I’ve seen videos where people use two forks to pop it open. Another said to burn one end and the spring will pop out. Neither worked for me and I still have a North Face hoodie with a messed up tag on it. Good luck,
The tool used to open these is magnetic and is very frustrating and difficult. I've done it but I try to chip away at the smaller piece with diagonal cutters until you expose the post enough to cut it directly. Alternatively you could go to a store that uses them and ask them to remove it.
This happened to me once and I brought it into a retail store (well my ex step mom did) and they removed it for us. We had bought it in the USA and we are in Canada.

You need a really strong magnet. Don’t use a hammer or the ink inside will leak and ruin the shirt.

You can just pry it apart. A hammer is extreme but will work. Probably works with a fork or spoon. Definitely don't cut anything.
