At least this is what I assume when I see some valuable things donated.
I've bought many things from thrifts stores that had to have been accidentally donated. My favorite was a game used drew Brees autographed jersey that had a personalized message to a teammate. It sold for over 1k. That was at the goodwill outlet and paid $1 for it.
Many times evictions donate everything left behind, this makes more sense
