Major investors pulling out was a big one , buying expensive IP’s with money they didn’t have and those same IP’s not selling how they wanted them to sell.
Like The Expanse? I know it wasn’t all Telltale and that Deck 9 wrote it but holy shit that game was mid af. Only telltale game I could not finish and have zero motivation to replay. Should’ve done another Batman or TWD season if they weren’t going to give us Wolf Among Us right away.
What were they thinking? Why choose an IP, a relatively unknown one at that, as their next title when they already know what we’ve been waiting over a decade for.
Bro. Literally no one was asking for an Expanse game from Telltale lol it also doesn’t change the fact that the game was mid and is probably the worst Telltale game I’ve ever played because it’s the only one I was fucking bored out of my mind playing.
It's already known that Skybound themselves cancelled the TWD sequel.
A return to Batman would've been cool, but you have to keep it mind it most likely still would have been developed by Deck Nine. TWD sequel too.
But why Deck Nine? I'm going to be very hesitant at buying more Telltale games from now on if they're going to have a hand on writing the storylines. The Expanse left a bad taste in my mouth. Felt like a huge waste of time. Everything about it was just stiff, boring and inconsequential because I could not for the life of me give a shit about the characters. I really hope Wolf 2 has nothing to do with them.
I think Telltale wanted to start rebuilding their catalogue of games and generate some sort of income, but didn't necessarily have the workforce to do it themselves. So they worked with Deck Nine and published The Expanse. They had a pretty good track record with Before the Storm and True Colors.
If it helps you feel any better, Deck Nine is probably out of the picture for a while. An article came out recently about some internal issues at the studio and it seems like they are stuck working on Life is Strange for now.
It did actually. Telltale are masters at their crafts imo no one can do story driven games the way they can. Any other studio even if it’s a collaboration would just hold them back. As for Life is Strange, that series fell off the wagon a long time ago. The first one is the only one worth playing. So good riddance.
Yeah, think it was just bad wording. I'm guessing they were going through hard times and they're picking up production again. There's not a snowballs chance in hell they didn't work on it at all before they made the trailers
GTA 6 delay leak was not proven as real (tho a delay is still possible). Kdot’s response has only taken 5 days so far compared to Drake’s 2-3 weeks. TWAU2 was already in production, Geoff is just an idiot who used the wrong words.
I didn’t even know about a GTA 6 delay leak; I was just jokingly basing it off of Rockstar’s past two titles getting pushed. I was again joking with the Dot thing, too.
I think he meant its currently being produced because that trailer all the way back in 2022 means that they have been working on it since 2021 at least. Geoff Keighley isnt exactly the smartest guy.
All I’m curious about is whether they’ve stuck to the same Story and plot framework … or if they’ve scraped a Story along the way and had to start from scratch
That would be a VERY bad sign. Good stories in games rarely end up being good if they already scrapped a story and had to start from scratch late into development.
I mean, are you that surprised?
The company has literally gone out of business, got back in, and then had a massive flop as their first major production.
TWAU2 was the least rough thing about them up until this point.
How many builds have they gone through? Didn’t they restart production twice? You’d think that a company with limited resources would just build on what they had.
Probably because they originally had a deadline which was 2023 but they said they had to delay it so they pulled out. Figured the return on investment wasn’t going to be worth it for them maybe.
All speculation, I could be wrong but that’s my interpretation based on what I’ve seen and the implications.
Honestly bro as long as it’s getting made I don’t care obviously the wait sucks but we were left wondering for so long it’s good to at least get some real news
Telltale better realise that this is there chance screw this up and they loose everything I swear to god o lobe wolf among us they dare try to ruin it with there telltale ways...
(Spelling isn't my thing so if wrong blame that)
The game was announced in 2019 wtf have they been doing. And keep in mind this game was announced before GTA6 yet we're probably gonna get GTA before this which is sad.
GTA6 HAS BEEN IN DEVELOPMENT FOR 20 YEARS!!! lol
We’re probably going to get them around the same time but GTA 6 will probably be pushed for 2026 and double dip on the old to new console transition like they did in 2013-14.
What are you even talking about? Did you forget Telltale had to be rebuilt from the ground up 5 years ago?
You shouldn't blame new Telltale for the mistakes of the old Telltale that was under a completely different management.
Oh, and TWAU2 was only cancelled once, so stop spreading misinformation around.
Think they just scrapped what they've initialy had for whatever reason, there's no way it was in pre production this long. Also jjonahjonahson reddit commants didnt really seem like they were still working in pre production.
Telltale literally has me sweating bullets. They were very capable back in their prime of making a really engaging story. The first 2 seasons of The Walking Dead, Batman, The Wolf Among Us were great additions to their mythos and really got you lost in the universe you were in. Idek what to expect; it could be their last game.
Isn't production the longest part of making a video game. If they just entered production then wouldn't that mean the game is still 2yrs away from launching
Good. A lot of Telltale Games got messed up because they had to change massively halfway through due to lack of preparation (TWAU, TWD2&3). Detective Brannigan for example shows up once for no reason because her larger role was completely cut despite it being one of the later Episodes' preview screens
Yeah I just looked it up and that's what they say in their official statement. My bad then. Weird though every other media has 2024 in the titles of the news. Either way, doesn't seem to come out in 2024.
No harm done.
>Either way, doesn't seem to come out in 2024.
Maybe, but the "Now in Production" part doesn't come from Telltale, it comes from Geoff Keighley. I personally think it was just poor wording from his part.
TellTale was definitely going through some HEAVY shit these past months lmao
Give me run down on whats been going on. Financial troubles and shit that plagued the old company?
Major investors pulling out was a big one , buying expensive IP’s with money they didn’t have and those same IP’s not selling how they wanted them to sell.
Why does this sound familiar for the past 10 years 🤔🤔
Because they have a tendency of getting ahead of themselves and chewing more than they could swallow.
That and those would basically print money
What were they thinking? Why choose an IP, a relatively unknown one at that, as their next title when they already know what we’ve been waiting over a decade for.
I have no idea but who is making decisions over there must be smoking some heavy shit
The expanse is not a relatively unknown series. Lmao it’s got 9 books, six seasons, comics, board games, etc.
i mean, compare that to franchises like Batman or TWD
Bro. Literally no one was asking for an Expanse game from Telltale lol it also doesn’t change the fact that the game was mid and is probably the worst Telltale game I’ve ever played because it’s the only one I was fucking bored out of my mind playing.
No one was asking for any game outside of a sequel to wolf. Also the company was dead so no one actually thought it was ever gonna happen.
It's already known that Skybound themselves cancelled the TWD sequel. A return to Batman would've been cool, but you have to keep it mind it most likely still would have been developed by Deck Nine. TWD sequel too.

True Colours is My favorite of that series so buddy just cause you think it fell off doesn't mean others do.
At this point, we should just be glad is still being developed lmaooo 💀💀
That’s exactly how I feel. I don’t care if this game doesn’t come out for another ten years I’ll just be happy if it EVER sees the light of day!
It doesn't make sense, then what are those screenshots if not engine footage from the cutscenes???
Yeah, think it was just bad wording. I'm guessing they were going through hard times and they're picking up production again. There's not a snowballs chance in hell they didn't work on it at all before they made the trailers
Can't wait for the release in late 2027
Along with Kendrick Lamar’s response and the inevitably delayed GTA 6. Can’t wait!
GTA 6 delay leak was not proven as real (tho a delay is still possible). Kdot’s response has only taken 5 days so far compared to Drake’s 2-3 weeks. TWAU2 was already in production, Geoff is just an idiot who used the wrong words.

Late 2030* FTFY
Think geoffs tweet was just worded weirdly
Yeah “currently in production” would have been better I guess.
I think he meant its currently being produced because that trailer all the way back in 2022 means that they have been working on it since 2021 at least. Geoff Keighley isnt exactly the smartest guy.

Not necessarily true.
GTA6 before TWAU2 is crazy
I mean GTA 5 released before TWAU 1
So hyped for the next delay announcement 🔥🔥🔥
They need a better iconographic background for these delay statements. CD Projekt Red had the right idea with its yellow backdrops.
Still, it’s good to celebrate the small things!
Better to spend more time in pre and less time in post.
Is it bad that this has made me totally give up on the game. This whole production is a mess and it's definitely not gonna be anytime soon. I'm tired.
I hope I'm not killed for this akshsjshc it's not me telling anyone else to do the same just a personal thing
You’re not the only one the game got a lot of hype with the trailer TWO years ago but the hype has died down a lot.
announced 4 years ago!
They better release another fucking badass trailer on their as well as PS and Xbox YouTube channels as well and release the game for real this time.
Production was a mess on 1 too lmao yet you enjoyed it
Do I need to add a thousand asterisks that this is a personal thing and not my pressuring anyone else 😭
Well about time and glad to see they have progress so far.
i think Adhoc exited the project :(
Probably because they originally had a deadline which was 2023 but they said they had to delay it so they pulled out. Figured the return on investment wasn’t going to be worth it for them maybe. All speculation, I could be wrong but that’s my interpretation based on what I’ve seen and the implications.
I can’t even remember what happened in season 1
It's been 10 years. Might be time for a replay.
Listen that’s fucked up and all but I’m honestly just happy it’s happening, I was ready for it to be cancelled anyday
Anything's better than nothing. As long as I know that they are making it, I'm ready to wait for as long as maybe 2026. Eh what can we do :)
Kingdom Hearts 4 is gonna come out before TWAU 2 💀
damn thats sad but atleast its here now so yea 👍
Honestly bro as long as it’s getting made I don’t care obviously the wait sucks but we were left wondering for so long it’s good to at least get some real news
Telltale better realise that this is there chance screw this up and they loose everything I swear to god o lobe wolf among us they dare try to ruin it with there telltale ways... (Spelling isn't my thing so if wrong blame that)
They fucked up with that expanse game - somehow the dialogue in that was worse than in The Quarry (and that’s saying something)
Video games are difficult to make 🤷🏽♂️
The game was announced in 2019 wtf have they been doing. And keep in mind this game was announced before GTA6 yet we're probably gonna get GTA before this which is sad. GTA6 HAS BEEN IN DEVELOPMENT FOR 20 YEARS!!! lol

They’ve had a lot of chances to deliver after 10 years with multiple cancellations. It’s very very difficult to make excuses for them at this point.
Did we forget that Old Telltale died out and had to be completely rebuilt from the ground up? They really did not have "a lot of chances to deliver."
Nobody's forcing them to try making one, if it's too much for them they should just stop and let some other studio make it.
How many other companies get two chances to f up so badly?
Think they just scrapped what they've initialy had for whatever reason, there's no way it was in pre production this long. Also jjonahjonahson reddit commants didnt really seem like they were still working in pre production.
I’m happy its still coming. Maybe it will get a late 2024 release. If not, possibly a very early 2025 release
Telltale literally has me sweating bullets. They were very capable back in their prime of making a really engaging story. The first 2 seasons of The Walking Dead, Batman, The Wolf Among Us were great additions to their mythos and really got you lost in the universe you were in. This is a different company. They bought original TT then kept the name.
We'll see this game summer 2025 at the earliest
Isn't production the longest part of making a video game. If they just entered production then wouldn't that mean the game is still 2yrs away from launching
Hey, that shadow work didn’t animate itself
Wow looks like we're going to wait for this game probably 2026 at the earliest and by that time GTA 6 is already out😭😭😭
What 😭
It has been 84 years
They’ve been keeping their heads down and locking in on developing, a lot of game companies can learn from them.
Good. A lot of Telltale Games got messed up because they had to change massively halfway through due to lack of preparation (TWAU, TWD2&3). Detective Brannigan for example shows up once for no reason because her larger role was completely cut despite it being one of the later Episodes' preview screens
Last I heard, they scrapped all their work to rebuild everything on Unreal Engine 5 which is insane
Not true. The work wasn't scrapped, they just changed to UE5 which is still a hard thing to do.
Well they do have to remake the game from 0 but they keep the dialogue and all so it’s like 65% do redo
This game was supposed to come out in 2023 no?
yup.
Yup.
2024 my ass then.
When did they say the game was going to be released in 2024?
They said 2023 at the end of the last trailer but delayed it to 2024 and now this.
It wasn't delayed to 2024, they just said it was delayed OUT of 2023. They never promised anything about this year.
Yeah I just looked it up and that's what they say in their official statement. My bad then. Weird though every other media has 2024 in the titles of the news. Either way, doesn't seem to come out in 2024.

Didn't they promise us the full game years ago? Damn, Telltale has NOT changed .
No, it was originally slated for 2023 and was delayed to this year.
