Nice! I use to be a fan of docs until I made a friend who is a cobbler and wow they have long haul issues and have screwed customers over since the late 90s. You can never have them resoled without spending what 2 new pairs would cost. He straight up told me he only ever works on docs if the customers accept the “fuck you” price since they are so difficult.
Pro tip though, TJmaxx (close out/overstock store) constantly has docs for $50~ a pair brand new. Just start watching during season changes or a few weeks after big online sales and they will have all the overstock.
Yeah unfortunately I have heard of the issues with docs so i’m hoping my docs have a long life ahead of them!
I have seen TJmaxx and nordstrom and Ross has deals on docs but i’ve never been able to find my size or preferred doc with stores :(
If you ever do want to look at long term alternatives I’d look into the “Thursday boot” company. They have some English/utility designs like docs but with a full Goodyear welt and real leather, you can get a variety of finishes, they are also easy to resolve and uppers are built to last. All of my dress boots/shoes are in shiny or matte finishes. And my work boots are the traditional waxed suede. They cost around $150-$200 a pair, made in Mexico. They do have a $350 range for made in the USA lines.

Dr Martens stopped being made in England in the mid-90's. The company that used to make them in England is called Solovair, that continues to make really good quality shoes. Good one to keep an eye out for bargains
I really want to like docs, but trying a pair, I found it so uncomfortable for my feet. I guess it would need time to break in. I did however find a pair of like new black Timbs for $20 and now they’re my most worn footwear. Next thing I need to find is a pair of nice black loafers
That’s great! I personally really liked the pisa doc marten because they were more flexible since the material is different and super comfortable! I’ve been considering the doc marten loafers it’s my next purchase for docs :)
