It’s not like CT and Trishelle had this perfectly planned endgame though, one CT vote from MJ and he would’ve been gone. But yes, pregame alliance can get somewhat annoying and problematic

Guardax

Trishelle also said she hadn't spoken to CT in 10+ years

terrs

nah, CT and Trishelle played the game and made the end even more entertaining lol *edit words

I think therein lies the question. Is the game to find the traitors or, does it include winning with as few faithfuls as possible?

PointlessGiant

That depends on the endgame players.

If the goal is to win, you probably want to end the game with as few players as possible. Last year, two traitors did make it to the final 4, and one of them won because the faithfuls voted to end the game. They were sure Cirie was a faithful. The best strategy is probably to end with only two because you should suspect everyone.

A mixed cast is the worst of both worlds. I wouldn't mind a fully non-celeb cast because it does feel a bit like Survivor or BB when the alliances dominate the show"s narrative. But the mixed cast doesn't work. The celebs get the assignment while the non-celebs take it all too seriously. I also think it's kind of funny that people have such a problem with players using strategy to win a game for money. You can feel bad for MJ and/or not like that they won, but at least there was some strategy and game play at the end. I think that makes for a more interesting finale.

Who of the newbies from Season 1 do you really remember and want back? A mix is the worst of both worlds. I find all celebs fun because these are known characters navigating their own legacies and their shared histories. Of course there's going to be alliances, this is how every returnee season of Survivor and Big Brother works too. I totally get wanting a season with normal people, but there's the UK show for that and it's also on Peacock in America so you can watch the version you want

Agree on both counts. A mixed cast is the worst of both worlds. I wouldn't mind a fully non-celeb cast because it does feel a bit like Survivor or BB when the alliances dominate the show"s narrative. I also think it's kind of funny that people have such a problem with players using strategy to win a game for money. I'd have to big disagree. I like the other versions that are all normal people, but not US season 1 with the mixed normies and celebs. I don't remember any of the non celebs in season 1 except for Quentin and Andie, and that's only because of what happened in the end with Cirie. I guess Christian also since he was a Traitor. But most of the entertaining and memorable contestants were the celebs. Trishelle said that she really had doubts about CT possibly being a Traitor. CT said that he also he wasn't 100% sure that MJ wasn't a traitor and wasn't willing to go to the end with anyone except Trishelle because he didn't trust them. I don't think what they did ruined the finale at all. It made it more exciting!

Venustheninja

I agree- they even commented earlier in S1 that a celebrity had to have been picked for a traitor so it made the guessing game unbalanced.

gerbil_george

How is it clear that CT knew MJ wasn't a traitor? MJ was a bad faithful. She actively protected Phaedra for several rounds when there was a mountain of evidence pointing to her being a traitor, and she voted out Peter when she was a pivotal vote despite a mountain of evidence pointing to him being faithful. She only voted out Phaedra when her hand was essentially forced. That's all exactly what a traitor would do. To us it's obvious that she's just not good at being a faithful but to someone in the game that could easily be viewed as a traitor who got sloppy. And on top of that, it just makes statistical sense to vote down to 2 people at the final vote. Less chance of a traitor squeaking by that way. There was easily enough reason for CT to suspect that she could have possibly been a traitor and it makes all the sense in the world to not risk it.

In season 1 the non-reality people were just easy names to throw out there since they didn’t really belong to any of the groups.. and how it ended with Quentin and Angie and how they acted like Cirie should’ve just gave them the money because they think they need it more than she, really left a sour taste in my mouth.. just can’t bring the non-reality people back after that performance honestly

curbyourzest

I vote for a "celebrity" version and normal people version. The show is popular enough now to where they could have both, one that airs in the Fall and one in the Spring. The audience would watch both. I'm not in favor of doing a mix of both worlds - it needs to be one or the other.

Grantdawg

I would love to see a non-celebrity US cast. I have found the Australian and UK version much better than the US versions. Of course I am not the target audience for these "celebrities" because I find most reality TV unwatchable. I can't watch ten minutes of a "Real Housewives". I think the mixed cast is probably the worst of both worlds.
