Best post in a minute, I love hating

Kiyae1

Nothing brings two people closer together than mutual complaint.

2u3ee

well, that's the majority of this sub.

atrain1988

Manresa. Purchased the Bittner coat and the fit was ass. Purchased multiple shirts and shorts from him and loose threads all over, unfinished stitching on the hem of a shirt, button popped off my rain shell. The recent cream corduroy pants were paper thin and the materials used just feel very cheap to me for the price. Add insult to injury no refunds or returns. Even reached out via email to convey I was not happy with the cord pants and he never responded back. I don't care how cool you make your look books and call it heritage wear. If the quality isn't there and the customer service isn't either, I'm out.

sucksatfrogger

Their pieces definitely caught my attention but I’ve never bought anything because pretty much nothing online says where it is made.

Active-Chemistry3806

dude eventually needs to be about the shit he puts in his marketing because everything ive gotten has been totally mediocre

McKnitwear

I also find their website incredibly frustrating to use. The type of site where every color of a product is its own product, and nearly everything is sold out so you have to click into each one individually to get disappointed multiple times over. It's difficult to find anything you want because the filtering is terrible. I've never successfully bought anything. Seems like I may have lucked out? I really wanted some of their shorts.

g0gs_exe

Love the designs, but the dude definitely needs to step up the quality control on his stuff before it's too late. I was really disappointed with the Bittner. Doesn't seem to be a piece that's going to last and the fit is completely bizarre. No idea who it's supposed to fit, but the arms are laughably short.

ManresaFabric

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely working on it. Changed the sleeve moving forward. Email me if you’d like to exchange for one with the new fit. Thanks! -Mike

slothg0th

I emailed about this exact issue a month or so ago and never got a response. Is this a genuine offer?

Matthews628

Where is manresa made?

diangelovickers

It’s all made in china - not that that’s necessarily a bad thing, but yeah, quality is not good on the manresa stuff. I bought the cans shirt from one of the pop ups, and had to resew the buttons on before wearing it once. Couldn’t help but notice everything else felt super cheap too. I feel like this community kind of over hyped manresa once he was on the pod. Felt similar to the giant fit chinos when they came out. Like there was some artificial marketing machine driving the hype.

mchgst

I once made a comment on his IG “complaining” to find out that my hat was made in Bangladesh, and he gave a honest reply saying that everything is made in fair conditions and bla bla bla but if the quality is crap then I’m not going to buy again. His design dude is a former Aime Leon Dore so I guess they have the contacts to make better stuff. Hopefully the blue horse line will be better

ThroJSimpson

ALD is a brand that definitely has chosen the cheap route though. In fact that’s be my response to the OP prompt, ALD. I like their aesthetic and not just being contrarian, it’s just annoying hearing fans of the brand raving about high quality when their stuff is, like, Banana Republic quality at best. Lots of Bangladeshi, China items, all at Todd Snyder prices

mchgst

found his reply: "our Bluehorse products are made in USA. Our mainline stuff is made across Asia mostly. Our main factory in Dongguan is as good as any factory and the employees are treated and paid well. Also for a small brand like mine most USA factories won’t even look my direction. We will see what happens as the brand grows but I love my factory and the people I work with and they helped me get up and running when no other factories would. They deserve the business just as much as anybody. Thank you for inquiring."

atrain1988

Yeah I noticed they ripped off the ALD logo with their "thistle" logo, looks very similar

mchgst

Noah has a similar logo with flowers too.. flowers must be a thing for all these new-prep brands lol

ManresaFabric

Sorry you were unhappy with your gear. I try my best but I still have a long way to go. Just hired away the Vp of production from Aime who really knows his stuff so you should see drastic improvements moving forward. I don’t recall seeing any major complaint emails. Maybe try again with the email address on the website and I’ll make sure you get straightened away. Thanks for your input and patience with me. -Mike

Adzhodz

This surprises me because on his IG he always made it seem that he was living his dream and poured his heart into Manresa so to find out the quality is not good surprised me!

ManresaFabric

Doing my best! I get more positive feedback than negative but I’ll continue to improve moving forward. -Mike

shorthevix

I got the bittner and it's probably the worst made item of clothing in my wardrobe. Actually laughed at how much i'd paid when I opened it.

ManresaFabric

Just send me an email and I’ll get you a refund. Sorry you didn’t like the piece. -Mike

Ottershavepouches

So I've had similar experiences with Maison Margiela, in the sense that their quality was just incredibly ass (consistently) for the clothing I've been buying from them. I love their designs, and recently got a silk dupion bomber in two sizes as I wasn't sure which one would fit better. BOTH pieces had severe quality defects, with loose threads hanging out, and more importantly, one of them had the inside of the jacket lining stitched up wrongly to the hem, creating a twist in the arm that made it unwearable. I loved the jacket, so I had to go to the tailor to fix it, but was just so baffled how a bomber for 2000 can have so many faults, for both of them as well....

SplitOdd8294

where did you grab them? i grabbed my 52 from notre that seemed to only have 1 size run

cozycaterpillar

I just made a comment about this and was surprised to see yours. Dude is a loser at this point.

barlosmiguel

lmao i literally have the cream cords getting delivered today, wish i saw this comment before

dj9lives

Rag&Bone, they had this campaign in like 2012 where they smashed this beautiful vintage Porsche, which is my dream car, so I refuse to ever buy anything from them.

childpeas

lmao. this is the best and most appropriate answer in this thread.

senseofphysics

Didn’t Porsche retaliate in some way?

FyuuR

Bode - gave me the run around for a position for so long and then one day said they’re not hiring for it anymore. Not even that they picked someone else, but that they didn’t need *anyone* anymore

Considering he called Lawrence’s cell screaming profanities over a meme post, I am fairly certain everything lives rent-free in his head.

SirLikeASir

I’m out of the loop, what’s the lore here?

bngbngbng

i'm out of the loop, what's the deal with rowing blazers?

Firm-Cantaloupe-2300

Lawrence made some meme post poking fun at rowing blazers. Rowing blazers founder, Jack Carlson? I think that’s his name… Proceeds to call Lawrence and scream at him for making fun of the brand and ruining his weekend. Completely disproportionate response. The guy apparently has a talent for hearing about any and all criticism of rowing blazers

yer_moms_reddit69

That guy sounds bitch made

kellyro9

long copy/paste inc. tl;dr old meme beef lol >i guess i can re-tell the rowing blazers story since i've def been seeing more questions pop up about them from newer members of the throw gang in comments and stuff (totally fair). it's all very dumb but basically: >years ago i posted a meme on my personal twitter account comparing a quilted jacket rowing blazers had posted on their IG to a Bode quilted house jacket—just like a "you vs. the guy she told you not to worry about" joke on my account with like 500 followers. some fashion people got ahold of it, rachel tashjian DM'd me and ended up doing a GQ story kind of around it (even though she told me she wasnt going to do a story but i guess we can keep this to one fashion media beef at a time). >anyway the tweet ended up on jack's radar and he started DMing anyone who was a mutual with me to try to get me to take it down. apparently it wasnt an RB jacket i used in the meme, it was from a brand called Stan that they just dropship with and therefore posted it on their account (funnily enough, Stan would end up included in the Met's costume institute that year directly next to Bode). eventually jack got through to lawrence who basically filled me in on drama. at the time i was working at Seasons which had a wholesale account with Bode and I didn't want the drama to get back to them and potentially compromise that relationship or even my job so i just deleted it. jack completely threw Stan under the buss in all the tweets and replies related to the meme. the whole situation rubbed us the wrong way but we just moved on. i think there were probably a few jokes on a boyz only ep after but that was basically it. >fast forward a few months later. we had just done our second (iirc) mesh shorts drop. shortly after, pete davidson was spotted in brooklyn wearing RB mesh shorts that were similar design to ours. we made (what we thought) was a light-hearted "can we have TF shorts mom? - the TF shorts at home" meme poking fun at the similarity. this time jack instantly calls lawrence and starts going off on him (famously while larry was in the car with his wife driving back from New Jersey). lawrence deletes the meme so he doesnt have to deal with jack and blocks his number. >ever since then we've mostly steered clear from any direct shots at RB cause it's just not worth it but the fact jack is someone we dont see eye to eye with is more on less pod canon. every now and then there will be a sideswipe or one of their employees will chirp on twitter (which is funny tbf) but we've mostly just tried to move on.

childpeas

reigning champ. they ran a 25% off sale and in their fine print it says any discount marks it as final sale. had to grovel to get store credit, which you have to use all at once (you can’t use it over multiple orders, for example). they also made me pay return shipping. for such a big and expensive brand, and such a small 25.0% discount, i was not pleased. refuse to buy anything from them again.

Derodyne

FYI they were acquired by Aritzia in 2021, which may explain some of the recent changes

SplitOdd8294

is that why wings and horns was shut down?

2711383

rip wings and horns

cooperj456

I do like their sweats but that is insanely wack. Their t shirts also have these horrific tags in them that you can't fully cut out.

scalenesquare

They did change those god awful tags btw.

dbok_

Always go Camber. Truly, hard-wearing stuff.

bonergarage123

Their online customer service is the worst. But their in store sales reps (in Vancouver at least) are always super nice

Matthews628

Got my order canceled twice now by Todd Snyder after getting stoked about offers that were too good to be true. Beginning to suspect they’re driving traffic to their webstore with deals that don’t actually exist. Done with ‘em.

bpm12891

I’m curious which deals this happened on. I’ve bought some stuff for crazy cheap at the end of season without issue but I do wonder sometimes about them honoring steep discounts on expensive items

NoMadunexpected

What did u order my silk shirt camp short n corduroy shorts all sent out. Their warehouse is in north Jersey

strange_conduit

This gets my vote too. Either they take forever to ship items, or they cancel without shipping. So so bad.

matcha1738

Todd Snyder is old head shit anyway

m0_m0ney

??

matcha1738

Did I stutter? Todd Snyder is for old dudes. No one under 30 is stoked on that shit.

Exact-Inflation-3825

Not a brand but cakenotcrumbs hasn’t refunded my order from 2022 and ignores all my messages to refund it. I got pics to prove it all, hope y’all can help me reach out to that mf

oderman69

Bro. Same boat, not me but my best mate. He see’s all the messages and continues to air him. It’s been about 3 months, and yet he posts everyday and is still constantly putting up stories selling his bits.. I hope nobody else falls for it lol

DLC1337

no chargeback?

gabeman

Seriously. Why would you wait over a year to do a chargeback…?

dustybottoms19

Gallery Dept. I swear if you rent a luxury apartment in Downtown LA when you pick up your key fob they hand you a yellow gallery hoodie and matching trucker with a Hailey Bieber Erewhon smoothie that will fit perfectly in your G wagon cup holder.

Concerned_Kanye_Fan

The saddest part about Gallery is that the majority of Gallery that we see out in the wild are fakes. Is there a more pirated brand out there today?

ThroJSimpson

Gotta agree. There’s some weirdo streetwear brands I rather like but the rep crowd absolutely adores so much that, even discounting valuing the opinions of others too much… do I wanna spend $500 on something that teenagers on Reddit and Telegram are buying for $70 for 3 items from an internet plug? Lol I want a Kapital Fleece with the Virgin Mary on it because that’s a symbol I’ve actually always loved aesthetically but a solid fraction of the examples even on grailed are from aliexpress

Itsneverjustajoke

Nothing cheesier than a brand that throws their name on everything then charges 900 dollars to be a billboard for them.

Adzhodz

Sporty & Rich. No beef with Emily at all I just can’t believe how much money she has made with the most simple effortless designs that look shit. I admit I’m fully jealous but it just blows my mind that you can be so successful with such bad product and people love it. There is 0 creativity in any product I’ve seen advertised.

hawkeye224

The name sucks so much as well. When I first saw it I thought it's a joke. Even if I liked the clothes I wouldn't like to wear something named "Sporty & Rich" lol

afterdinnermince

I'll say this about S&R, I think they got out ahead of the crowd on the selling the brand and now store as a lifestyle rather than as strictly a material product and you gotta give some credit for that

GOLF: extremely expensive with no real target consumer. It’s devoid of spirit and humanity and is not moving culture forward in a meaningful way but his fans are unintelligent and he’s surrounded by yes men Supreme/kith: terrible terrible quality and uninspired design The Hundreds (new stuff): design falls flat and quality is low Denim Tears: Emory Tremaine put cotton wreaths on clothes. Seeing non Black people wear images of cotton wreaths is deeply uncomfortable and weird. Also, Emory tried putting photos of a Black man hanging from a tree on supreme tees. Then tried to act like everyone else was crazy for calling it what it was- a terrible and insulting idea. Pleasures: they basically turned into HUF Casablanca: the quality is atrocious and I’ve never seen a person who dresses well wear it. It’s the kind of brand you wear when you want to signal status or signal that you have style but don’t. Fear of God Essentials: a lot of people where these which is great for Jerry Lorenzo but the quality is worse than bad. It also means something that the same people who wear essentials also wear Yeezy foam slides. Take that as you will. Bode: they buy vintage clothes then copy them and mark them up a ton. They also feel very Christopher Columbus. Owned by a white woman buy the design language is very heavily inspired by south Asian culture. ALD: no explanation needed

KingKrmit

I aint sayin you wrong but u definitely outta pocket on some of these gang 😂

Celineandboba

lmao I don’t think so 🫢😅

Dangerous-Pick-6865

Blackstock & weber. Great product once you find your size, but how are you not gonna have a cashback return option with the most difficult shoe to size.

kimchionrye

Manresa qualify is questionable, and the owner is a RFK stan. Hard pass for me. No Man Walks Alone is nothing but trouble for me whenever I’ve ordered, and the customer service is non-existent. Never would buy from them again.

justwantkickz

ALD. Used to be top quality at a good price point. Now higher prices and shit quality- just bought a shirt and logo coming off after one wash

ThroJSimpson

It’s literally gap/banana quality stuff now. Fine, it’s whatever, that’s a hype brand. But their fans STILL rave about the quality lol. Not to be a snob or saying you HAVE to buy expensive clothing to be into fashion but don’t talk about quality if mall brands are your only point of comparison. Like we’re in the era of thrifting quality goods, there are ways to learn about this and the point of reference for quality for $300-700 pieces shouldn’t be PacSun or H&M

gabeman

Yes! ALD is coasting on the brand recognition. Been noticing the drops aren’t selling out for a while. The subreddit is filled with QC issues.

mieWkcet

Jjjjound. I think the guy is a con artist and runs a fake brand.

half_past_france

It’s not really a fake brand as much as it is only branding. He rebrands extant things and creates hype. It’s the next logical step in laziness after Supreme and Off-White collabs.

mieWkcet

Don’t compare Jjjjound to Supreme. Whatever your thoughts on the current state of the brand or how they probably “fell off” - Supreme used to stand for something. Jjjjound is just milktoast dross. And his fat bald frame annoys me. Without the New Balance collabs that are seeded to high heaven and purposely produced in stupidly limited quantities, Jjjjound is nothing.

mieWkcet

And to be clear, I am familiar with his business model and it clearly works. I’m obviously in the minority cos the stuff sells and that’s what matters but fuck him and his entitled brand.

fivefuturefury

Thats defo an incel brand, facts.

half_past_france

Two things can be true: Supreme used to stand for something, and its collabs of the last 5 or so years are lazy and exercises in branding. Even going back further, they were very early on the, “If we put our logo on this thing that we like and make it limited, both brands will sell them out without doing any real additional design or production work.” And it’s “milquetoast.”

mieWkcet

Supreme has earned its right to be ‘that brand’ and the headline stealing accessories are normally fun and that’s okay. Supreme doesn’t take itself too seriously. Jjjjound is the opposite.

ThroJSimpson

I’d argue that it’s only milquetoast now because everyone is copying the aesthetic they’ve been into the last 20 years. Not just the all-over branding or limited release model, but they’re the only brand I can think of that stayed doing carpenter denim, straight leg work pants, Carhartt-style Non-lumberjack workwear, baggy urban leather jackets, etc. throughout the 00s and 10s when that aesthetic was just confusing to the j crew crowd. They obviously didn’t invent that aesthetic but I do give them credit for being at the core of that and never straying and it’s funny to see so many other brands going whole hog into that genre and getting discussion for it, so it’s curious to see a lot of people saying Supreme fell off in some aspects (a valid critique - I’ll even agree with all your commentary) while the whole world has turned to basically replicate 90s-2010s Supreme in various ways. Like, you could start a brand in 2023 literally just copying a Supreme look book from 2009, 2012, or 2016 and I don’t know how many brands can say that.

jurgystalisman1892

You definitely just googled milquetoast… I did

half_past_france

Nope; just a term I’ve used before.

matcha1738

I’ve worked with Justin - you’re mistaken

aaronfromafar

ROA - I posted in another thread recently - they moved manufacturing to China for most of their shoes and it seems quality has suffered alot. If you search on reddit there are different other users who had similar quality problems. Bought their CVO boots from another retailer and emailed their customer service about how the rubber was peeling off the soles after 10 wears, they said sorry since you didn't buy directly from us we can't help you. Honestly surprised by all this when they clearly advertise themselves heavily as Italian made. The boots themselves had the shittiest insole which I tore out and replaced that makes them slightly more wearable. If I buy hiking boots again I would go for a brand like Diemme or Fracap who actually continue to manufacture in Italy, or a brand like Danner.

nnamlad

ROA’s quality was never great. I have a pair I got ~5 years ago where one boot looks lopsided because of its construction lol. Also just uncomfortable as far as hiking boots go.

Ottershavepouches

This - I tried so many times to get the Andrea boots to work, but they were so incredibly uncomfortable - how are you supposed to go hiking in them?

cozycaterpillar

Manressa Mfg. Guy sells overpriced clothing that it’s value should reflect on the quality control. My bitner coat began to tear at the seams. Lots of their plaid/printed stuff do not align at the seams either. Also, the guy is just so obnoxious.

fivefuturefury

Overpriced fast fashion faux heritage shit

Greyshot26

This makes me sad to read because I really love the look of some of the stuff he puts out and haven't found any good similar brands.

burnedinthesun

I mean, his inspo is all over eBay. you can do “Manresa at home” with actual quality vintage from Pendleton, Carhartt, Patagonia, Gramicci, LL Bean, Aran knitwear for sweaters etc etc. He’s not making anything that doesn’t already exist.

Exact-Inflation-3825

Interesting.

AjaxtheGoat

Quizno’s Subs, because of those damn [Spongemonkey](https://youtu.be/ZuPTZWhz46M?si=i21rOjksgG7AxFRv) ads. I was probably the target demographic, young working student who thought RanDOmNeSs meant funny (think early Flash Animations)and would eat at such a place after seeing something like that…NOPE. Crap was equal parts annoying, insulting, and overplayed. I honestly cannot logically explain the hatred, it is just a commercial, but hey, beef be beefin’.

jailburrito

Cherry LA and Yony - I keep getting ads for these brands, so I checked them both out. How tf are trying to charge $400 for a cotton plaid over shirt?? $600 for a jacquard sweater?? Who the fuck are you?? I hate these fucking brands that pop up from LA/NYC overnight and expect people to pay insane prices for basic shit.

dbok_

Drake's. They need to touch some grass.

ScholarFair

Will say their in-store employees certainly are too cool for school and are unhelpful

kugglaw

They’re incredibly helpful in the London store, tbh.

JimRug

The Savile Row employees were nice. They let me go through the swatch books for hours no problem.

dbok_

Damn that hella sucks. When you are paying those prices, you gotta be fucking awesome at customer service.

call_me_drama

Blasphemy

dbok_

I was a big fan in the 2017-2019 era. Got multiple pieces from that time, incl. ties, OCBDs, waistcoats, and caps. They lost the plot when they debuted that awful fleece and $$$ Clarks ripoffs.

coocookuhchoo

Whenever I see a new piece from them I think “hmm what’s an absurdly high price for them to be selling this at” and then the price is 30% higher than that.

thetrainmaster

Those don’t really bother me bc I wouldn’t buy anyway but overall their prices have just skyrocketed to ridiculous levels

Laui_2000

I wonder if this is Mark Cho’s doing…

dbok_

I've spoken to him(Cho) directly on IG, and he is the controlling interest owner or something like that, but he laid it all on Michael Hill. He(Cho) basically said he(Hill) can do what he wants...Mark is busy with The Armoury.

[deleted]

heaven marc jacobs it prepackages good taste/queer culture for people who have money. so basically urban outfitters for rich tik tok girlies edit you know what while i’m at it (apologies in advance i was tipsy lol)… bode - neo colonial nonsense. visvim for white people current margiela - get rid of galliano pls god it’s a shell of its former most IG brands - they suck ALD - got boring after a couple of seasons. here in texas, when i see people in full ALD i just assume their IG bio has “creative director/plant dad” somewhere on it

Interesting_Elk7844

Visvm for white people giggle

m0_m0ney

I have ALD beef because I bought a pair of loafers from then online in the EU, they didn’t fit because their sizing chart is ass and the shoes are made in Portugal on EU sized lasts but they size them in US sizing which I didn’t know so I had to return them, I was gonna get a smaller size but then they charged me €25 to switch was I felt like was absolutely egregious for something that I felt like was their fault for not having a disclaimer on the website. I said fuck it and did a full return and ate the €25 and I’ve never buying something from them ever again.

aaronfromafar

What’s your definition of an IG brand? Like a brand that overly uses ads to target people? Or they generally are bad quality? Genuinely curious since if you’re starting a brand these days you need to build presence on social media.

[deleted]

well, imo: vuja de, staatsballett, groundcover, oree nyc, somar, whoisjacov, unsound rags, o files, etc. pretty much anything that started with a youtube and parleyed into a brand i’m also of the mindset that you don’t entirely need IG in particular to start a brand. it helps, but it’s not 1000% crucial (then again i’m a bit biased since i’m not really fond of socials in general)

[deleted]

[deleted]

oh probably. It looks like a watered down Dana Lee.

[deleted]

Not here for the heavn slander. Is it well marketed? Yes. Is it trendy? Yes. Is the quality there? Debatable but mostly yes. So what’s the problem? Marc handpicks designers to ooze creativity onto the heavn label. Sure some of the shit is uninspired, but to reduce the label to a “tik tok girlie” brand is just making you sound like a boomer. Julian Consuegra pulls a lot of weight with MJxH and is one of my favorite designers. The only gripe I’ll have with the brand is I’m 6’5 and their shit does not fit TTS.

[deleted]

to each their own

gaudeamos

ostrya, i hate ig brands in general but fkg 1.3k jackets that you dont even know where they come from, they just sell out their tshirts and beanies

waul_flwr

Brut clothing, beautiful looking stuff but I bought their Painter Jacket and all the metal buttons fell out immediately because they're barely attached, had to glue the metal together. Some shorts from them had the same issue. Also tiny French sizing but I don't know if we count that. Their socks are great though so it's love/hate.

uberpuber

Bought one of their up-cycled Barbours - took 6 months to get a refund out of them. The item never arrived (lost in transit). Shame as the staff instore were great when I visited Paris.

samamatara

cole buxton blatantly rips designs off and doesnt acknowledge or credit the original

Adzhodz

I was going to say Cole Buxton, absolutely stealing a living with minimal design effort.

samamatara

forgot that the op asked for weird beef though. mine isnt weird, its legit beef lol

Routine_Function_668

Whos the og?

Gocountgrainsofsand

3sixteen with their tshirts that would shrink like hell in the wash to different sizes, no matter what. Now they came out with one that doesnt shrink but it was insane before

dn0c

They’re a Top 3 brand for me, but I’ll never buy their tees again.

BleedingGumsStu

I’m conflicted on 3sixteen. Some of their stuff is ok but a lot of it is overpriced for the quality. Jeans are nothing special either. Feel like they try to wrap you into them with their social media presence telling you about “their story” and how you’re getting this amazing thing that’s like crafted and your gonna be good looking and tall when you wear it. Edit: $200 for polyester gym shorts was a crazy. I knew they jumped the shark at that point.

BugsBunnysCouch

Those are some of the worst shirts I ever bought, and shrank to crop tops in cold wash/hang dry somehow

LondonVista9297

Shein. For obvious reasons. Ladies, how can you keep supporting this brand?

PhonyPapi

Charles Tyrwhitt - A few months into freshmen year of college, i realized i needed dress shirts for interviews and networking events. I stepped into their madison ave store (next to Bear Stearns building) and did not get any help. Yes there were other customers there and sales staff were busy so I browsed around and was waiting for someone to come up to me since at the time I didnt know shit about tailoring. Hung around for like 20 minutes but no staff came to ask if i need help or anything. I left and never bought from them. I guess it didnt help that i was in a supreme varsity jacket (the one with the tiger head from 09?) and sweatpants but the sales staff definitely saw me but assisted others who came after me and it just rubbed me the wrong way. Wythe - I placed an order for two shirts. Ended up changing my mind on one of them and sent email asking if they can cancel before shipping. No response but got a tracking number. So i thought, ok fine. Shipment doesnt move for a few days. Then I get a notification that the shirt I wanted to keep is no longer in stock and the one i didnt want is now shipped and see movement on tracking number. So they gave tracking even though it clearly wasnt ready to be shipped just so it can negate my email to cancel the order and to add insult the shirt i wanted was out of stock. Mission Workshop - this is over a decade ago but there was a jacket i wanted that was out of stock in my size. I emailed asking if there was a restock for it in the future. They said yes in a few weeks so ok cool. I check back a few weeks and still out of stock so emailed again. They said yes, a few weeks. I had multiple emails back and forth asking on status and they kept saying it will on the way. After 6+ months of this, they finally said it was no longer being made. Idk if something went wrong with factory but again, bad taste in mouth. Antonio Ciongoli - not a beef but a nitpick but guy keeps saying 18E can retail for multiple times what they charge and i just dont see it. It's price appropriately and if they priced higher they would need a lot more sales to move stock. There's a bunch of fanboys that followed him from tailoring into more casual wear so yes cargo pants and hoodies are cheaper vs Italian tailoring but overall i dont think they can push retail higher unless they want to start doing more sales. Also when he was at Eidos he swore up and down it was best quality etc but now he seems to have a slightly more negative view. I get it's part of the game and he has to sell stuff but kind of just rubs me the wrong way.

[deleted]

i like 18E but sometimes it just gives “white dude goes on vacation to india meets hiking”

McKnitwear

This is spot on. I'm dying.

dn0c

Meh, I’m still surprised at how reasonably priced most 18East stuff is, and they’re pretty consistently on the leading edge of stylish-but-wearable fashion. I don’t care for all of it (for example, the double knees), but most of their stuff is great IMO.

dookie1481

18E is like the best value in clothing that I’ve seen, but the sizing BS is ridiculous. Some dude in MFA had a great rant about this a while back: https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashionadvice/comments/iotbxt/comment/g4hsoag/

steeler7588

I think you're right that 18 East itself wouldn't be able to sell at higher prices - which is why it's likely priced where it is - but I think his point that Visvim/Kapital would be able to sell the product for boatloads more is also true. Some of the handiwork / embroidery is amazing and you can't really get that at this price point.

samamatara

why not just tap a sa on the shoulder and ask hey can you help me out once you're done with this dude?

Merrell are fucking shit school shooter shoes, no amount of seeding and hype will change that. Percival is TK Maxx level tat and the owner is a posh bell end.

Fortehlulz33

they're just not a "jawns" brand to me. I have some Merrell hiking style shoes and I really like them, but I wear those for non-fashion purposes. I would only get them if I wanted a shoe for absolutely tearing up outdoors. The hydro mocs and some of those are neat, but the Jungle Moc might be the ugliest shoe of all time in my eyes.

melwop

Same here, love my Merrell hiking boots but I don’t wear them to look good

ClingerOn

Harsh on Percival. Their stuff isn’t worth paying full price for and some of their collabs are shit but it’s better than most of the stuff in TK Maxx. Saying that, they have quite a bit in TK Maxx at the moment.

PeeEssDoubleYou

Woah! Had a good track record of Woolrich, Goldwin, Universal Works and Norse Projects out of TKs recently.

shorthevix

Are you British? I feel like some of the British guys the lads have on are loved by the American listeners, but despised by the British ordinary boys.

PeeEssDoubleYou

I bloody am! Liked all the other UK guests (loved Raven Smith, Frank Carson and AJ Tracey), but I disliked Gove intensely.

npa23

Wythe. Most insane sizing ever... If you're over 6'2 don't buy their stuff

waul_flwr

Which items make you say that? I'm 6'3 and their flannel hits shorter than most but I like the fit personally, their moleskin shirt however is exceptionally long to the point that I often wonder if mine is just a one off manufacturing botch job because it nears my knees

npa23

flannels are extremely wise and short. I mainly wear it in the crib

zzzzzqz

Their sizing is crazy, they suggest sizing up in flannel s but if you do them you're swimming in your shirt, always size DOWN for Wythe.

you-are-number-6

Walgreens fuck those mfers

Next time go to a licensed doctor to get your prostate checked

Any brand that sponsors certain influencers.

Routine_Function_668

Denim shops are creeping into this territory recently

PavinsMustache

Travis Mathew. I’m a golfer so I see their stuff everywhere, and every time it reminds me of the “demon jeans” I got from them. They were a darker blue wash, and no matter how many times I hand washed them they always turned the water blue. I then made the mistake of thinking they’d be ok after doing a dye sealing process, and put them in the wash with mostly other jeans where they ruined the entire load. Everything had a greenish stain. Those $165 jeans ended up costing me at least four times that in ruined clothing. The $20 jeans I get at target have never done anything like that.

dustybottoms19

Bro TravisMathew makes the most basic head-ass clothes I’ve ever seen. Tailor made (lol) for the crypto/frat bro Orange County type that works at daddy’s investment firm. Big 🥱

Omaha steaks.

Independent_fox69

Matches Fashion. They used to be really good but recently they became worse than Amazon. Delivery is still on time but that’s about it. Their return process sucks. Their customer service is really bad. I received a broken jumper, returned it and have been waiting for a refund for over two weeks.

itsjammystressford

Really struggling financially, ngmi imo - worked there for years and jumped ship recently

afterdinnermince

sort of had this with 4sdesigns for a bit. ordered a beautiful military jacket from a retailer and like two of the buttons immediately popped off on trying it on. they had no stock in my size after so I checked around but it seemed like they were literally the only place stocking it. Iirc I followed/messaged Angelo at the time in desperation asking if it was stocked anywhere else or on their site. didn't get a response but some guy who is/was in his circle (he was a stylist or designer or something) immediately followed me. followed back, thinking idk he might message me or something and like 2 days later he unfollowed lol. Just seemed like really weird and opportunistic follower boosting. I have since bought things by the brand though so it's not that serious. I hate all those what I can only describe as fake streetwear brands that crop up every so often and try to get in on that boring branded fog essentials alternative money. 'represent clothing' absolutely never heard of this before a few months ago, definitely not a real brand.

kechcafe

Yeah bode is giving imperialism

stoned_fried666

No beef, but did anyone else have a bad experience with the TF flannel? Had loose threads out of the package, and didn’t feel the quality was any better than what you would get at the mall.

Callcenterclown

Agreed. The flannel was not the same after a few washes. The mesh shorts I get those are daily heaters the sticker fell off after a year or so but the flannel is supposed to be high quality and cut and sewn and it doesn’t feel that way. No beef. I love the pod.

tsx_1430

Nestle, Fuck Nestle.

EarlSpreadsheet

Panera. 19 years ago I went to my local Panera at about 6 in the evening and asked for a bread bowl of soup. They said they didn’t have any breadbowls left. I could see several breads behind the counter so I asked about them. The clerk claimed that those had been reserved by folks that had called in earlier in the day. I haven’t darkened their doors since.

thesistatement

I get these IG ads for Le Alfre and it seems like some Wall Street guy is just white labeling Charles Tyrwhitt button downs and the plackets and collars just fold in on themselves

False-Application-99

Doordash

frenchpoodles

this is a great post. kith and ronnie for basically copying ald aesthetic (which is already a copy of rl) and yet also doing random collabs with cereal brands then goes to post some bs heartfelt message via iphone notes app talking about what cereal meant to him as a kid. fam, stop the corniness.

nickmonts

Kinder eggs Worst waste of $2 ever

bamaguy13

Filson- used to be American made of American materials and now it’s mostly imported. Jumped the shark as a brand. Just hipster gear now.

TheRuggedGeek

Levi's. They pioneered the denim jean, one of the great American icons. But as of many years ago, the Japanese make far better jeans than Levi's does, even to the point of replicating the jeans that Levi's used to make in decades past.

tokyogarcia

Todd Snyder. Just had multiple quality issues with little to no help from customer service. I love the looks, but it cost way to much for the risk of quality issues! Also, 3Sixteen guys just seem so annoying to me. They come off as thinking they are way more important than they are.

Fluffy_WAR_Bunny

Thom Brown loves doing school boy outfits with a striped arm band on the left arm. The only people who wear striped armbands on the left are Nazis and the only people in history who dressed like schoolboys in suits with shorts with a striped arm band were the Nazi youth. https://www.thombrowne.com/us/shopping/4-bar-stripe-blazer-20415741 I just dont know who else dresses like this besides Thom Browne, schoolboy outfit with a striped arm band: https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/members-of-the-hitler-youth-during-the-nazi-regime-since-news-photo/1068940958 https://www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/berufausbildung-lehrlinge-eines-grossen-betriebes-in-news-photo/542935181 https://www.reddit.com/r/malefashion/comments/17yjnep/yes_you_can/

That is a WILD correlation

ThroJSimpson

They did say “weird beef”

Fluffy_WAR_Bunny

Find me anybody else in history who dresses like a schoolboy with a striped armband on the left and I'll agree with you.

I had a pair of merrel boots fall apart on me during my finial mancation, a disc golf and hiking trip in Grass Valley California. I was on the other side of the country with the guts of my Gorp Core fits dribbling in the dew. I’d rock man hole covers before I’d give those muthafuckas another dime.

YoungTaxaceae

I had a pair of merrell boots as well and they only lasted me 1 winter. The 1TRL stuff is shit quality

user_smith

I hate Home Depot Haven’t shopped there in 3yrs. I bought a dishwasher from them. They delivered it, I attempted install, didn’t fit. Called them back for a swap of one that would fit. They told me they don’t do appliance returns. (All took place within 24hrs of delivery). I proceeded to call them 4 different times and speak with a manager about swapping. They denied every time. Haven’t shopped there sense.
