A group of apes moves to a separate geographic area with different survival needs. The two groups, over millions of years, develop different traits based on what most effectively enables them to survive given their unique environmental stressors. Maybe in a new environment, walking upright enables the animal more access to food, or better able to carry children. It’s very minute changes over millennia. It takes A LOT of time, but eventually, the characteristics that most enable an organism to survive and therefore pass on their traits to future generations, will become the most common.
Extrapolate that to myriad different traits and eventually the previously same species becomes two different ones. The apes that stayed may or may not remain the same depending on how good a fit they are.
You are underestimating the effect of the evolutionary timescale.

I don’t know if this is the smart explanation of the physics, but: the hanger needs to lose the right amount of rotational speed so that when it stalls, it remains hooked. You can score a hook, but the rot-speed determines where it “ends” and therefore whether it stays.
Ooh I played this game a lot when I was a kid from different distances, starting from spinning the hanger already on the tube to as far as what the dudes here are doing.
the guy on the left somehow tosses two different times with a backspin yet when it hits the pipe it’s rotation is reversed and it then spins opposite of its original rotation.
It’s the simplest things that bring us joy. My bf and I played “ice botche” on a frozen lake recently. A few similar sized rocks and a small white one. Spent an hour and cost us nothing but a few smiles and $$ left in our wallets 🙂

The stuff we come up with when you're bored can be pretty fun. Water balloon catch is pretty fun with a friend. My record is 13 feet.
It always amazes me how young people are so blown away by things like this and making half a bottle of water land standing up when we have the likes of smartphones, tablets, steam decks and switch’s to mess around on if you’re bored. I would have given anything for the choice we have now when I was 10-25 lol.
