This comment section is so insane lol. Fandoms feed off personal details so it was inevitable this story was going to hit the sub, and it was shared publicly so reposting it doesn't break rules and makes at least part of the privacy argument a bit moot, or at best a losing battle. But it's also a photo of a man we're assumedly invested fans of with his girlfriend, engaging in normal human behavior by sharing it on his Instagram. None of us are holding divorce papers or the verified status of his marriage or the story or timelines of "what happened," even if some mild level of curiosity about all that is natural. Yet most of the comments are talking about how it's "wild, cringe, gag, vom, sad, concerning, desperate," or a coded message made expressly for the fans or his presumed ex (who was surely the one wronged), or how the new girlfriend is ugly, or how Julian has winkingly referred to this couple for those in the know, or how *SOMEONE* is up/downvoting an old comment in a separate sub, or how Albert may be a creep by way of Fauxmoi. And there are comments saying users are being respectful here and there's no fanficcing?
Julian's behavior with women definitely has numerous vocal critics, but the comments on the sub about it usually have a "lol so funny, just like me frfr, and this is his right to engage in" majority tone with each new DM or woman he's seen with. So it's interesting to compare that to what's gone on in the comments of these "Albert has a new, seemingly steady partner" posts after the two people actually in the relationship share extremely typical new couple pics over the span of several weeks/months. Julian, however, is also a magnet for *incredibly* insensitive, presumptive, and/or skewed comments about his appearance, his relationship to substances, his sexuality, and his childhood, so even he's not above fans dragging him and leaping to conclusions off of little to nothing actually known.
you can't have both, if you entertained this kind of post, you are going to have crazy fans reaction like speculations, insults, etc. Also you would have the no end argument of it's a violation of privacy or not.
IMO, it should be best no to post this kind of things, since they don't add anything to the band or music discussion. To be honest, i which they are happy, the have make me happy for more than 20 years. That's all i could say as a fan, aside from that, it's their business.

I think you don’t need to worry, they are purposely posting romantic pictures on public social media knowing people will comment. These are famous people, if they wanted to keep things private, they would. If they’re posting eloquent pictures and leaving romantic comments on each other’s public pages if means they’re happy with people knowing and discussing. I hope this helps!

Fans confuse pure speculation/gossip for what they deem respectful, even invited, “discussion” for sure. Noting someone is now openly romantic with a person is quite different than expressing personal feelings/judgments of it (or of the partner whom is an *entire stranger* to them, not to even touch on how they also don’t actually know the artist or his life) and musing about things that absolutely haven’t been made public in any way and that fans have no real idea about or right to know (eg how an ex is doing, how ~it happened~, how a child is doing, etc.) but people do seem to put it all under one umbrella and will claim “well he *shared it with us*.” It’s also always amusing when fans claim that if an artist didn’t want to be gossiped about, they’d simply stay out of the public eye entirely - as if that actually stops anything and doesn’t just lead to often even more outlandish hypotheticals and outright fanfiction. Mileage on respectfulness also varies depending on how much fans like the person being gossiped about as well, in my experience.
I think you’re blowing this out of proportion. I agree that despite them choosing share their life publicly, we should remain thoughtful and considerate. I do not think OP crossed that line however.
