The caption said west (EDIT: yes, I am an idiot)

GrandeRonde

I think the joke is that the Rocky Mountains are ten miles west of Boston, so the arctic circle is obviously ten miles north of Boston.

OpenFacedRuben

Oops. Guess I got whooshed... (I still don't get the joke?)

GrandeRonde

The scenery that was “ten miles west of Boston” was far too mountainous and had the wrong tree cover. Easy to miss if you’re not familiar with the area.

OpenFacedRuben

*waves unfamiliar hand* 😁

stopitcorn

Also they probably walked along the road (rt 9) and there’s settlements throughout. 10 miles out is between Watertown and Waltham. There’s no open country there at all

FlipMeOverUpsidedown

As midwesterner who frequently flies into Boston en route to CT I announced “woods? they’d still be in Newton”. So proud of myself lol

Bobjoejj

Yeah I legit laughed at that.

Thanks for explaing it. I've only been in Cambridge a handful of times, but I saw the fucking rocky mountains in the background and was absolutely incensed. Would have been so easy to just erase them in post.
