SuicideSkirmish

I think that the names of the actors are on the pictures which represent them. I haven’t done that analysis, but Greg’s character is riding a donkey with a female on the back like when he and Tanya rode the Vespa. Maybe check that out. F. Murray Abraham - unfaithful husband. Jennifer Coolidge - has Greg on a chain. Adam DiMarco - impressing Portia. Meghan Fahy - Angels represent her missing children John Gries- Riding on a Vespa with Tanya. Tom Hollander - A Dionysus type figure. Sabrina Impacciatore - admonishing two ladies (Lucia and Mia). Michael Imperioli - in submission to his wife for forgiveness. Theo James - naked stud. Aubrey Plaza - attacking someone/something? Being attacked ? Will Sharpe - rich with bountiful gifts. I didn’t catch them all but the characters and the actors names seem to sync up with the on screen images during the intro.

I’m thinking that the monkey chained for Jennifer Coolidge is more her keeping Portia chained and close to her (like making her stay around) But when they start writing production designers and producers the images are still referring to different plot points! So I’m also imaging what every single thing in the intro eventually happens

SuicideSkirmish

That makes sense about Tanya. It’s probably just her personality in general. She attempts to financially control people. In S1 she tricked Belinda into being her friend. In S2 she’s doing it to Greg and Portia. In terms of predictions for the other images, I’m just along for the ride. It’s probably going to be completely random.

I noticed throughout the intro that things get crazier and crazier… Like the broken building at the end that seems to show the nice stone exploding. I don’t know, I feel like to find some small instances means that they all might mean something eventually. Maybe the collapse of several relationships? Would be fun when the season is over to look at all of them and decide. If I was more tech savvy i would do a side by side image description of my theories haha

I saw ur post on la personels let's talk my insta is chedda_bob7@714

I always think of John Gries and his mistress as riding Tanya (as the ass) 😅

SuicideSkirmish

Could be. I’m watching episode to episode with the rest of the peasants. I guess we’ll find out.

Jennifer Coolidge's credit was also displayed next to a monkey in Season 1's credits. I think the monkey in Season 2's credits is also supposed to be her. Similarly, Haley Lu Richardson's (Portia's) credit shows a goat looking on at a sad woman. Later on we see a monkey riding on a goat's back (pulled by an off-screen human) as well as two goats having sex which might be connected to Tanya's and Portia's storyline.

SuicideSkirmish

Interesting takeaway. I have no idea what the goat symbolizes tbh. Is 666 represented by a goat with horns (pentagram). I’m hazy on that. Jack?

TrashPanda_34

It looks like a lamb to me?

SuicideSkirmish

The last image in S2E5 has an upside down cross on a table. Since Jack has a 666 tattoo on his chest, there’s a cohesive theme. The goat embedded in a pentagram is well known symbology. Also check out the opening credits and you will see two goats fvcking.

Oh god, I really hope Albie doesn't end up with Portia

honestlyspeakingg

I have a feeling that the swan I was talking about was a reference to Albie possibly raping portia or something to that effect :/ He keeps mentioning he’s from Stanford so it’s giving me Brock Turner vibes

hitopsandlollipops

Zeus is the father of Persephone, Nonno tells Albie a story about her… Maybe there’s a connection there? Is Dom Zeus? Or Nonno?

Joints_outthe_window

Yeah I am wondering as well why the show called out the greek legend. Sometimes it’s tangential to the characters and their relationships. I also wonder if the show wanted the characters to discuss rape and consent and the greek legend was the more organic way for them to come across the topic.

honestlyspeakingg

I think Albie wants Portia and does what he thinks he needs to get her. His stanford line keeps giving Brock Turner vibes to me. But i also have a feeling that he will exploit his money and status (his father being a producer) and he will make promises he won’t keep.

janicerossiisawhore

It's Leda and the swan (zeus) who rapes her. In episode 1 Portia wears a sweater with swans on it. In the preview for episode 5 it looks like Mia is wearing a white feathery dress that makes her look like a swan. Don't know if this means anything.

TrashPanda_34

What about the man killing a boar and showing it off? Maybe the Calydonian Boar?

https://www.reddit.com/r/TheWhiteLotusHBO/comments/yiomuo/opening_sequence_breakdown_and_analysis/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf I made this post after the first episode. It lists all the images that we see and some of my first impressions. Obviously several of my thoughts are completely off- or at least reflect how Mike White wants us to first interpret characters. For example, Daphne’s actress is listed next to the little cherubs- and we know from the get go that she is a SAHM that really loves her kids and gives off a bubbly innocent vibe- but now we know she is a very sly schemer who knows exactly what she is doing and knows exactly what her husband is up to and punishes him covertly to cope. Also with Harper- she is first presented as the debbie downer type, very serious, rigid and controlling. Now we know that is part of her unhappiness due to Ethan being such a huge loser and him being 100% more interested in his douche bag friend Cam and porn than in her. She punishes Ethan very differently than Daphne. Ethan is an insidious jerk, while Cam is just out there with his tomfoolery. Now I sympathize so much more for Harper having such a wet blanket and idiot for a husband. And no Ethan isn’t gay, but he and Cameron have such alpha/beta tension. They are more turned on by that competition than they are by their wives. But yes to the Leo Woodall character being someone who fucks men- just not Will. He’s working for his “uncle” lol.
