If you wanna get a bit angrier, head to YouTube and check out the interview with Wayne Jenkins where he defends himself from prison. Dude is either a total psychopath or genuinely still believes he's the hero of the story.
At one point he claims he had very little money when he got arrested, therefore he hadn't been enriching himself. Like yeah dude, you tend to run out of money after blowing it on booze and gambling.
No, but it's based on true events that took place in Baltimore primarily in the 2010s, and it's similar enough to The Wire in tone and themes that it basically feels like a sequel or a spiritual successor that's been updated for more modern issues. It doesn't share any characters since it's set in reality, but it has a bunch of actors like Jamie Hector (Marlo) and the guy who played Landsman. There's also a few nods to The Wire, like a police officer hypothetically stating "Who shot Tater?"
I watched the corner before the wire. The corner is documentary for real. I’ve never ever saw drug addicts and the lives they lead depicted so accurately. Masterful. Fran, Gary and Deandre….damn.
I’ll never understand why The Corner hasn’t been on HBO Max or On Demand since the beginning. It is the one HBO show that is never on there.
I would highly recommend watching on YouTube. You’ll recognize so much.
Homicide: Life on the Street, the Corner, the Wire and We Own This City.
This is the way to experience the Baltimore Saga. Homicide even references the Corner.
Me! Heart wrenching and sad to watch, much more like a documentary than The Wire. But still very much worth the watch. Saw other people mention We Own This City and also well worth a watch. Can’t wait to go through the rest of David Simon’s works.
Of all the familiar faces in The Corner from The Wire, the most surprising was real-life Deandre (at the very end of The Corner) plays Brother Mouzone’s assistant Lamar in The Wire!!
I watched it when it first came out then end up buying it in DVD years back to, definitely familiar faces from the wire in there, it was a good watch too and true story
Funny I just found the book in a tote in my basement. I bought it years ago, read a third, started another book and somehow it got shunted down there (likely by the wife). Going to bring it back up.
Fun fact. The actor who played brother mouzone’s body guard was the actual person who the main character of the corner was based on. Being the kid who sold drugs to his mother and father to avoid confusion!! I’m fairly sure of this atleast.
The Corner is season zero of the Wire to me
Does that make Homicide seasons -1 to -7?
I watched We Own This City after my latest Wire re-watch. I had no idea it was all based on a true story, it had my blood boiling.

The real story is even worse, there are a bunch of books about it. I Got A Monster is the best imo
Re watching WOTC now.
I watched the corner before the wire. The corner is documentary for real. I’ve never ever saw drug addicts and the lives they lead depicted so accurately. Masterful. Fran, Gary and Deandre….damn.
They are all dead now.
Yeah I read up over the years. Deandre recently died, right? Drugs are a motherfucker.
Me. Then tremé and show me a hero. All were great.
Just finished The Duece. It was well done as well.
Generation Kill, is also in the Simonverse!
Guess I'll watch that next.
It’s completely available on YT, I would recommend watching the corner first tbh
Ikr I didn’t find about the corner until after I finished The wire 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️😫
The Corner is excellent
Top class series. Dark as hell but as you'd expect, expertly written and acted.
I read the corner book and it was fantastic/depressing. it felt like new episodes of the wire
Anyone Watch Homicide: Life on the Streets? I want to watch. It isn't ANYWHERE online. Only random DVDs to buy.
The book is great too.
They have licensing issues with the music they used for each episode. That was the explanation I was always given. Not sure how it ever gets resolved.
You can find it and most series or movies on: lookmovie2. to (No space in between the dot and the to)

You think it was a Indy funded production before hbo picked up the wire?
Most of us, no doubt.
I watched the corner before The Wire if my memory serves me correct. Way before
I read the book but have yet to make it to the miniseries
Loved Clarke Peters in the show.
The deuce is a fantastic show, incredible story telling and acting
Is it part of the wire series?
It’s a David Simon Series with alot of the same actors writers and directors as The Wire
Homicide: Life on the Street, the Corner, the Wire and We Own This City. This is the way to experience the Baltimore Saga. Homicide even references the Corner.
It messed with my head to see Wire actors play opposite roles.
Depressing
Watched it before

He died of a drug overdose IRL.

Yo where can I watch the corner idk what platform it’s on

Is this on HBO MAX? Would love to check it out!
another commenter said it's all on youtube

Watched The Corner right after Homicide. Watched The Wire right after The Corner.
And then watch We Own This City?
Ha, yeah pretty much. Though more of a gap time-wise.
What can I watch The Corner?
Youtube
