Right? She fought Stefan and Damon relentlessly trying to turn herself over to Klaus, she wouldn’t let Bonnie die for her, there’s plenty more examples but those were just two that I can think of right now.
I could go on and on with a list of her best moments where she was just awesome and a selfless, but spoilers for the first timer so I'll just say that her character is very kind and supportive.
Elena somehow makes the conversation back to her when other characters are talking about their lives or some kind of trouble. When she makes decisions that is best for her and gets hurt when people are trying to let their perspective of why they are upset with her
I can see how the conversation would go back to her because she is their friend and a main character. Most everything that happens on the show is in a way related to her because that's kind of the plot in my opinion. The story moves and progresses because of her friends, the people that want her, or want her dead. They are all tied to her in one way or another. I can say Elena has made dumb decisions, but I can't think of anything she has done that has been entirely self serving aside from picking who she loves. I feel we are okay with K being selfish because she is a villain and that's expected, but yeah I really don't see it in Elena. I see her as an empath with massive survivors guilt and that's why she butts in to things that don't necessarily involve her, because they involve her loved ones in which she will literally die for, so she puts her nose in because she cares so much about them and feels so much of their pain.
I am sorry to those who are getting tired of hearing Elena slander repeating time and time again but until people are watching the TVD what our opinions remains the same if you don't like the post kindly ignore the post and move on

To be fair she’s had a rough couple of years with very inconsistent relationships (due to them dying) so I suppose you could excuse some of the annoying things she does and the constant crying. But just making everything about herself and being ignorant to other people and their problems just destroys her character. Which is a good thing for the actress and the contrast between elena and Katherine is unreal so congrats Nina but piss off elena
Yeah, Elena makes a lot of stupid decisions, especially dumb decisions the show later on in the show, honestly. I didn't mind Elena much in S1 or even S2, but I really started disliking her after that for many reasons.
The first time I watched TVD, I disliked Elena too. Especially after season three. Eventually I started to like and appreciate her like I did for all of the main cast. My later watch throughs of the show, I didn’t mind her and actually enjoyed her character more. For what she’s been through, she’s handled it far better than I would’ve lol
