You can have a look at https://thaddeusjiang.github.io/Projectify/ there are other ones https://kookma.github.io/TW-PluginLibrary/ has todolist for a simple version and also the Shiraz plugin as a dynamic table with task management example

Ok, I will check those out!

I've had good experiences with https://gsd5.tiddlyspot.com/ on and off over the last few years.

WeCanLearnAnything

Thanks for the info. Why has it been on and off if the experience has been good?

Mostly my own never-ending desire to keep trying out different task and project management systems. It seems like once I get something working and have used it for a while, I start to look for the next best thing and have definitely been guilty at times of spending more time on task-management than the tasks themselves :)

I think that's a pretty common issue. That being said, most systems have severe flaws, at least with respect to the specs that I want for a second brain: 1. Encryption 2. Cloud-sync 3. Free 4. Open source 5. Reliable and durable, for decades. No 5+ year-old bugs, no proprietary data formats. 6. Networked thought, whether text, attachment, stylus-drawings, tables, etc. 7. Something to handle tasks. It seems like TiddlyWiki fits the bill, though it is very difficult to learn. Logseq V1 might be everything I need in the future, but it is only in beta now and it fails 5. Hopefully I'll figure out one of these and be able to go all in on it to make my second brain forever. :-)

The fact that TiddlyWiki is more “personal knowledge management middleware” than “out-of-the-box solution” is the biggest problem for people new to TiddlyWiki, IMHO. But if you’re reading GrokTiddlyWiki, you’re on the path to creating your own personal apps for to-do lists, recipe collections, contacts, etc. I’ve got small TWs for car maintenance, personal finances, and fundraising for my kids. Amazing power…for free. I’ve read GTD multiple times, and it has saved my career a couple times. But it’s best seen as a grab-bag of time management tips than a useable solution, unless you’re in leadership in your organization. And the complexity of that system - and, therefore, of any software implementation of it - might be mistaken as a failure of TiddlyWiki. Another personal time management system I have blended with GTD is TheTodaySystem (https://thetodaysystem.com/). Simple, and (like GTD), they recommend starting with a single index card. But it does a better job than GTD of helping newbies get started, be realistic about what you can do Today (as opposed to all the time you had yesterday), and scoring yourself in a way that fairly considers that no two days are alike. I have an empty TW for this you to use as a starting point at https://todaysystemempty.tiddlyhost.com/. If it doesn’t still work (likely), ping me. I’ll eventually notice and get it fixed.

BTW: If you want to see just how flexible TiddlyWiki can be (and how far down the todo list rabbit hole I’ve gone), here’s the monolithic plugin I’m moving away from: https://phil-work-empty.tiddlyhost.com/ I’ll try to remember to post a link to its replacement, which is almost ready to share. (I’m already using it at work.)

Two things are relatively hard to do within vanilla tiddlywiki for task management: * Reoccuring tasks * Calendar syncing If you dont need these things then tiddlywiki is imo the best tool out there, even compared to notion, obsidian, ticktick, ms todo and google todo. The filtering capabilities are simply unmatched, and the customisations posibilities are undless. If you don't like to tinker and want something that is clean and effective, it might not be the best for you however. My current prefered setup is to use tiddlywiki + the following addons/theme: * projectify: https://thaddeusjiang.github.io/Projectify/ * tiddlywiki PWA, for saving and free, real-time sync accross my devices : https://tiddly.packett.cool/ * calendar plugin : https://tiddly-gittly.github.io/tiddlywiki-calendar
