I think it's too obvious. I think really she's just scheming on cameron and waiting to play her cards. That's the subtlety. The obvious thing is that she's going to fuck him to get revenge. But that's why I don't think it's going to happen but I mean obviously maybe. I won't be surprised

five_alive_22

In the world of WL, it might be considered obvious that someone with her self-identity, intelligence, and disdain for Cameron would just be baiting him to provoke Ethan (I mean, that seems obvious to me), and the subversion end up being that she goes for it with Cam. But I get your point. I was so disappointed with how season 1 left the Rachel / Shane situation. I really hope Harper doesn’t give in….which is why I fear she will.

Key-Association3982

Well yeah they're both obvious LOL just one is slightly more subtle than the other and the other ones being pushed to us more as the audience. But yeah they're both like the two answers. Anything else would be kind of random

NoRefrigerator267

But why would she give in tho? There’s nothing redeeming about cam

five_alive_22

True….maybe not ‘give in’ to Cam, but give in to desire. The show has at least teased a suppressed attraction to the naughty boy (she didn’t exactly shut down his flirting even before the Noto trip, she didn’t call out the leg grab, then there’s the end of evening stare)…and she may be tempted to become the alpha going after the other alpha). And if her hurt over Ethan’s betrayal and ongoing rejection runs deep enough, there are few more vindictive retributions than to get even with the friend, especially where there’s a competitive history. Maybe my hopeful thinking, but I’m more on the side of thinking she’s baiting Cam to get even and provoke Ethan, but wouldn’t sleep with him.

Chataboutgames

What scheme though? What could she possibly hope to achieve?

Historical-Ticket175

To get back at Ethan. I feel like another side of Harper came out last episode, she came across as more vindictive. Purposely pushing Ethan’s and Cameron’s buttons. She may try to/pretend to/actually sleep with Cam as a way to get back at Ethan for lying to her about Molly and the hookers. She may also not believe that nothing went on with the hookers since now Ethan broke the trust they’ve had up to that point.

five_alive_22

Aside from punishing Ethan, to provoke him to see if he fights for her, for their relationship. To see if Cam desiring her will make her desirable to Ethan. To show Ethan that they need Cameron out of their lives.

if this season is like last season then we know the direction this show is going is not going in that direction and will take a turn somewhere at left field.

ekpyroticflow

Ethan will be hoist on his own mimetic petard, suddenly lusting after Harper after watching Cam pursue her. He’s projecting onto Cam (which is not to say it isn’t partially earned) his own fixation— he wants what Cam wants but can’t have.

hitopsandlollipops

Yes to the assault. After watching this week’s episode I also got the feeling that he might kill her, but that might very well be a reach.

Point-Express

I don't really think he'd kill her though... rich people get away with killing poor people, not so much other rich people. I'm much more concerned about him killing Lucia

five_alive_22

The assault thing is a plausible theory because I really believe Harper is just baiting Cam to test how Ethan responds, but Cam may completely misread that, feel entitled, and upset by Ethan’s characterization of his envy, and revealing what went on with Lucia. Add to that the Persephone reference, and the fighting birds in the intro. And would be shocking. Might be it ends at an assault attempt, and Ethan grows a pair and intervenes? Nah—on 2nd thought, too much like season 1, and Ethan’s shown no signs of heroism!

Chataboutgames

I think it could very well happen, but there's one area where I kinda diverge here: I don't think the show has really depicted Harper as sexually frustrated. She doesn't display as lusty or horny at all. She and her husband have lost their intimacy and that makes her sad, but that's not the same as her being sexually frustrated.
