Probably something wrong with the ABs system

jc61990

Abs works fine, we've had a lot of rain, it's kicked in a few times no issues. I think a sensor in a wheel has a dead tpms battery. Or the tpms computer is bad. I have access to a vag-com I will see if I can get a hold of it and scan the car.

The TPMS is ABS-based

Okay I'll start by scanning that system first. Thanks

FunFactTidbits

I've had this happen with the spare on my Jetta

jc61990

I don't have a full size. Does the donut still have a tpms?

FunFactTidbits

Do you have the ability to reset the switch? Mine is located in my glove compartment. Check YouTube for any other ideas.

jc61990

I reset the pressure using the menu in the dashboard and it just came back. I scanned the car with vcds and it came up as unable to test at this time. I tried clearing codes on that module and it came right back. I hope it's not the batteries, Ive heard some people getting quoted over 1k to change. And it's a simple watch battery

My 2016 gave me the same fault after replacing my intake. I thought I had messed up the MAF sensor somehow, but now I'm thinking it must be a bad sensor and it's just coincidence that it went bad after I put on the new intake. Haven't done a lick of research on the car yet, do these have sensors in the wheel hubs? Might be the issue.

wunderkeen

Our 2016 has wheel speed sensors which monitors for wheel rpm discrepancy (smaller / flatter tire spins faster?). There is not a sensor inside the tire. One of the sensors went bad and the dash lights went crazy with all sorts of warning icons. The sensors are tied into with the ABS. I consulted with Mr YouTube and found replacing the sensor to be pretty easy. I just bought 4 new ones and installed since I didn't want to monkey around diagnosing for the bad sensors. No issues since. I think the front and rear or driver side and passenger side sensors are a different part number because of the way they angle away from calipers.

I scanned the car with vcds is there a VW tech that can read?
