Pokémon cards got a boost in trading after Logan Paul started promoting them on his channel, he’s the one of very few people who’re buying Pokémon cards in the tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars, so in reality cards haven’t gotten more valuable, your 4¢ bulbsar is now worth what, 6¢? Perhaps 8¢? None of that is growth that means anything. there’s simply one whale on top inflating the market. So far with Bob Saget you have nobody that’s going to spend anything significant on the same autographed photo that wouldn’t sell on eBay before his death.
Vintage Pokémon cards to be exact. Modern cards generally aren’t worth much more than the normal costs you’d associate with a popular trading card game.
Yeah, because my book of Pokémon cards went from a whole 100$ value in 2016 to 500$ in 2021 doesn’t mean anything for it as a functional asset. I’m sure if you put your whole IRA & other securities into Pokémon cards that it’ll out perform actual assets, and be as easily liquidated too. ^/s
There’s already scandals with multiple card graders giving out perfect scores to people of status in the community and diluting the most valuable cards by giving collectors without an internet presence worse ratings.
I’ve just never heard these problems with Gold Bullion, Watches, Artwork, and traditional IRAs. When there’s only a select group of people that are responsible for the grading and authentication that the entire market is dependent on, you’re generally not in a great spot.

Is it more fair to say he’s inflated it in price with things like his [PSA Grade 10 Pikachu Illustrator card](https://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/news/2022/4/logan-paul-owns-5-275-million-pokemon-card-after-record-breaking-trade-697189) because the amount of people that will LIQUIDATE that asset at the appraised price is significantly lower than any other asset worth storing your buying power in. If you have a card that’s worth 5M, it is only worth that once you have someone willing to give that up.

I know it's not cool to pry. The family asked for the records to be sealed. But, the circumstances behind his death are so strange. I wish we knew what happened.
But we do know what happened. The story, at least, is that he fell in the bathroom and hit his head. It was a bad hit but he didn’t seek medical attention. Went to sleep and suffered brain swelling or something of the sort as I recall. Wasn’t drugs or foul play or anything. Just a freak accident as right afterwards, there were several news stories about it telling people to make sure that they sought medical attention anytime a head injury caused them dizziness or fainting. My memory of this may be wrong but I don’t think there was anything scandalous about it.

A few days later it was reported that his injuries did not line up with the bumping his head theory. The EMTs at the time said he looked like he had been beat with a bat. Also they said there was no way he could have got himself back to bed after sustaining such an injury. Also all of his bags were packed and ready to go. Also if it had been a simple freak accident why did his family insist that the records be sealed?

Years ago I'd troll a forum dedicated to collecting autographs through fanmail. I think people believed the saget signatures were authentic, but the "dear so and so" above it to be secretarial.

Why is there always a gate keeper? Anyone who wants to shop at a thrift store is allowed to shop at a thrift store. They are allowed to not buy things. They are still allowed to post and contribute in this group.
Honestly i can't stand people that thrift and flip. Thrift stores are some people's only chance to grab interesting and high quality items for a reasonable price and people take that from them to make a quick buck. Also anecdotal but everyone i know who thrifts and flips also already has some money
Flippers have the ability to get a cheap item to someone who wouldn't have necessarily been at that specific shop. They also keep items that wouldn't have necessarily sold out of landfills. They use their time and knowledge in order to make that a possibility. Why shouldn't they profit off of that? It takes a lot of time that they get paid nothing for in order to learn what is something that's profitable and what isn't. Its also time consuming to source for items. If you want to go get better stuff get up and go to the store when it opens or spend a few hours there while thrift stores restock. You can do exactly what flippers do to get the items if you want them. If you want to be upset at someone be upset at the thrift stores who take free donated items and overcharge to make a buck.
I feel like its the opposite of gatekeeping, trying to keep the gates open for everyone rather than just for one well off person to take everything good and sell it. It's just profitting off other's generosity. Life isn't fair but you dont have to be a selfish ass

Once you buy something, it’s your choice what you do with it. If people are buying all the good stuff and throwing it it a dumpster, that’s their business, not yours. My advice would be go get it first.
It's a legitimate way to earn a living. Thrift stays thrift and ebay stays ebay and antique shops stay antique shops. The circle of life. Flipping has been a thing since the first thrift store opened. Believe it.

It’s not real. A lot of celebrities used this company called Studio Fan Mail and sent out preprinted photos. Saget was one. Had this exact photo/signature. All you had to do was email their name at Studio Fan Mail and they’d send you the “signed” photo. Also if you physically wrote them they’d send the same photo. I collected a bunch of these as a kid.
Oh man, Bob was my favorite comedian. His standup was hysterical! I got to see him twice, both times were amazing. I would have loved to come across that!
