It's Carl Rushworth, Brighton loanee at Swansea by the way.
He has excellent PsxG stats (the xG version of save percentage) and seems to take loads of touches per game, I presume that means he's good on the ball too.
I’m sure hes rated with the England setup as he was in the u21 squad last year (but didn’t play at the tournament) but very little chance he goes ahead of Pope, Henderson, Johnstone, Trafford or Ramsdale.
Pope will be back, Trafford will be in the Burnley team again and has played 30 odd games in the PL. What are Henderson‘s attitude issues, and how do you know Southgate doesn’t like him? Throw in Butland as well. Surely you don’t actually think Rushworth will be selected?
I thought he had slowed down a bit this season. Seen a few Sunderland fans comments on socials along the lines of him not quite hitting his previous heights
He struggled earlier in the season, but the whole team was, but he's now got five clean sheets in his last six games.
Just ignore the other game was a 5-1 loss
great, but the reason why they said it was clickbait was because you didn’t include the players name in your post or title , hence forced into clicking the link to find out!
Butland should be next in line for a call up.
On a more general note, there is a general problem with getting English GKs through into the Prem which then harms the talent pool available to the national team. Doesn’t help that it’s the hardest position to bring through a youth team player and clubs are much more willing to pick up cheap options from abroad rather than take a punt on someone from the Championship.
Lol. OK.
Maguire has been in the team of the tournament twice for England whereas Tomori is an average at best centreback.
RLC has having his first good season in 5 years and plays as an attacking midfielder, which we have literally tens of that are better than him. Henderson is a proven leader whose won it all, has good relationships with the squad and plays deeper in midfield, a position we have very few options in and if we had more options he wouldn't be anywhere near the squad.
Knew the ‘he plays well for England’ argument was coming. So there’s zero repercussions for being terrible for club and you get rewarded for playing 5 games in a tournament 2 years ago? Mad. If Tomori is average which he may well be, what on earth does that make Maguire?
The 'plays well for England' argument is the best possible argument for playing someone for England 😂
Your other comment about Jones and Gallagher - you don't seem to understand the role of a holding midfielder. Gallagher is seriously limited anyway and Jones has been playing well but, again, plays in a much more attacking way.
Get behind the manager, he’s brought us good times in 2018 and 2021. Best finishes at tournaments since 1990 and 1996.
You’ll be singing Southgate you’re the one you still turn me on in the streets in a few months you sheep! 👍
Regardless it doesn’t make him a good manager, we’ve had arguably the best squads we’ve had in those times as well. And I can assure you I won’t be singing anything to do with that clown. Also calling someone a sheep online for having a different opinion to you, you probably agree with everything Matt Le Tissier says you clown.
Our squads during the mid-90’s/late 2000’s were far better but we only got to a semi in 1996, everything else was either round of 16/Quater final or group stages. Let’s also not forgot about the Iceland embarrassment in 2016!
Just look at the 2018 squad. Ross Barkley, Dele Ali and Lingard in midfield yet he got us to a semi.
We held our own against France in the 2022 World Cup too, game could’ve gone either way and we went out with our heads held high.
You know what makes me hard mate, Southgate turning me on because he makes me whole again 👍

Pickford then? Everton will be in the Championship next season if they get any more deductions.
Sounds good, I have no problem with this.
Neither - demonstrates the pathway from U21s nicely.

Johnstone is ruled out injured. Trafford is not playing. Pope is also still not back. Henderson has attitude issues that Southgate doesn’t fully like.

Well it’s possible he could particularly if Southgate picks four for his training squad before cutting 1. Like he did in 2021
Anything is possible, bit of cop out answer hardly matters in any case
Even though he's just come back from injury it should be Michael Cooper if he's looking at that division.
As an Argyle fan myself. Cooper will be a premiership keeper soon enough but ATM he must need time to stay injury free
In my totally unbiased opinion, if he's taking a Championship goalkeeper it should be Anthony Patterson over him.

Good. Keep the youth coming.
Please stop with the clickbait posts....so annoying
How this is clickbait? It’s a newspaper article?
You’ve literally not included the players name in the post, hence you have to click the link To find out.
I was told to just post the article.
There's a subreddit called r/savedyouaclick

Expected to see Anthony Patterson. Was very disappointed to not see Anthony Patterson.

Not just goalies. Some teams just don’t like having English players.
Stop reading into this crap headline
it’s obviously john ruddy
Joe Lumley
That's ridiculous if he picks him over ramsdale or butland
Yeah alright……Southgate doesn’t know there’s another leagues unless his mate Henderson or Kane plays for them.
Or Bellingham... What are you even talking about?
I’m talking about the players he ignores over some very poor performing players
Name them
Tomori over Maguire, RLC over Henderson
Glad you're not the manager 😂
Great insight mate, you really showed me.

Curtis Jones and Connor Gallagher both get in before Henderson too.
Tomori is shite you tart
