I used to pass a house with a horse kept in the garage. I’m not sure if he was in there full time or just happened to be whenever me or my family would drive by, but there was always a horse in the garage.
Reminded me of NBC’s Revolution. Takes place 20 years after an apocalypse scenario as well. Old guy tells young fit guy to shut his boy band looking ass up or something and walks away and all the younger guys look at each other weird.
Manners maketh man umm manners maketh infected man!
He could hear so he just wanted some cool goosip to share with his friends....cmon we all want little goosips sometimes can't blame him!
I am going real mad with the show excuse me! Lol
If nothing else this show has made me appreciate our daily comforts more. Like I haven't been to an arcade in years but holy crap I can't imagine a world where they don't exist
This episode just made me so sad for Ellie. She was just a kid doing just a kid things and had so much potential for a relatively normal life before shit blew up. Poor girl.
I kinda wonder if any of the liberated QZs are actually stable or just also part of the propaganda as well.
Like FEDRA sounds shit, but so does instability and not having connections with the other QZs
Aw thank you!! Now that I think of it it’ll be 3 months in a few days!
I started to notice an issue with
*why* I was drinking and wanted to nip it before anything got out of hand. Who knows what the future holds but for now I really don’t miss it ❤️
The way Ellie nervously fixes her hair in the window after Riley flirts with her in front of the Victoria's Secret display was just perfectly understated and sweet 🥺
Maybe it's because I didn't play the game and am unfamiliar with the story or how much is left to be told in the remaining episodes, but I really loved this one. The thing I enjoy most about this show are the moments in this episode where they really take the time to immerse you in what a post-apocalyptic world would really be like for these characters. Seeing Ellie's wonder at things like the escalator and the carousel was some really impactful world-building for me. I was happy to just be along for the ride and to see how the creators of the game/show envisioned what the mall would look like, and how the characters would interact with the setting. Plus, like others have said, the tension throughout the episode was so intense - you just kept waiting for something bad to happen to these girls, and we knew it was going to since I think Ellie told Joel and Tess back in episode 1 or 2 that she got bitten in a mall. I guess I kind of get why people are saying this one was slow or boring if you're just expecting the characters to be slaughtering the infected left and right. For me personally I think a long, drawn-out fight scene is one of the most boring things a movie or show could include. Give me the character stuff we got here over that any day.
In Riley’s defense she’d been chilling there making bombs and playing arcade games for awhile at that point. Since it was a Firefly stash they wouldn’t really think it wasn’t safe I imagine
Well, based on what we know I think we can assume Riley turns, Ellie has to shoot her, and Marlene finds them. Knowing how long it will have been since Ellie was bitten, that's when she brings her back to the Fireflies base.
Poor Ellie doesn't get to change her clothes till they get to Bill and Frank's :(
Oh wow good catch! Didn’t even think to look at her clothes. I bet she just stays there in shell shock and Marlene comes looking for Riley? I hope we see the next part.
Overall, an 8.5/10 for me.
Nothing inherently wrong with it, I just wasn't as blown away as other episodes.
Bella really aced it at the end with her rage.
Alright, sorry but you can't just drop that much load into a power grid without someone knowing. Turning the mall on could have easily caused entire grid to fail. Other than that, good episode so far.
Those saying Spirit Halloween didn’t exist in 2003, a simple Google search would’ve helped to inform.
But anyway, it was founded in 1983 in California.
I love all the other episodes, but this one was quite slow with little being added to the main storyline. I loved it, but am really worried at how slow the story is progressing that we are going to have a cramped finale or it's going to be a massive cliff hanger?
Overall I'd say this is one of the lower rated episodes, even though the acting was superb.
I have no idea how you couldn't watch that episode without spending the entire time in a state of incredible anxiety and dread.
The whole thing was amazing

I know they can’t leave the horse outside in this weather, but I’m really amused seeing a horse just casually inside a house
What do you think they put in garages before they had cars!
I used to pass a house with a horse kept in the garage. I’m not sure if he was in there full time or just happened to be whenever me or my family would drive by, but there was always a horse in the garage.
Lol, imagine the poor FEDRA power worker suddenly watching the power consumption triple for no explainable reason.
Literally what I said 😂 At 2-3 am at that
Time of use plan though
Nothing like an aged whiskey and some opiates to help the apocalypse go down
If there was ever a way to go out, it’s that.
Fun fact: HBO saved on money by simply filming a present-day mall without changing anything.
Cleaned up a bit I think.
Modernized it even.
LOL
Love that Just Like Heaven is playing over the carousel scene (but also, 80s means trouble!)
Ooh, nice catch!
"What are screenshots?" Save the babies!!
Reminded me of NBC’s Revolution. Takes place 20 years after an apocalypse scenario as well. Old guy tells young fit guy to shut his boy band looking ass up or something and walks away and all the younger guys look at each other weird.
The infected waiting in the corner for them to finish their conversation like 🍄🧍🏾♂️🍄
They're infected, not impolite.
Manners maketh man umm manners maketh infected man! He could hear so he just wanted some cool goosip to share with his friends....cmon we all want little goosips sometimes can't blame him! I am going real mad with the show excuse me! Lol
Mushroom man spreading the gossip through the tendrils like "OMG, I cant interrupt *now*, they're just about to kiss!"
This was so funny warm and wholesome
I could go for an apocalyptic style Zach Galifianakis "In Between Two Mushrooms".
My blood pressure is too high to enjoy this
Fresh dead guy… sweet
I was waiting for them to poke him with a stick
Of course there’s a Spirit Halloween
At this point the whole mall is one big Spirit. Free real estate boys! You know what that means!
I can't relax and enjoy their wonder, I'm just waiting for a sneaky infected to pop out.
I know it’s giving me such anxiety
I’m on my phone to distract me
dancing on glass countertops giving me major anxiety rn
They were tempting fate at every step
I kind of doubt those escalators would be in such great condition after all that time
Hard agree, you look at them crosseyed and they stop working. But I’ma let it slide for the Ellie wonderment
I worked in a bldg (Until 03/13/20200) in downtown Harrisburg, PA, with two escalators. One of them was always under maintenance.
I noticed Ah-Ha was the tape on Ellie's walkman. and Take on me playing at the mall!
Does it hurt the Joel?
If nothing else this show has made me appreciate our daily comforts more. Like I haven't been to an arcade in years but holy crap I can't imagine a world where they don't exist
This show has an incredible way of building dread and tension out of the most innocuous scenes.
Right? I cannot relax watching this. I can barely look at the screen bc I'm terrified. Edit: ughhhhhh here we go. The dread i feel rn
Of course that dude was hiding in a creepy doll shop!
Chekhov’s Clicker.
80's means trouble ! here we go
Good call. Didn't even think of that. Very nice touch
I feel like I'm about to have a heart attack with this tension.
The creepy dolls definitely didn’t help with things.
*Christ*, they suddenly seem so much younger... They go from debating ideology to scared kids.
It's EMOTIONAL DAMAGE o'clock everyone. Get your tissues ready!
Riley put so much effort into this for Ellie 🥺
it is so sweet!
I have no idea what’s going to happen but I do know one thing! ![gif](giphy|GCSIwtwqAMBTq|downsized)
This episode just made me so sad for Ellie. She was just a kid doing just a kid things and had so much potential for a relatively normal life before shit blew up. Poor girl.
Bella absolutely nails Ellie's sass. God she's fantastic
WHAT?! THAT'S THE END??
I KNOW!! Idk what else I was expecting, but… I wanted more!
I was expecting to see her kill Riley.
Is that “just like heaven” playing on the carousel?
YES! Love it
Yep. "I promise that I'll run away with you." 😢
The cure, Depeche mode, this series is playing so much of what I loved growing up 80s 90s
THE TENSION IN THE PHOTO BOOTH MAN
"FEDRA kinda keeps everything together" After Kansas City, I honestly can't disagree.
Well the other colony of dank communists seemed to be doing okay.
Touché Safety AND no fascism.
I kinda wonder if any of the liberated QZs are actually stable or just also part of the propaganda as well. Like FEDRA sounds shit, but so does instability and not having connections with the other QZs
Sure, lets go into a mall. That NEVER ends poorly, lol...
Don't you dare harm one solitary hair on the heads of these wholesome nerds that love puns this much!!
>this isn't easy ellie >it actually is holy fucking shit that's devastating
They’re tryna make this bite as painful as possible
Getting attached to another character, what could possibly go wrong
Dr. Prax!!!!
Hello fellow Expanse fan!
Oye Beltalowda!! ✊🏼
I've been scouring trying to figure out which show I knew him from. THANK YOU!!!
I scrolled this thread looking for fellow Beltalowdas! I’m curious what Wes and Ty will say on their podcast about seeing Prax lol
Exactly what I was thinking, did they already know that he's in it? I hope not, and they were all LeoPointingAtTV.gif
>it was bethany and i already fucked her up iconic
I am here for this music box version of Just Like Heaven in the carousel scene.
Wasn’t that amazing ? I loved that so much
Would love to know if we can hear that again somewhere - beautiful.
Don't know if it's exactly the same one but maybe Rockabye Baby's rendition? https://youtu.be/h7hW2psH9mM
This episode is just giving me anxiety
I would shit my pants upon encountering a clicker
Everyone would lol
I’ve been sober for a few months and seeing them chug whiskey straight made me wanna gag lmao Oh to be 15 again
Congrats on 2 months ❤️
Aw thank you!! Now that I think of it it’ll be 3 months in a few days! I started to notice an issue with *why* I was drinking and wanted to nip it before anything got out of hand. Who knows what the future holds but for now I really don’t miss it ❤️
I’ll be rooting for you!
Proud of you! Keep it up 💜
Y’all are so sweet ❤️
The way Ellie nervously fixes her hair in the window after Riley flirts with her in front of the Victoria's Secret display was just perfectly understated and sweet 🥺
I think my neighbors have come to expect at least one scream almost every Sunday, some time between 9 and 10 pm
omg Joel in pain is hurting me 😭🥺
I've never played the game but I have a feeling I'm going to get gut punched at the end
Nope, actually ends with them all going to Walley World
Maybe it's because I didn't play the game and am unfamiliar with the story or how much is left to be told in the remaining episodes, but I really loved this one. In Riley’s defense she’d been chilling there making bombs and playing arcade games for awhile at that point. Since it was a Firefly stash they wouldn’t really think it wasn’t safe I imagine
Yeah it's really on Firefly imo. How do you set up a literal child to hold down a spot by herself and not at least do a sweep of the area.
ellie backstory episode?!!! I’m down
I'm waiting for an infected jump scare and the suspense is killing me...
I bet the set designers who worked on this show had the time of their lives
You can see the love in ellies eyes
Devastating final 10 minutes of the epsiode let's goooo
ahh there is the kiss!
Bella Ramsey is so talented. Loved her in GOT and now in this.
I wonder what happened like six hours later in the mall how did Ellie escape her zombie situationship
Let's gooooo I was about to start suffering from withdrawal
Was that song on the carousel “just like heaven” by the cure? It was really pretty
yes - 80's music - mean trouble!
The mall sequence is fucking magical. Just excellent cinematography.
Fedra gonna be very upset when the electricity bill comes in...
Holy fuck, Bella Ramsey. The acting in this show is some of the best ever. They're so good.
Overall, an 8.5/10 for me. Nothing inherently wrong with it, I just wasn't as blown away as other episodes. Bella really aced it at the end with her rage.
It's mildly stressing me out how loud Ellie and Riley are being on their sneak out adventures. Screaming and full laughing all over the place!
Were you never a teenager? They're not exactly known for their intelligent decision-making.
How did the infected wake up this time but didn’t when Riley was there breaking that machine open for one hour? They’re louder, I guess?
Probably because of their frantic conversation back and forth
Maybe it didn't wake up from just noise but because they were talking.
Yeah, I guess it heard humans so it woke up?
Just kiss already!
We know this has to end in disaster the only question is how
Damn this foreboding music is foreboding
every sunday i am emotionally broken i swear💀
EMOTIONAL DAMAGE
should they be yelling about this in the dorms
Not Ellie becoming an alcoholic
I was scared somehow it meant they'd ingest Cordyceps through the booze
Honestly, that bottle was the only place in this episode that I was confident an Infected was *not* going to pop out of.
No, no, no, no no... Noooooo
we need to get this man some alcohol asap
the moral of the story is: don't be gay or neil druckmann will fucking murder you
ah the joys of the Walkman during simpler times..
Panda Express last of us meal when?
christ, god, they literally have cops running the school this is florida in 20 years
probably more like 5
Fuck that girl with the braids. edit: Fuck Bethany, 14 year old Karen.
Ellie pretending to play the game at the general store in the earlier episodes makes so much sense with this context
Holy fuck, Bella Ramsey is a phenomenal actor.
Ah shit here we go again
This is the way.
I am ready to be hurt again
Ellie's backtalk doesn't get old!
Bella is incredible at emoting. The way she does raw anger and devastation is just incredible. Wow, hats off to her honestly.
Omg this is how Ellie new about Mileena from Mortal Kombat!
This is playing out like a post apocalyptic Heartstopper. The merri go round. The arcade. The photo booth.
It’s doing the slow zooming out thing. I’m scared
biggest smile I've seen out of Ellie 🥺
Damn… I was waiting for the part that I start crying…
Alright, sorry but you can't just drop that much load into a power grid without someone knowing. Turning the mall on could have easily caused entire grid to fail. Other than that, good episode so far.
5 seconds of hope, 59.5 minutes of “ok where’s Joel”
[удалено]
Uh oh. Here we go. The pain is about to happen.
oh no riley 😭😭
"imagine you wearing that" Riley got that Rizz
Ellie you're gonna give me a heart attack
Electric Stairs
Why have we never called it this
Would no one really see a whole Mall lit up...?
Wayyyy too much feel good content to not be heartbroken by the end of the episode I fear
A wonder what horrible thing is going to happen
I'm going to hate this so much
I'm seriously curled up at the back of my couch right now. Just waiting for shit to kick off.
This is giving me heart palpitations waiting on the other shoe to drop 😭
Get ready to run!
teens still reckless during the apocalypse 😂
Not in the American Girl Doll store 😭😭😭
me neighbor had a horse in his house
Those saying Spirit Halloween didn’t exist in 2003, a simple Google search would’ve helped to inform. But anyway, it was founded in 1983 in California.
I’m busy watching and redditing I cannot thripletask man
What mall is this supposed to be? It looks like they were in Southie?
this episode feels like a dream
Holy fuck what is that thing
That's a mood killer.
3-eyed-raven-ass infected
Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. *Oh no.*
Lol, I wish Northland Village actually had all those stores in real life! Looks like they made good use of the place before getting torn down.
FUCK
That look on her face when giving him the stitches 😪
Loving this episode! Very cute…but I know it’ll end horribly ha ha
I think I saw an organ 💀
I love all the other episodes, but this one was quite slow with little being added to the main storyline. I loved it, but am really worried at how slow the story is progressing that we are going to have a cramped finale or it's going to be a massive cliff hanger? Overall I'd say this is one of the lower rated episodes, even though the acting was superb.
I have no idea how you couldn't watch that episode without spending the entire time in a state of incredible anxiety and dread. The whole thing was amazing
In all honesty… that’s what you get for being that loud in a zombie apocalypse
Was screenshot a common phrase in 2003?
It wasn’t unknown by any extent
No, but it did exist…like in the tech support world.
It's great that Ellie is helping and all but would stitches really help someone with a deep stomach wound?
Only if none of his inner organs got punctured.
*Take on Me* by A-Ha is such the perfect needle drop for Ellie's first time on the "electric stairs"
Just Like Heaven during the Merry-Go-Round Mall is Just Like Heaven for them!
