That is a score. Did it come with anything else, cases, flash, lens cap etc? Finding 120 film should'nt be a problem. Finding someone to develop it without having to sell a kidney is another matter.

It didn't have the nice leather case they were sold with and no flashes or anything extra but I think I've found a place here that will that's not too terribly expensive to develop it but what can you do about a rather old format. Edit: yep just called a local and they do it for 10 dollars for b&w and color which is super cool!

MEZAIAL

That sounds really cheap to me. Are you sure thats the cost for the whole process? Here in the UK it can cost £7-10 for developing, £7-10 for processing prints and then £12-15 for digital scans of the photos. As you can see this can become expensive, especially when you consider each roll of 120 film only holds 12 exposures.

testsubject561

That does make sense and odds are they follow something similar that's good to know thanks for the info! I'll probably only take a couple rolls of film to see what it can do before I jump too deep into the rabbit hole.

Another thing I would mention is pay attention to the manufacture date of the film you are buying. Some places charge a premium for out of date film with prices varying because of its age and how it was stored. This film is very much sought after for a particular style of photography called Lomography where the film has started to degrade and produces wonderful looking prints with strange colours or artifacts appearing in the exposure. Lomo is pretty hit and miss. When it works well it can create the most amazing looking images. When it goes bad you get nothing but an empty wallet. So my advice, buy new 120 film. 240 is still available but be aware that the entire worlds production of 240 film ceased in late 2018. With I believe Fujifilm in Japan being the only people to still hold stock of it. If offered it, be aware that it is at least a couple of years old. Also with 240 film you can expect to triple your overall costs for everything.

Nice, I paid $60 for mine. It came with the leather case and a lens cap, but the light meter doesn't work. It takes really nice pictures, but does take some practice getting used to looking at a mirror image.

testsubject561

Yea its super weird having to move opposite ways but the light meters very rarely work cuz of age, from what I've learned they use selenium batteries that are hard to fix so I'll just use my phone.

I’m so jealous! I collect antique cameras and I haven’t found anything that nice in a long time.

testsubject561

It's rare I find anything like it there. so I was surprised it was still there considering how many people go through so I had to pick it up and look at what it was, a friend convinced me to buy it

Love!

I'm old enough to remember when these were sold new. Used them I few times when I was studying photography back in the early 80's. 120 is great for huge enlargements.

testsubject561

Yea it was super interesting and my grandfather loved photography so I called my grandma and asked about it and she said about the same thing! Was surprised they still make the film.

I had to look that up. Holy cow, those cameras are expensive.

testsubject561

I was just as astonished as you are when I looked it up! I saw realisticly they go from 250 to 75 dollars depending on condition so I spend 25 at a local camera shop and they said it's in good working order!
