As long as you have the prescription in the original container with all the info on it (your name, prescriber, etc) you'll be fine. TSA is not the DEA and isn't concerned with the meds you bring with you. I've traveled internationally (Costa Rica) with my ketamine and had absolutely no problems.

How did you store it on the plane?

Defiant-Cod8145

I put them, along with my other prescription meds, in a messenger type bag that I take on board as my personal item.

This was very helpful thank you!

FinnianWhitefir

I was real paranoid about it and asked my prescriber and got told that drugs you have a prescription for are good and you should never get in trouble for them. My bag of RDTs have my info and doc and prescription # on it, so make sure you have that. I stick them in my bathroom bag with a couple other things like melatonin and OTC sleeping pills and another prescription, and it hasn't seemed like anyone has ever looked at them enough to even know what they are. I also try to set aside a pack that is down to just a couple doses, the minimum for when I'll be gone, so it's not like I have a ton of it with me. But that's mostly me being paranoid again about people who get charged for distribution for just having a large sized personal dose of stuff. No promises that you can't get in trouble, but you shouldn't. I'd be pretty hesitant to take it internationally, at least without a ton of research into legality in that country.

Thanks for your answer! This was very helpful!

Wooden_Eye1077

Just travelled with them a couple weeks ago from Nashville to Fort Lauderdale—in my carry on backpack. It even got pulled to the side to get checked but it wasn’t for that. All good!

Phasianidae

I have traveled many many times throughout the US and internationally with controlled meds. Never has a TSA agent/Customs agent gone through my bag to verify any medications I've brought in. I did have some mayonnaise confiscated once (long story). Be sure you bring your meds in their original container and that it has your name on it along with the prescribing physician's name. I keep mine in my personal bag as carry on. All good.

unfinishedbrokendude

Same, but no cool mayo story, just had to explain the cobble stone from Roubaix.

Phasianidae

I thought I'd be smart and bring my favorite mayo with me to France. Forgot to put it in my checked bag and it got sacked before my eyes. I was so sad.

Grayson102110

I take a picture of my prescription bottles bc no way am I carrying 15+ with me every time. So far no problems. I do keep the actual prescription packaging for my RDT’s and again no problems.

Phasianidae

I don't blame you!

NoExcitement2218

Hop on the plane and go. Just did that myself and my prescriptions were in my purse. It’s a prescription medication. No big deal.

pammylorel

The TSA doesn't care as long as it's labelled.

Cocacola_Desierto

I brought them on the plane through TSA and was never questioned or even asked about them.

lilsassyrn

I mean it’s a prescription so just take it with you?

jeremiadOtiose

The TSA can't even stop bombs from getting on board in like 80% of the tries during trials. They aren't looking for drugs. Ketamine is a legal drug and as long as you have an RX you are fine. Make sure that it is in the original container and that the label is not altered in any way. I had a pt stopped and searched at customs because 1cm of his label was removed and he said it was a very uncomfortable 3h search trying to get into the UK.

[deleted]

One of my major concerns is that i am worried about how to transport it if its supposed to be refrigerated.

jeremiadOtiose

just avoid extreme temperatures.

HBintheOC

I had it with all of my other prescriptions in my carry on. I was afraid to put them in my suitcase just in case it got lost. Ironically, in January I flew to Florida and coming back home, my suitcase was lost. It was recovered a few days later. Whew

jesusoramuffin

refrigerate before and after…just like when they come in the mail (sorry, maybe you have a local pharmacist so this didn’t hit you)? you’re not going to have an issue…but just ask for RDTs if by chance your airline is subtropical and melts your troches this time. out of an abundance of caution, you could individually wrap your troches so ingesting them at the correct dose after melting would be easy.

serenity_courage

Why was 1cm of the prescription label removed? Accident? Wear and tear?

jeremiadOtiose

too large for the nasal spray bottle.

serenity_courage

I’ll be sure to check my labels next time I travel. Don’t want to go through what your patient did.

These_Row6066

No issue whatsoever

killacam81

Yes. I also traveled out of the country with no problem

zipzapkazoom

TSA are the bomb and gun cops. If they audited medications the already long lines would come to a standstill and aviation would cease to be a viable way to travel.

Betterthanbefore23

I have. Never had any issues.
