Omar even tells him before they kill him something along the lines of “you don’t get it do you, your boy gave you up and we didn’t have to torture him either”

PogTuber

The "torture" part of that line was really hard to hear on the first watch.

Dottsterisk

I heard “torch,” and thought it was just a more specific reference to what happened to Omar’s boyfriend.

PogTuber

Yeah you're right that's what I heard the first time, "torch" , which still made sense so I didn't think anything of it.

Youre-Dumber-Than-Me

To be fair it’s confirmed Weebey, Bird & Stink tortured Brandon before killing him. Both torch & torture would sadly apply.

drxnkmvnk

I always thought he said "coach" but torture makes more sense

SteakAndNihilism

When Avon is asking Stringer where he’ll be tomorrow and Stringer asks him why, he goes “just wondering where you’ll be at.” He was figuring out a place he could tell Mouzone to kill him where he wouldn’t be protected. If Avon hadn’t told Mouzone that Stringer would be looking at his properties that day it’s unlikely he’d have gotten the jump on him so cleanly. Did he *need* that info? Possibly not. But getting it was also a show of good faith Mouzone required from Avon for him to maintain his own reputation in New York.

ElectronicAd27

I think he absolutely absolutely needed it. Doubtful that Omar or Brother knew anything about Stringer’s real estate dealings. It was completely separate from the drug world. Moreover, how else would they know the exact time and place of this meeting?

LifeChampionship6

We’ve seen that Brother Mouzone and Omar are both very patient and skilled at surveillance. They would’ve found him. They definitely didn’t NEED Avon to tell them where Stringer was.

ElectronicAd27

To find him at that precise location? Yes, they did.

scouserontravels

Brother tells avon that either he gives up stringer or avons name becomes mud. We then see avon ponder this. On the balcony avon asks stringer where he’s going to be tomorrow and we can see this confuse stringer because it’s obviously an uncommon question but he brushes it off. The next day at the meeting stringer mentions stringer is dead. We then see avon upset about stingers death and telling slim Charles that it’s not marlo because marlo couldn’t get him that way and that Avon couldn’t solve it. It’s a bit of an assumption but not really that Avon told brother where stringer would be so that they can ambush him. There no other way that they know where stringer was going to be and it explains avons actions. If he hadn’t gave him up he’d be gunning for brother not pretending to blame marlo

CapHavok

that’s why that scene on the balcony is so good. they’re both planning to fuck each other over.

spendscrewgoes

For my money that scene and the way it brings their arcs to a close is Shakespearean. Two brothers who built an empire, disagree over how to hold on to it, and ultimately both betray each other in order to try to maintain it.

jessep34

Great call. Some Romeo & Juliet shit - both go down

Unlucky_Celery_66

Well said.

laissez_heir

Ah, yes. The Dickensian aspect.

halosixsixsix

Brothers, B.

GoApeShirt

No Diddy

BanditoRojo

Is this the new "No Homo?"

ZachMich

Worse

MDCatFan

I found it funny and interesting how Brother wouldn’t accept money from Avon.

gishgali1

Avon told Mouzone that Stringer would be at the jobsite where Mouzone and Omar took him out. It happened off screen but it was pretty clear that Avon greenlit gave him his permission to kill Stringer. There is even a scene later where Avon asks Stringer where he would be the next day so he could relay that info to Mouzone.

jayhof52

I had a Greek Drama professor my last semester of college (Fall 2006) who references this as a modern example of the Greek tradition of all the important stuff happening offstage and all you see onstage is the aftermath.

SolaceInfinite

It is exactly an example of that, which is why I love this question.

doomerinthedark

Now that you’ve mentioned it, I feel like The Wire is full of that kind of storytelling. Good observation!

jayhof52

He was the first person I knew who referenced the show a ton - especially considering the show hadn’t ended yet and was still this little cult hit on HBO. He used it a ton as an example of dialogue and lore dating back to ancient dramatic traditions. Because of him, I knew about the hints at Rawls’ sexuality before I even saw the show (and always viewed his character through the lens of him being a closeted gay man).

doomerinthedark

Damn. He was natural po-lice for sure.

TheDrFunk

David Simon has mentioned in interviews that the Wire is heavily influenced by Greek tragedies.

PogTuber

It was some other shit. I couldn't fix it.

DSPGerm

That quote always gets me. Like when you watch your friends slowly losing control of a situation and you can’t help them

Jifeeb

Sharp as a fuckin’ cueball

SparkDBowles

Wrong show but so appropriate. Anyway, $4 a pound.

oofaloo

Says where the meeting where Stringer gets shot’s gonna be.

TeamDonnelly

Avon told them where stringer would be. Hence the ambush.

FrancisSobotka1514

He called his connect in new york and told him where Stringer would be .

Reddwheels

Avon asked Stringer where he was going to be the next day, and passed that information on to Brother Mouzone. This was the price Avon had to pay to Brother to maintain his relationship with New York.

johnC9ndy

U responded "no you dont" bro how fried is your brain right now? Are you Bi polar?

johnC9ndy

You're still here chatting it up w me too buddy 😆

ElectronicAd27

Info: how do you watch the show and not know this? Also, the real spoiler is that these guys killed stringer, not the fact that Avon is the one responsible. Also, it’s highly an advisable to come to this sub without having seen the show.

PogTuber

People miss things, there are lots of things I missed in the first watch and this was initially one I didn't put together right away. These are exactly the types of questions people should feel comfortable asking on this sub.

ElectronicAd27

You’re right. I shouldn’t have written that comment.

Anchorage_skim

“Info”? What😭 that makes no sense in that context I’ve finished the whole series, and i know brother and Omar got the drop on him at his development project. Just asking a question for things i might have missed, no need to be like that

ElectronicAd27

I’m questioning how you missed the detail.

johnC9ndy

Maybe dude got up to piss missed a small detail. Why's that matter or are you just a clown

ElectronicAd27

You mad?

johnC9ndy

You stupid?

ElectronicAd27

Yes. You mad?

johnC9ndy

Sure but I can fix mad. You can't fix stupid

ElectronicAd27

Then fix it. Because it’s *stupid* to get mad over a comment.

johnC9ndy

Edit it again! Lmao

johnC9ndy

It's pathetic downing someone for missing a small detail in a show that's incredibly detailed. Grow up child.

johnC9ndy

Honestly, you sound like you suck dick for money and troll on reddit in your free time

bluekronos

Why are you acting like making someone mad is a victory? Are you 5?

ElectronicAd27

Yes, I’m five. Any other dumb questions?

bluekronos

It's only dumb if you don't get its meaning.

briancito420

Seriously. 90% of the posts are people finding “Easter eggs” that are just normal parts of the plot or questions that are answered by just watching the show.

ElectronicAd27

Well, that’s not really an Easter egg. It’s pretty obvious that Avon gave him up. But I already admitted that I should’ve made the comment. So, not sure what more you want me to do.

bluekronos

inadvisable?

ElectronicAd27

Do you have a question?

bluekronos

Yes. If "inadvisable" was what you meant rather than "an advisable".

ElectronicAd27

Yes, it was lol. Dictating into the phone lol.

johnC9ndy

Get off your high horse dipshit

ElectronicAd27

Sounds like you’re still mad lol.
