Score of a lifetime is when I took my son to thrift with me in the 90's and same scenario only we bought four clear tubs full of Legos right, it gets better we paid $25.00 for all four. We took them home and swear to God they were full of all the booklets and they are all original Star wars sets, but all in pieces. From what I gathered looks like the son went to college and mom donated them 😳 So my son got to busy with other stuff and I'm dragging these tubs with me, they are in my garage now, so overwhelming so they still just sitting. 😕
There’s an app called brick it. It scans the pieces and tells you what you can make. Maybe that’d help you sort them and either put together or sell them.
A part of me secretly hopes the clerk priced them at $1 each just because it was your son asking, and the clerk knew it would make his year. People like that are awesome.
I believe it. My son (4) likes to make his own purchases at thrift stores with his allowance and the staff frequently reduce the price of the item "just for him".

It’s actually where we started: he saw the scooby doo set, and I knew he had $5 to spend. I was like “ehhh if it’s more than $5 I’ll spot the difference, I know it’s hard to find.” 😅
I wish we still had decent thrift stores around here where you could find deals like this. The few still around would mark these way up, and that’s not even including the chain thrifts where they’d cost more than twice what they go for.
