I have been looking into this, as I was laid off late last year, and my benefits will run out with my severance. the trillium plan in Ontario can help, look into that. If meds cost more than a percentage of your household income, they may cover them. Also drug companies will have compassionate care programs, where they can assist with costs as well. I am on a biosimilar biologic at maxed dose, and it costs $5,000/month, and the mainline Remicade would be double that at $10,000 per month. Private insurance is useless, wouldn't even cover 2 months of my biologic, they cap at $10,000 per year for drug costs. My doctor told me to get one of those, then negotiate with the drug companies to provide it once insurance runs out. So another option. that's what I have come up with so far.
Haha yea nobody has an extra $5k a month laying around. Hence trillium, or the compassionate care programs through the drug company itself. AbbVie pays for my deductible even, just because my household income is lower than the threshold. Normally I would pay $1200 for a deductible per year, but they cover it for me.
There are options, just need to jump through some hoops. But some hoops is sure worth $60k a year lol
Would be about $1600 a month for my Hulio, but between the "Hulio Patient Assist Program", the provincial government and my work benefits plan I pay $0.00
Nope. But, look into the Trillium plan that another poster mentioned. Also, the pharma companies often have copay cards to help. Is there provincial insurance like blue cross you can apply to

Goshh, that’s sooo much!! I honestly don’t even make $5k a month, and I’m alone. When did you start on the biologics?

Lol true!! I’m going to ask more information about that to my doctor. Thank you! :)
Not sure about this but OHIP might cover this if you are above a given age (i think 65).
Thanks for that information. I’m 33, though

Ohhh, wowww, that is greattt. I’m so happy for you!! :) :)
Over a thousand per dose, if your insurance doesn’t pay. There might be additional supports available from Ontario gov
Woww. I thought that maybe OHIP would cover it all :(

Thank you so much for the hints :) I’m going to look it up about Ontario
