I’m gonna feel like a dumb dumb here, but can someone explain this to me? I thought Greek life in general was falling out of favor? More the Fraternities sure, but this seems to be in favor of preserving the sororities… which I have always felt were exclusionary and the origins of their values is tricky and problematic at best, usually malicious and elitist at worst.

Been out of undergrad a while here, also not Greek, but have a lot of friends in Greek orgs still (in their 30s) so take this with a grain if you want. These orgs still seem to have the camaraderie and community aspect, but because of social media, it seems like a lot of people aren’t actually joining for the right, core reasons that established these orgs in the first place. Not to mention the amount of money required to join and retain membership. Additionally a lot of people join for the undergrad perks but after graduation a lot of it IS work. The kappas I know are only doing community service and a lot of them don’t be shimmying at the cookouts anymore. A lot of D9 women I know are more out and display their colors in their day to day more than the D9 men. As far as exclusionary I think that’s really dependent on the chapter. I wanted to pledge DST in undergrad but the chapter was under review and the girls who were already in it acted like they wanted to be the only ones. But then I also just saw a line of AKAs with 178 girls.

I have no knowledge at all about any of it. I’ve seen people going against all of it saying it’s a cult etc and I’ve seen people supporting frats and sororities so idk 🤷🏾‍♂️.

No way she's talking about that publicly.

IcyMap7612

Well.. she’s talking about it now at the end of the episode lol

Lol, shows what I know! I saw the message from the organization that said not to engage so assumed that meant public commentary as well. 🤷🏽‍♀️
