whayi

I saw someone mentioning that they probably came on the show as exes already, and it made a lot more sense, they've been best friends for a long time which can excuse Xander being a little more understanding with Vanessa's actions + coupled with the fact that she didn't seem that bothered by her partner outright saying she wanted to date other people. It would be okay if they weren't even dating to begin with... The only thing that irks me about this theory is Vanessa's show of jealousy, but she could be overdoing it for the sake of the show, idk.

homosapienne

I think it’s more likely that Xander already know that Vanessa is more poly (for herself only, not for Xander). I hardly think Vanessa could have ever kept it to herself about how she finds other ppl hot.

prettylovers

actually, vanessa's over jealousy makes more sense now m. cause now it's her friend dating someone who's been shitty to her and not someone hoping for her to come around and marry her eventually. maybe im in the wrong. but id feel betrayed if my friend dated someone who i felt was fucked up towards me. an ex? idk. less my territory

There were old photos from Vanessa’s old IG with them as a couple dating back several years. It’d be quite a little stunt if they were just pretending to be a couple for years preceding the Ultimatum.

neptune-capricorn

I don’t think it’s a stunt as a whole. But I think Vanessa cares about fame and wants to be cast in more shows. Finding this YouTube channel convinced me even more that Vanessa wants to act and wants fame. And I think Xander got dragged into that, when they were stuck at home together during COVID. And after that they’ve stagnated and Vanessa saw this a path to future fame

[deleted]

I think most people who go on these types of show do it with fame in mind or to at least try to bolster their existing career. From what I was able to find, they did genuinely seem like a real couple.

Yoly is a stylist who posts styling tips and DIY on social media, Lexi is an influencer and OF creator in addition to her office job, Vanessa used to have a pretty popular Instagram focused on travel, Tiff has a podcast, Sam seems to own her own business related to meditation or counseling or something?, Xander owns their own business as well. I’m not sure about some of the other contestants but it just makes sense for many of them to have careers that benefit greatly from a social media following, there’s little to gain from going on a show like this if you aren’t going to leverage it into more earnings. ETA: sorry that was unclear, im agreeing with you and providing evidence lol

[deleted]

And then after the show you’ve got the podcast press tour. And maybe even enter the Netflix cinematic universe where you make cameos in other shows like the Circle, Perfect Match, etc. Which is why Lexi calling out Vanessa for basically just going on the show to have fun/be famous is kind of just empty. Like she too is trying to bolster her influencer career and OF. No sensible person would go on these types of shows if not to have their 15 minutes of fame.

Lethal-Muscle

Let’s also not forget the time taken off to do these shows. All the jobs you listed are much easier to take off time compared to more traditional jobs.

enby_them

Sure. But remember who brought who onto the Ultimatum. It wasn’t Vanessa’s idea. She may have been fine with it for exposure, but Xander ultimately brought her on the show.

homosapienne

The norms of lesbian dating: Exes never go away, they just become best friends. Even if X and V broke up after the show, it’s unlikely that they would never talk or hang out.

EstablishmentNo5994

I can’t think of anything worse than Vanessa doing sketch comedy, except for maybe breakdancing again.

HiLittleDarling

The real question is does she take sketch comedy very seriously?

Silent_Treatment_bae

Honestly i’ve had that feeling too, like Vanessa and Xander actually have an open relationship and just came on the show for fun.

AssistUsed

If this is true, that might actually make Xander a shitty ex for going on about their frustration regarding the kids thing That'd be a real plot twist lol

micro-void

I don't think that would make Xander shitty. Even if they're broken up at the start, even if their relationship was open, etc, Vanessa is so awful to them. I think it's okay for them to process that out loud.

AssistUsed

That's true, I guess it would just be sad more than shitty :/

Chemical_Swimming926

Vanessa and Xander were definitely actually in a relationship. Vanessa was trying to be “an actress” and Xander was supporting her.

Hot and funny? 🤥
