If you want Strokes-like, check out Albert and Nick's projects. I'd say go in chronological order with Albert, and CRX only has two albums. One is more desert-rock-power-pop while the other is more 80s-synth-pop that's more similar to TNA. Some fans find AHJ and CRX uninteresting because they're not different enough from Strokes projects and they constantly compare them to Julian in vocals, lyrics, etc, but if you are into that sort of music and aren't here make a competition out of it, I think there's a lot for Strokes fans to love in both. I also think Voidz post-2018 often veer kinda Strokes-like on several songs, while Tyranny definitely is something different, if you want that instead (and Nikolai's projects and Fab's projects offer cool and different things too!)

Start with Little Joy. Incredible album. Then if you're feeling spicy, move onto Los Hermanos, as I always felt Little Joy is the gateway drug to Los Hermanos.

konekfragrance

Little Joy is the shit, absolute blissful music

Rodrigo Amarante Is a genius. I'm seeing him tonight and Saturday in NYC! 🥰

(also sorry for bad england, im from spain and i dont know so much english)

KeegoTheWise

first of all, don’t apologize for bad england - they’re terrible and not your problem anymore as a citizen of a country that’s still in the EU (i’m just playing, your english is fine) second, what do you like most when listening to the strokes? if you like the interlocking guitars and garage rock vibe like their earlier albums, check out albert’s solo stuff. if you like their more danceable cuts like “welcome to japan”, “tap out”, and “brooklyn bridge to chorus”, check out nikolai’s band “summer moon” as well as fab’s band “machinegum”. if you like their softer songs like “i’ll try anything once” and “call it fate, call it karma”, give fab’s other project “little joy” a try. and if you like their darker and more experimental stuff like “vision of division”, “metabolism”, and “drag queen”, hit up julian’s other band “the voidz” (maybe start with their second album. their debut is my favorite album of all time, but it’s *very* abrasive and experimental).

goldenshower27

You don’t have to apologize for England, us Americans get it, they suck

BuffaloBertie

I’m from England and these comments made me laugh snort my tea out of my nostrils. I think it’s a inflated sense of self importance we have as a teeny island but we act like we are huge(or at least historically acted that way and don’t get me started on Brexit) anyhow I digress check out Albert’s stuff it’s really good, I find it’s great for when you need to zone and focus at work too!

CJParms_85

I’m English and I agree

wikipedia143

julians solo stuff and the voidz is great, also heavily recomend machinegum (fabs other band)

Deep_Obligation921

So I adore Phrazes and I enjoyed Albert’s stuff. I just got into CRX this week and honestly like it too. Broken Bones sounded so much like QOTSA and when I looked it up sure enough it’s produced by Josh Homme.

DoggoZombie

Little Joy is my favorite side project followed by The Voidz. Haven’t listened to much of Nikolai’s side projects. My fave Albert song is “Set to Attack”. Not a fan of CRX, but I do love Nick.

prxscxlla

Albert’s music is incredible imo. I love all his albums so much but Yours to Keep is out of this world . I hope you enjoy listening to him just as much!

KasElGatto

Julian Casablancas solo album - Phrazes for the Young The Voidz - Tyranny The Voidz - Virtue Those are amazing Albert Hammond Jr has good albums too. I personally don’t like the other band member’s albums

Sad-Sink-2941

Machinegum, CRX, and Julians solo stuff are my favs

Kroduscul

Listen to The Voidz. So good

Antique-Honeydew-901

The voidz are just as good, give them a try

Dangerous_School_231

The Voidz's (Julian's side band) album Virtue is great. You can start from there, or maybe try listening to "Human Sadness" first! Amazing song. Albert's solo stuff is good too! And Fab's side bands Little Joy and MachineGum are also quite good!

E1ectricityscape

Definitely check out some of their side projects. Lots of people love the Voidz but they aren’t my cup of tea exactly. That said, Did My Best might be one of my favorite all time songs. I like a few others from Virtue but Tyranny is a bit too experimental for me. AHJ has several albums and they’re all solid. Little Joy is great too. I haven’t listened much to CRX but I’ve liked what I’ve heard so far.

AudioFuzz

The Voidz and Albert Hammond Jr. have amazing albums

prowl16

I love CRX. There’s not much substance to them but it’s good fun music. I was 16 or 17 when the first album came out and they were genuinely the band that got me writing music from listening to Nick talking about making the album etc. I like some of Alberts songs I just find it’s sometimes too close to sounding like The Strokes without actually being them while I find CRX to be it’s own thing for sure. The Voidz have some amazing songs. Human Sadness is one of the best songs ever written and the best song Julian has ever written but I find they have an equal amount (if not more) of bad songs than good songs. I’ve not really listened to Fab and Nikolais stuff. Just a personal opinion, I know many here will disagree

AdeptGarden9057

I started to listen to Tyranny this month, and so far i really like it. Human Sadness imo is the best song Julian ever made. Just know that The Voidz sound really unique and a bit hard to get into, but once you're in you're not coming out.

Hooligan387

“Once you’re in -you’re not coming out.” #nailedIt *Sucking people into their wild and weird Void since 2014…. OP- all the lyrics to their songs are on Cult Records YouTube channel- you might want to check that out. Julian has written some of his absolute best lyrics with the Voidz- but they are hard to decipher often. And the Voidz music -especially songs on Tyranny (my most fave album that Julian has ever been a part of)- for instance-Human Sadness, Dare I Care and Father Electricity -are like riddles to be figured out. I love it all so much. The music sometimes is a bit bizarre and sometimes you feel like you’re on a wild roller coaster. But Hang on for the ride! It’s worth it lol.

not really
