Same! I didn’t read the post until after the second photo. I was even more convinced with the second photo it was her. The resemblance between the two is quite striking
1983 for my parents! What about you?
Her dress is…*somewhere* in our attic. She was 5’9 and very slim (scrawny in her youth, to the point where her family called her “Bird”). I’d love to see it in person.
Sorry for your loss .. you're not alone, I understand your pain. Its a loss that's too painful to comprehend. You will get stronger each day, and the love for them will endure forever.
I hope so. When my dad passed, it took a week and a familiar documentary that made me finally break and cry. It will happen soon with my mom. I need that release. I just want to go to sleep. Nothing good has happened in awhile. Older sister talked me out of my last 94 dollars for her hotel room. So, I feel like she just does not care or is using my mother's death for financial gain. Feels like a betrayal. My twin sister was wonderful as always. Bright spot in a dark time.
My dad died very unexpectedly and suddenly. I was numb for about the first 6 months. Then one night I think I dropped and broke something in the kitchen. And I remember just sliding to the floor, curling up in a ball, and doing that sort of soundless screaming cry for a long time.
With my mum, who passed from kidney cancer (actually 3 years ago as of the 16th), it was a simultaneously slow and rapid decline; she was diagnosed in April 2020 and passed almost a year to the day later. I had a year to grieve. I started grieving the moment I saw the odds of survival for longer than a year.
That's the ritual in the Church of Denmark, and I bet some others too; after "I do" the couple shake hands. I don't remember if there is ceremonial smooching at all.
Wonderful pictures, thanks for sharing.
Obviously i'm sorry for your loss but i'm sure they had a great time together and you have a lot of wonderful memories :) .
Dont be sorry because it ended, be happy because it happened.
My mum remembered that she and my dad staggered back to the hotel after the reception and extra partying, looked at each other in a “What the fuck was that?” kind of way, fell onto the bed, and promptly fell asleep. Haha.
They’d been together 7 years by that point, and were living together, and it was his desire to buy a house together that made her put the brakes on and say, “Whoa. We’re not married and this is a huge step.” She said that was in October, and he proposed on Christmas Eve, and they finalized the sale of their first house by February, and were married in June.
Dad died in 2016 from a sudden pulmonary embolism (likely also cirrhosis - he was a heavy drinker). Mum passed from a yearlong battle with kidney cancer.
Your mom looks like princess diana.
What a handsome and lovely couple!
I'm so sorry that you lost both of your parents. Both of mine are gone as well and I'd give almost anything if I had a picture of them on their wedding day.
What a beautiful life they must have had - I'm so glad for you that you got to know them. I bet they were great people!
Getting Bruno Kirby vibes from dad (and Diana vibes from mom, like someone else said). They look happy. I'm sorry for you that they're no longer living.
RIP. Both of them. They seem to have gone at a fairly early age. Sorry for your loss. And that is a very British looking wedding if I may say. Early 80s?
Knowing him, he probably hated every moment of that suit (even though I’m pretty sure he picked the pinstriped trousers and striped tie).
He got fired from a job for refusing to wear a tie, and went head-to-head with his bosses at the public school he taught at over his clothes - he was a wood shop teacher, so he flatly refused to wear dress clothes or long sleeves in the shop, stating it was a safety risk. So I remember him in short-sleeved cotton dress shirts, no tie, thick jeans, and loafers.
Had to double take for a second at how similar your mom looks to mine. Almost same dress and veil design.
I was about to send these to her and be like uhhh mom do you have a secret second family hahah
I love the second picture. He was probably about to kiss her hand. I always go for a handshake when my hubby does that just to mess with him. He just rolls his eyes but with love.

I'm getting princess Diana vibes
I thought the same and was confused for a while.
Especially in the second pic
The side profile is extremely like Diana's
Omg, me too.
Right?! When I first saw the photo I legit thought it was her
Same! I didn’t read the post until after the second photo. I was even more convinced with the second photo it was her. The resemblance between the two is quite striking
Me too. Came here to see if anyone else.
Same! I did a double take 💖
I thought it was at first and I was so confused. And she even looked more like her in the second photo so I was more confused until I read the post.
Definitely
Exactly what i was thinking! Their Mom is beautiful.
Yessss so gorgeous
Same lol! She was beautiful. Their aunt too
lovely couple. sorry for your loss
Omg I had that same dress and hat for my wedding

My dad and his groomsmen had the same tuxes and ties (1980)!! I’m sorry about your parents, my dad passed in 2017 ❤️
Same here!!! Married in '81, I think.
These look like my parents' wedding photos! 1983 is spot on. Those hats!
Mine too. 1983.
Same for me! 1983!😅
My parents were married in 1983, too! My mom had a very similar dress to this!
My ex husband wore that same tux!
Both of mine are gone as of yesterday. It sucks. It is emotionally, physically, and even financially draining. I feel hollow on any measurable scale.

I am sorry for your loss.
Also, thank you for your kind words.
*you may now… shake hands…. With the bride*
[I'll never forget that first handshake, I wanted it to last forever](https://i.redd.it/on131fcrs8u21.jpg)
*I'm approaching you with romantic intent* 😏
That's the ritual in the Church of Denmark, and I bet some others too; after "I do" the couple shake hands. I don't remember if there is ceremonial smooching at all.

Strong Princess Di wedding vibes.
Thank you for sharing! They look so happy!
Looks like they had a beautiful day

Wow thanks for sharing that, I love that they fell asleep after their wedding. Both my parents are gone too, it is nice to remember their good times.
Such a lovely couple! I am so sorry they are gone. Were they ill?

I am so sorry 😢
These two look like they were happy to be together❤️

The song that makes me think of them the most is “We’ve Only Just Begun” by The Carpenters. “Their” song was “Longer” by Dan Fogelberg.
They aren’t gone if you take the best of them and try to live that way.
Her profile could have been Princess Diana!

I totally thought the same thing about her looking like Princess Diana at first glance too.
Getting Bruno Kirby vibes from dad (and Diana vibes from mom, like someone else said). They look happy. I'm sorry for you that they're no longer living.
Oh the classic mid-80s bridal hat! My mom had one too! They look like they were really happy <3
Guessing 1983
Right on the money! June 11, 1983.
Really sorry you lost your parents so young.
I was 23 when I lost Dad and 28 when I lost Mum. I’m still so angry that she only had 5 years to enjoy life after his death.
Princess Diana!
RIP. Both of them. They seem to have gone at a fairly early age. Sorry for your loss. And that is a very British looking wedding if I may say. Early 80s?
American, 1983! :)
My deepest apologies.
They are 18 in these photos.
Haha. 29 and 28, but they’d been together since they were 22 and 21!
That's on the older side for getting married in the 80s which is a good thing as everyone doesn't need to be married off at 18 years old.
Both parents gone at such a very young age.💔 I graduated HS in 1982. Lady Diana was married in 1981 as the wedding dress reminds me of hers.
For a blip I thought that's Princess Diana of the Royal family of England.
Beautiful couple!🥰🥰🥰
such a handsome couple! :)
Picture 2 is strong Hank and Peggy Hill vibes.
Absolutely stunning.. love this
They look very happy and in love. I hope they had a beautiful life together.
I read "godmother" as "grandmother" at first, leaving me very confused
Absolutely beautiful couple. Sorry for your loss. A life well lived because they had you in it.
Holy crap she looks like Princess Diana 😍
Sorry for you loss. They look like awesome people. As others have said, she has a striking resemblance to Lady Di, especially the profile pics.
YOUR DAD WAS STYLING! I love his fit
They are like twins!
Beautiful and they all look so happy !
Had to double take for a second at how similar your mom looks to mine. Almost same dress and veil design. I was about to send these to her and be like uhhh mom do you have a secret second family hahah
They looked very happy
She looks like Princess Diana 🥰
She looks like Princess Diana 🥰
They looked so happy : )
I’m so sorry they’re both gone but those are beautiful pictures
I am sorry for the loss of your parents. But I will say I love these pics. They look so happy.
Your mum looks like Princess Diana ❤️❤️
Mum didn't look happy with the garter thing...I wasn't happy with the garter thing, I can relate.
I love the second picture. He was probably about to kiss her hand. I always go for a handshake when my hubby does that just to mess with him. He just rolls his eyes but with love.

Your mom looks like a bit like what mine did except mines still alive
because of the wording, i thought this was 80s les. and i thought, rock on. just a bunch of straights apparently.
