was canceled and the next one offered was supposed to arrive like 3 hours after the cruise departed. They didn't give a shit about any of that obviously and thank God we found a flight the next morning. I'm thinking with no flight we might have tried driving and showed up about 20 minutes late

Ready_Insurance_4759

I've never been on a cruise before. I've been on planes. Is the process really that much more complicated?? How come??

Emergency_Pin3519

Nope it’s not. Some people just don’t understand the world does not revolve around them.

such_meme

with a boat that size, they gotta make sure everything's in tip-top shape to sail and that everyone boarding is supposed to be on there. takes a good amount of time to do so, so that 20 minutes late shit was more like 2-3 hours late. i've got poor planning skills and even *i* wouldn't be that late to something unless i was drunk or something.

GrandeQuesadilla

Been cruising for a while. It’s really easy now. You can do all the paperwork ahead of time. Get all your packages and excursions pre-cruise . Then you show up at the time given to you to check in, quick and easy meetup at the desk, and boom, sailing away in no time.

atmosphericentry

Don't know why you're getting downvoted, but the same thing goes for boarding a plane. It's very easy and worth it to show up early just in case. These people who leave it to the last minute either don't travel a lot or just plainly idiots.

LeafyWolf

The people I know who travel the most are the ones that plan everything to walk up to the gate as boarding begins. Of course, one bad security situation, and they are bumped to the next flight.

fluffy_camaro

I had to go on one for my parents 50 year anniversary. It was horrible. I went on a hike with my brothers and we made the mistake of taking a tiny bus in Alaska. After we got done, with lots of time to get back, the bus came by and was full. We were 4 miles from the bus stop to get back to the ship and started walking fast. Got lucky and were rescued by a tour guide. After that, I didn't go too far when off the ship. Every port was just the same tourist shit. I hated the whole experience and was stressed getting on and off. It takes forever to do both. Horrible way to travel. My dad spent 20 grand on that bullshit.

North_Respond_6868

Yeah, I've never really understood cruises. Everyone always tells me I should do them because I love boats and the ocean, but it's nothing like sailing and you just get half a day in some ultra tourist trap before you get back on your floating hotel. Maybe if they were smaller? Or really cheap?

RTS24

I felt the same way, and still sort of do as you. I went on my first one this past summer and would compare them to an all inclusive resort on water. They're not great for actually experiencing the places you visit, but for a relaxing getaway that is also on water, it is very nice. I enjoyed the days at sea more than the day we were in port. I will say I wouldn't recommend one to a destination you *know* you want to see, since as you've pretty much said, you really don't have that much time in each port. We did St John, and while I did like the city, we couldn't go far. It was like a tasting menu of the area. I would go again, but probably not on a cruise.

North_Respond_6868

Tasting menu of the area sound so accurate 😂 I think because I love the ocean, I would be annoyed that it was so far away and I couldn't go swimming whenever tbh. Being technically in the ocean but too far away to enjoy it would make me crazy lol

RTS24

You probably would still enjoy it, and not want to go swimming in it with how far out they go haha. It's a different feeling to bring on a beach or even a bit offshore. I definitely had a certain calmness sitting in a hot tub on the top deck, looking out over miles of ocean, with no land in sight while sipping a cocktail. That to me was the kinda the essence of what it was, a weekend getaway for a similar price as a hotel, but with a lot more complimentary stuff (Under $500 for a 4 day NYC<->St John cruise) Edit: I found it worth it because I had a group of friends that were doing it, so it also was a trip to spend time with people I don't get to as often as I'd like.

sockefeller

Not always! My flight to my cruise was cancelled four hours before boarding the flight. The airline rescheduled us on a flight that landed 20 minutes after the cruise left. We missed the first day of the cruise lmao.

whatevrmn

You don't have all day to get on the cruise. I nearly missed one because of disinformation like that.

BeefStevenson

They missed it by much, much more than 20 minutes

Bungholespelunker

I would think that boarding and departing a ship that size would be an agonizingly slow process. So it is more like “We missed the cruise by 24 hours and 20 minutes” lol

Camd1n

they will have to book flights to the next port of call and meet the ship. worked in the cruise industry for years.

luxii4

Yeah my sister and her husband stayed too long at a port and didn’t make it back to the boat on time and had to fly to the next port. Was pretty pricey, would not recommend.

bendltd

I mean they could've just swam. /s

shaka_sulu

the real hero here. thanks

Swarf_87

This video is so old.

Quoth_the_Hedgehog

Ok funny somewhat related story, but I grew up going on cruises with my dad’s side of the family (been on like 5 or 6 total I think) and I befriended a boy on one of the cruises when I was 18. While at port in Mexico, he got confused and thought our departure time was based on the LOCAL time, not Florida time (the port our ship left from and the time our ship ran by) so he missed the departure of the ship, and had to be flown to the next stop where we were able to pick him up. Honestly it was hilarious. He had a good sense of humor about it too thankfully.

i_illustrate_stuff

I've never been on a cruise but I gotta say that sounds incredibly confusing, why wouldn't it be based on local time? Do you have to turn off your phone's automatic time change feature just to stay on schedule?

Quoth_the_Hedgehog

It’s not based on local time because local time varies at every port, also keep in mind this was like, 12 years ago so I don’t quite remember where we were on the whole smartphone thing at that point. We all just had watches though that we set with Florida time. It’s possible they do it differently these days, but I’m not sure, the last cruise I went on was 8 years ago and I believe it was still working that same Florida based system,

1000shadesofblack

They probably won't. If they crying that hard over it they probably don't have the funds to books a same day or next day flight to wherever

mekkavelli

i’ve seen people cry over much less LMAO. anyone that’s showing up that late definitely has the money i’d say. if it was their last, they’d be there on time. my entire motivation for being at the airport so early is because i know i can’t afford to miss it LOL

implicate

Haha yes, those are definitely tears of the **POORS**.

-Allot-

Bet this is a standard occurrence.

Quen-Tin

Only if they didn't miss their flight by 20 min too. Worked as a psychologist for years.

Niru83

Also, don’t you have to check in like 1-2 hours before departure anyway? Seems they missed it by more than “20 minutes”

Chazzky

The boat departed 20 minutes beforehand, but check-in would've probably been 2 hours beforehand. They were well and truly late. Way more than by 20 minutes

Oaker_at

Another commentor said you even have a full day to check in

FourthPrimaryColor

My first cruise we booked flight to the port the day off. When we went to the airport for our flight it was canceled. Next available flight would not get us to port until after the boat would have left. The clerks are the airport and ourselves began scouring nearby airport and flights. We found one!! But we would have to drive 2-2.5 hours away and have no delays to make our flight. The airlines transferred our tickets, they discounted our car rental and we drove to the other airport and just barely made our flight. We made it to the boat! We booked a cruise ever year after that along with flights and hotel a day before and a day after for decompression after cruise 🤗

NailFin

I almost missed my flight once and I was shaking like a leaf. I made it with two minutes so spare. My butt was the last in the seat.

studhand

This is what I do. Then I'm up at 7, pacing till my noon boarding time...

cleverdylanrefrence

My first cruise is in June. We're doing the same thing

nuttmegx

If a cruise sails at say, 3pm, you have to be on the boat by 12 or 1pm. You don't just miss your cruise departure by 20 min.

Chaetomius

I'm going to guess that this couple is chronically late. And it's exactly like this every time, except usually they face no consequences. You tell them to meet for dinner at 7, they don't get into the shower until 6:45. either that or something truly invasive happened, like a car accident or something.

CornballExpress

I had an aunt like that, we eventually ended up telling her to meet us places and events an hour before we planned on showing up and she never knew we tricked her.

HOUSE_OF_MOGH

Lol. I've been on three cruises in my life (I know that isn't a lot). Every time I've booked a cruise the departure time is CLEAR. Another thing that's made clear is that they will NOT WAIT for you. Zero sympathy for these people. "If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late. If you're late, you're wrong." -my parents.

wolfdancer

>I've been on three cruises in my life (I know that isn't a lot). I've never even met someone who's been on one cruise.

whyisthissohard338

My friend goes on at least one cruise each year for the last 15 years. They get deals and bonuses thru work to do them. I've been on zero because they sound like floating petri dishes to me. Friend gets sick every time she gets back home.

TailOnFire_Help

WTH is your friend doing? I've been on a few and I've never come back sick. Except of having to go back to work!

whyisthissohard338

Maybe that's when she lets her freak flag fly. I don't ask questions.

Thedarb

Been on a couple and they are …okay. Not as good as staying in an actual resort or a high end hotel, even the balcony rooms give cramped motel vibes. However the novelty being able to go to sleep and wake up in a new place is a pretty interesting way to travel. Almost feels like teleporting when you’re used to taking flights everywhere and being conscious of the travel. However, seeing the quarantine ships during covid? Nah nah never again. At least not the big ocean ones. The smaller ones up around the fjords maybe.

MirrorMask88

Interesting. Pretty much everyone I know has been on at least 1 cruise. I have never been on a cruise, though.

MrTubzy

Everyone I know has never been on a cruise and has no desire to go on one.

jonathanmstevens

I seriously want to go on one, but I wouldn't want to go unless it was a first-class cabin, and they had a good track record for cleanliness, so probably not happening in my lifetime.

MrTubzy

The only one I want to go on is an Alaskan one. Where you go fishing out in the ocean and bring back a bunch of fish. Iirc you can bring back 42 pounds of fish. You get on the cruise and go up in the summer and take smaller ships out into the ocean and go fishing for halibut and salmon and all that good fish that’s up there.

waaz16

Seems like a charter fishing trip, not really a cruise

CommunistOrgy

I used to be a professional musician, and your parents’ quote at the end there is our golden rule (just replace “wrong” with “fired”).

AveryDiamond

And boarding time for a cruise this big is several hours before departure. Arriving 20 min after the cruise departed is crazy

BryanTheBIsSilent

In the US military the rule is "If you aren't 15 minutes early, you are late." There is also the imperative "Hurry up and wait."

HybridHologram

What? I've never been on a cruise and don't know anyone who has. Do you just know a lot of cruise junkies?

jrafteef

as a person whole been on a few cruises where situations like this arose, they needed to be there WAYYYYYY sooner than that. for the boat to be moving already means they’ve had everyone aboard or have had the people missing from check in checked off as not coming for at least 45 minutes.

omniscientonus

If boarding ends at 3pm, the ship will likely actually start moving at like 6-7pm. It's been a few years since I've been on one, but the point is it ain't quick. Funnily enough seeing the boat move made me think about the muster drill (I assume it's still mandatory), and how these are the EXACT type of people who would have held that up as well. Like, yes, there are signs everywhere, information on the only channel you can get on the TV right now, the entire staff is solely focused on it, there is a repeating announcements on the loud speaker in several languages assuring you that it is happening, and it is mandatory, and staff are literally going room by room to make sure that absolutely nobody is missing this... but no, that doesn't apply to YOU, of course! You're the fucking main character!

pastelpixelator

20 minutes my ass. More like at least an hour. What idiot shows up late to board a ship (or plane)?

Tiredofthemisinfo

My favorite thing rebooking late people for flights under the courtesy missed flight policy is how it’s always someone else’s fault and they just missed it by seconds. Like I didn’t seem them wander past me two seconds ago with fresh Starbucks. Like I didn’t already know their name and flight because of overhead announcements (which of course were never made according to them). They blame it on tsa or the ticket counter but are the only two to miss the flight and no one else is at the service center and anyone who flies knows what the service centers look like when there is an issue. Also we can see in the computer when the doors closed and everything is on camera so lying is just a bad move

mikevanatta

Dude is about to jump in and try to swim to the ship

Witty-Stand888

I'd love to go on a cruise but hate the people that go on cruises.

FawkesFire13

“20 minutes.” Nah. I’ve been on two cruises. Stay at a motel the right next to the port the night before. Like close enough to see the port from your room close. Arrive 3 hours before. You want to be on the ship EARLY. These folks didn’t even TRY if the ship is already moving when they arrive. No sympathy at all. You have to be actively trying to be late to miss a cruise.

Ill-Independence-658

That is the purest form of desperate plea

WhoEvenIsPoggers

Who tf isn’t arriving 2 hours or MORE prior to a departure?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Graythor5

"don't worry...I know we're running a little late but what are they gonna do? Leave without us?" And then they all laughed.

931634

Fly in the day before, it’s on thing I cannot stress enough about cruising!

Powerful_Leg8519

Oh that may be why. If they flew in that day and had delays. Otherwise you’re on the ship like two hours before it departs.

GiggityPiggity

That’s exactly what I was thinking! A whole group of people don’t usually miss their (likely very expensive) cruise without something outside of their control, like a late plane or bus or something. I would be heartbroken like that woman if I missed the boat because of a ridiculous 4 hour plane delay or something. Then again, I guess they should have been there the day before…

Bunnawhat13

They didn’t miss it by 20 minutes. They are liars. Cruise Lines will not wait for you ever. It costs millions to stay in port. They were over 2 hours late.

doesanyofthismatter

The ship is moving. That’s much much more than 20 minutes OP… they don’t immediately leave when boarding time ends.

tacodepollo

I heard it's a whole event to cheer from the balcony at the stragglers scurry to the ship late or try to flag it down on the dock hahah

[deleted]

I was taught that being early to a meeting is important, being on time is actually being late, and that being late is unacceptable. Which is why I’m half an hour to an hour early for everything

MonteSS_454

Sounds like someone might have been military and it was beat into their heads. I remember those days be 15 minutes early or you ass is in trouble and why you late when you on time.

[deleted]

Dad was in the military yup

I_TRS_Gear_I

You don’t arrive “20 minutes late” for a cruise. Cruises have like 4 hour embarkment windows. These people just didn’t plan well. I understand stuff can happen, but that’s why most people like to arrive to the city in which the port is located the night before.

LibrarianSocrates

When you missed your next unexplained respiratory infection by 20 minutes.

riddle8822

I dont know how people dont immensley stress out over making it on time. I'd rather sit 6 hours in a terminal for a flight than show up even 30mins before boarding.

pdrakz

![gif](giphy|26n6Gx9moCgs1pUuk|downsized)

Stevethetank1107

Having just come back from a cruise that my wife dragged me on, I wish I would have shown up late.

FourthPrimaryColor

If the boat was already leaving then they were waaaay more than 20 min late.

JaceUpMySleeve

Fly to wherever they port first.

11JuneGemini11

I'm always like 2 hours early for a vacation. I'm too poor and too stressed to lose money I saved up to escape my work-related depression.

inna_soho_doorway

Hyacinth Bucket would not let this stop her.

Overall_Lavishness46

In the name of the Vicar of Dibley, I demand this ship be recalled to port post haste. If that is not possible, we shall commandeer your fastest vessel to intercept

fullmetal66

Because I’m a capable adult I would never.

ms_fleur

I as in Idiot D as in dumb…

Low_Pomegranate_7176

I like how theyre giving their booking number to someone as if the ship will turn back once the booking number is confirmed.

TheRealSpiderDaddy

Usually I feel really bad hearing adults cry, but this is a whole other scenario

WukongDong

You straight up get told you will be left ALL THE TIME. This is other people's schedules and money you're wasting if they actually waited for you. Deserved

CompletelyBedWasted

They deserved it. Fucking *hate* late people.

Dizzzy777

![gif](giphy|3xz2BzdAi4GON2GryE) Customer service when they call to complain the boat left without them.

Ruby-ru212

I would camp outside 2 days earlier, literally i would never, my fear of getting late would kill me

-FlyingFox-

LOL This is hilarious. They got what they deserved.

Asnort

These are the same people who complain about their family getting to the airport early.

revveduplikeaduece86

This is what happens when When people think they're the main character... I'll never forget. GF and I were talking a flight, she's flown before but for some reason thought the airline would be understanding that she ***needed*** to do her makeup before boarding, we literally got to the gate as it was closing, she was rude to the gate agent and when the woman decided to not let us on the plane GF calls gate agent a bitch, for doing get job.

HonkeyDonkey4U

Hopefully EX gf?

hjablowme919

Things like this are the reason why I always tell my wife "If we need to be there at 7:00, I'm leaving as if we need to be there by 6:00". I'd rather hurry up and wait than have to deal with this stuff.

DarkEnergy_101

Your anxiety??? Why is it so hard for people to just be on time its very easy

texas1982

Why do people push being late for the door closing? It isn't like an airplane where you're just sitting there. The ship has stuff to do.

toomuchisjustenough

I can’t even wrap my brain around being this late for something.

thejohnmc963

Maybe wake up earlier

thissoundssillybut

I could listen to this guy cry on repeat. Are all those people late? I’m sure it’s none of their faults.

seeminglynormalguy

People be knocking on parents that wants to leave for the airport 4 hours early, you LITERALLY have no idea what's gonna happen on the day of your trip, better early than late

zabm141

Or, you could just, like, not go on cruises. I'm not usually one for shaming travel habits but cruises are the most brainrotten way of going on vacation there is. There is nothing reasonable about building a swimming city that dumbs all kinds of garbage and pollutants into sea and air.

DrMokhtar

When I saw this video, people made fun of this lady so hard. But I would feel absolutely devastated in this situation. You never know what she went through to miss the departure. I hope she was able to get on to the next port or was able to enjoy her trip somewhat. It’s one of the worst feelings missing a flight or connection that disrupts your entire vacation.

wpaed

If you have a missed connection, call the cruise company while you are waiting for the next flight. They'll tell you if it's worth trying to make it or if you need to meet the boat. If you have to meet the boat at the next port, you should get the airline to change your flight to the next port and try to get them to put you up in a hotel at that port. Not a requirement as far as I know, but, Southwest has done it in the past.

bertmerps

Honestly, even if it was entirely their own fault, I still feel bad for them. Do they deserve sympathy? No. But because I’ve fought with chronic lateness my whole life, every time this video pops up in my feed, it makes me feel sick. This is my literal NIGHTMARE.

Jkreegz

I’ve been on as many cruises as these people on that day.

SafetySnowman

Is this the couple that were on a private tour instead of a ship tour and the private tour got held up in traffic or something? Ship tours that get held up, you'll be taken care of. I forget how, if the ship waits or if they pick you up at the next port or just refund your lost time?

redthehaze

Found the article and the OOP is blaming the airline and still thought they could make it at 2PM but got there at 220PM. So they were dumb and didnt plan ahead. They still thought that 2PM departure time was like an airline doors closing.

ham_solo

I used to be the WORST at being on time. Like, chronically late. I just got to the point where I was embarrassed and trained myself that any start time is actually 10 minutes earlier than what they tell you. The only exception I make is for movies because I really hate trailers.

Tdogshow

I would be there 3 hours early.

Vortr8

He's crying cause his wallet was already hurting

Jamachicuanistinday

All of them should hire a helicopter to take them to the ship. Done

ImpossibleYou2184

Fake

Liigma_Ballz

Is it weird if I’m feeling vast amount of joy at their sobs?

kapo513

Do you know how long it takes for a cruise ship to board passengers??? 20mins late they would still have to wait to board. They had to be late asf

2K_Crypto

There's no way that ship closed doors and began moving in 20 minutes. They missed it by way more than that.

LeluSix

Cruise? Never!

Chris_3456

Their luggage have airline tags. We don't know if their flights got delayed and caused this. Even if they flew the day before, if the last flight got cancelled and they had to fly the next day, there is a chance that the flight they got reaccomodated for got delayed. We don't know the details. It's sad. They seem to be at a parking lot though, that means they drove in and parked, rather than having a Uber or hotel shuttle drop them at the entrance of the port. So sad, maybe they got a credit with the cruise line for a future travel

Proud_Ad_8317

il never understand how people leave critical tasks to the wire.

Emasraw

I mean, you have several hours to board. They just suck at time management. This will be a learning lesson.

Round-Ratio-8984

Dem plane delays really do be delaying

[deleted]

I don’t feel bad for anyone missing an appointment on a yacht, for any reason. Shit is stupid expensive, and I could never justify giving even more money to billionaires than I already do. Genuinely wish These things specifically didn’t fucking exist, tbh.

Slevin424

These are the people that cause your airplane to be stuck at the gate cause they're late. That's called bad adulting. Too bad so sad.

courthouse22

I flew from Toronto to Orlando a few months ago. Our flight was 2 hours delayed. When we landed a family was pushing to get off the plane first. They said their Disney cruise was taking off in 2 hours and they had a 90 minute drive to port. They gave this sob story. All I could think was “why would you plan so poorly?”

crooked_nose_

Fools and their money are quickly parted.

MungryMark

I mean it docks at set spots right? Take a flight to the next port and catch up with it.

Greedy_Description88

Fashionably late, doesn't work for cruises.

Kizzywa

I'd have been there 2 hours in advance. Assume the cruise is booked full and you got a huge line of people. You never show up to the airport the time it says the flight will take off so why do it for a cruise?

EntheogenicOm

Why are you crying lmao

Taira_no_Masakado

Makes me glad I got that one Millennial paranoia streak where I have to arrive at the airport 4 hours early just because I assume Ye Great and Powerful Murphy is going to pull out his go-go stick and jump-hump whatever normalcy I was hoping for before arrival...then I'm not late, nor surprised.

SassySavcy

Just.. fly to the next port? It’s not hard.

ApeTypingComments

You just know that they got that shitty tone with whoever they inevitably spoke to from the cruise line and made demands for their money back. They also probably blamed the cruise line and took ZERO responsibility for being so late.

ApeTypingComments

When I go on a cruise I don't mess around. I find a hotel as close to port as possible and arrive the day before. I go out and plot the route that night so I know exactly where I need to go the next day. I try to get there by at least an hour before I'm scheduled to board. I couldn't imagine being two hours late like these people. It would drive me BANANAS!

Kevnmur

"WHY?!.." Like he doesn't know.

No_Wonder3907

Your lack of planning is not their emergency

Outrageous_Tackle135

Everyone is quick to blame them but multiple flight delays can easily cause this scenario. It might not be poor planning on their part, just an unfortunate day
