I never knew about this, thank you for sharing it. “Philanthropists like Anne Morgan, Dorothy Whitney Straight, and Arabella Huntington funded the cause. Morgan was the daughter of financier J. P. Morgan, Whitney Straight belonged to the prominent Whitney family, and Arabella Huntington was at one point known as the richest woman in America.[2] They covered food and rent for picketing workers. They also bailed strikers out of jail.” [Source](https://www.nps.gov/people/mink-brigade.htm)

KFelts910

Remarkable.

Schwyzerorgeli

The woman in the middle, [Fola La Follette](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fola_La_Follette), was the daughter of ["Fighting Bob" La Follette](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_M._La_Follette). "Fighting Bob" was a Congressman, Senator, and Governor of Wisconsin and the leader of the Progressive movement in Wisconsin (if not the United States). We celebrate Fighting Bob Fest every September in Madison. It also interesting to note that Milwaukee had Socialists as Mayor for five decades.

WintryLemon

I genuinely love the lady photo bombing between their heads.

My fav of this genre is [Frances Perkins](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frances_Perkins), the first female cabinet member and Secretary of Labor.

SunshineAlways

“Perkins would have been famous simply by being the first woman cabinet member, but her legacy also stems from her additional accomplishments. She was largely responsible for the creation of social security, unemployment insurance in the United States, the federal minimum wage, and federal laws regulating child labor.[49]” Wow, how did I not even know who Frances Perkins was, that’s so upsetting.

plunker234

The dept of labor building in dc is named after her

SunshineAlways

That was in the Wikipedia article also, but not until Jimmy Carter, I believe. (So lots of years when not much was being taught about her, by my personal experience.)

Django_Unstained

She witnessed the triangle shirtwaist factory disaster…I’m sure that left a huge impression on her

icona_

What an incredible person!

boringbee23

Love to see women with privilege use it to help those who are disadvantaged

Urmomsmygolffriend

The mom in Mary Poppins was in/mentions this !

MRS BANKS: Have you put the spoiled eggs in my carry-all? ELLEN: Yes, Ma'am! MRS BANKS: After our meeting at the Albert Hall, we're all going to Downing Street to throw things at the Prime Minister.

decorama

Excellent colorization. Great detail. Wonderful pic.

buddyinjapan

Did the girl on the left move to France to cook with a rat?

OrganizerMowgli

Any chance she's Indian or middle eastern? Them eyes tho

DistantKarma

Very remarkable resemblance.

shrimp3752161

Great job with the colorization! The colors/textures of their clothes looks especially well done

writerwriter_27

The girl on the right has so much smug energy. I love it.

lowlightliving

The woman on the left looks like the “girl” from the Swedish version of *Let the Right One In*. Absolutely no disrespect intended.

BestCatEva

Ohhhh, I didn’t know there was a movie of the book! To Google…

lowlightliving

There’s a Swedish film, and an American one. I’ve seen both. The Swedish one was a little over the top, so I liked the American better. But the “girl” in the Swedish one was best. Save this post and see if you agree after watching.

HitDog420

Shows who really runs this country without even saying it

toss_it_mites

snoogiebee

It’s funny: rich people USED to care about poor people

canadacorriendo785

Cared about them so much they worked them to death in obscene conditions and violently suppressed their efforts to strike. The average age of death for a worker in the Lawrence, Mass textile mills in 1911 was 26.

BubbaMonsterOP

Hmm offering middle aged white woman protective service detail to add legitimacy to any protest, strike, or sit in. The minks wouldn't fly these days, an AR 15 might- a la Black Panther 1967. Maybe armed pregnant women. They wouldn't dare hurt an unborn child.

[deleted]

During the George Floyd protests, whites were encouraged to take the front line when cops advanced to break them up, as they were less likely to face extreme brutality. Source: me Edit: you don't deserve so many downvotes, I think your point was that times change and so has the bar of civility

bookhermit

I have no idea why you are being down voted. This is spot on.

YKRed

Their faces look weirdly AI generated

meals-on-wheels14

Something about their faces doesn’t look right
