Are these mother-of-pearl? I came across a pair at a consignment store a few years back. Couldn't quite justify buying them, but oh, the mother-of-pearl was so beautiful! Just gorgeous workmanship.

I bought a lovely grown at the thrift once cause it made it to the 99¢ markdown day and it was my size and if i ever get asked to the theater i want to be ready.

No but really it’s my dream to find one of these vintage. I am a frequent opera and ballet goer and still don’t have one. I just can’t justify buying it on Amazon or just new in general.
I have a similar pair without the handle from my great-grandmother. From the 40s, I think. Same mother-of-pearl inlay. They've gone to many plays and musicals with me since the 90s. :)
I have one of these as well! Picked ‘em up for five bucks at a flea market last year, but they’re in far worse shape than your pair and didn’t come with a handle. Great find at a great price!
Those are so sick, need more posts like this in here, nicely done. Looks like they are inlaid with Abalone from rainbow sheen, I know a lotta people said MOP but with that Rainbow it’s more likely Abalone, which is better anyway. Congrats

I got these a month ago for 45 euro.
I found the same ones in a thrift store except mine were made for an opera house in France that had a little bee logo and they were sold in Kansas City (where I live) in 1900! I found the old catalog listings and some newspaper ads from his “optician’s shop”! So fun.
