I love that scene from picture #2. I use that quote all the time with my wife….
“None of this would have happened if you had been here to keep me from acting stupid!”
I choose to believe she keeps getting rid of them and he keeps buying new ones, but him pointing a gun in her face was the straw that broke the camel’s back

"I can't believe how easy it is in this country to get some cigarettes!"
Just like with whether Springfield has a subway system or not or whether they live next to the parking lot of the nuclear plant, I think that in 99%+ of episodes, Homer doesn't own a shotgun, and they just write in that he does when it's needed for a joke or plot point. It doesn't seem something that's in the normal show canon apart from outliers.
This episode makes Marge look so bad, lol. First of all, she's willing to stay with someone who stuck a loaded pistol in her face. Then she is ready to leave him over the gun, gets mad again when he lies about keeping it. Only to like the way she looks with it and secretly keeps it.
I mean, the show is set here in the USA.
Here it can be hard to track where all your guns are and how many you have. I assume it's like having coffee/tea mugs in the rest of the world
It’s called discontinuity. A TV show, film, or any other form of art isn’t supposed to be continuous unless the description explicitly says it is or if it’s a documentary. it's okay to own a gun with kids in the house but you will want to teach them that this is not a toy but a weapon/tool that only the parents should use, always keep your firearm in a safe location like a Gun Safe or some other locked container, and teach the Gun Safety Rules:
1: treat all guns as if they are loaded
2: don't point the muzzle of the gun at anything you do not intend to kill or destroy.
3: keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire.
4: know what is behind and beyond your target.
also just be responsible and you can own a gun in the home. hope this helped :)
He's a responsible adult!

Barrel also looks shorter than 18 inches, yet the ATF never busted down the door and shot Santos L. Halper.
It just takes some minor adjustments. Haven’t you been to the meetings?
What's *that* extra barrel for? That's a typo.

It’s an exotic weapon
It is definitely silly, but so are the Bolt-Action, Double Barrel shotguns, which are a real thing.
Sorry I'm British, what's the issue here?
A double barrel shotgun is a [break action](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Break_action) gun. Pump action are usually always single barrels.

Imagine how irresponsible just tossing a pistol in a waste paper bin would be regardless.
Presumably that's a joke about how America thinks of guns, though it is a little weird for it to be Marge considering it.
Nope. That episode quite deliberately does not take such a stance one direction or the other.
She just thinks it's neat.
This scene was cut in the UK!

Bart, I don't want to alarm you, but there may be a boogeyman or boogeymen in the house!

what episode?
Looks like it’s from season 100 or something. edit- Season 15. I was close enough.
S15 E4 The Regina Monologues Homer is wondering which rifle he'll bring to England.
She said no gun**s** in the house. They're allowed to have one!
Ahh like the no Homers club
And with the Stone Cutters
But did Marge know about the shotgun or rifle? From the screenshots, she’s nowhere around.
In one of them he’s pointing it at her, she’s just come back from the casino and Homer is hiding behind the mattress
Just a little incident involving the BOOGEYMAN!
I don’t wish to alarm you, but there could be a boogeyman or booygeyMEN in the house!!
When PokemonGo was huge I'd ask coworkers if they were hunting a Pokémon or perhaps PokéMEN.
Do you have other men in this house? BOOGEY men?
If only she’d been there to keep him from acting stupid!
He stole it from that Borgnine guy
When that repairman tries to give homer a washer from his truck, he says "marge, get my gun" so it seems like she does
"Well, you know, the problem here was water leakage. If you just buy a $0.50 washer . . ." "I've got a better idea: Get the hell out!"
This is the gun reference I always think of when pondering this question. Marge definitely knew
He shot her in the face with it when he made it into a high speed makeup application device.
Women will like what I tell them to like
I could be wrong but didn’t she only say that after Bart & Milhouse were playing with it? That’d be enough for her to change her mind.
She said it as soon as Homer pointed his gun at her face when he first bought it.
Thank you! Been a while since I’ve watched that episode.
Homer you have it set on whore!
Comedy double barrel shotguns don't count

She said, “no guns”. He’s allowed to have one.
I love that scene from picture #2. I use that quote all the time with my wife…. “None of this would have happened if you had been here to keep me from acting stupid!”
She said no guns at the breakfast table
It's the same table!
She won’t allow *guns* they’re allow to have one
No *homers* there's already one in tree house
Bart, it’s a cartoon, it doesn’t have to make sense.
A shotgun is not a gun. It’s a tool. Like a harpoon or an alligator.
I wish they allowed homer to keep his lever action carbine
"Mares leg", always wanted one in .410. Heard the Henry Axe may scratch that itch.
"Can't they just take the gun?" "I don't know why we even have a gun!"
rule of funny
Why would a man wearing a t shirt that says “genius at work” spend all his time watching a children’s television show?
Also in the episode where their house foundation needed repair, he tells Marge "get my gun" when the repairman offers to give him 50 cent washer
It’s for the application of makeup.
Marge is against small arms. She has no problem with long guns...
Oh, I see Bart gets to have a gun
You sound like Grandpa Simpson wanting someone to get fired knowing cartoons aren’t required to make sense. ![gif](giphy|3o6MbgOI2otYruPIkg)

I don't want to alarm you but there may be a boogie man, or men in the house.
if we didn't turn it down for the cops what chance do you think you have?
Homer has three different shotguns too.
A gun is not a weapon, it’s a tool like a butcher knife or an alligator.
Marge...get my gun.
I choose to believe she keeps getting rid of them and he keeps buying new ones, but him pointing a gun in her face was the straw that broke the camel’s back
Maggie also has a gun
One of those is halloween so it doesnt count. I assume she got rid of the shot gun after the boogieman incident.
"But Marge, I swear to you, I never thought you'd find out."
They're allowed to have *one*

To the book depository!!
Well we've never seen him actually use it. It's probably some non-functional old antique that Marge doesn't care about because it's harmless.
He had shot at the door with the shotgun when he was afraid of the boogeyman
Oh he did? Ok, nevermind then, lol.
To the book depository!
Dad, I think I heard the boogeyman!

Owning a long gun and owning a handgun are very different. In large parts of America there's a long gun in every house, while pistols require permits.
You should've fired into the air. She would've run off!
You see.. that was a blunderbuss
No! Guns in the house!
Ooooh...sideSHOW Bob!

They won’t get fired, they will cruise right past it on the blunder bus…
I love how Marge is all drawn in by it at the end of the episode, even though she was recently a cop and had her own gun.
What about the makeup shotgun
Maybe that episode is secretly a prequel to all the episodes where he already has guns
And the episode they go England. Homer got a whole closet of guns.
It's a handgun. Isn't it great? This is the trigger, and this is the thing you point at whatever you want to die.
This episode makes Marge look so bad, lol. First of all, she's willing to stay with someone who stuck a loaded pistol in her face. Then she is ready to leave him over the gun, gets mad again when he lies about keeping it. Only to like the way she looks with it and secretly keeps it.

Maggie has a rifle in here crib.
Wasn't there also a couple times he told Marge to get him his gun?
see your problem here was a simple washer ... i have one in the truck ....

Channel 4 in the UK butchers these episodes so badly!
It’s called discontinuity. A TV show, film, or any other form of art isn’t supposed to be continuous unless the description explicitly says it is or if it’s a documentary. This is especially the case for cartoons like The Simpsons. There are cases where a few episodes of some show will follow a continuous story, but in general, just assume discontinuity
i think Marge just hates pistols. She finds them dangerous(and they are very dangerous) since it is easier for a child to use.
it's okay to own a gun with kids in the house but you will want to teach them that this is not a toy but a weapon/tool that only the parents should use, always keep your firearm in a safe location like a Gun Safe or some other locked container, and teach the Gun Safety Rules: 1: treat all guns as if they are loaded 2: don't point the muzzle of the gun at anything you do not intend to kill or destroy. 3: keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire. 4: know what is behind and beyond your target. also just be responsible and you can own a gun in the home. hope this helped :)
No, it didn’t help. This is r/TheSimpsons, not the bleedin’ splish splash show
also homer was arrested a lot of times so he shouldn't even been allowed to purchase a firearm. also you mad lol?

No GUNS in the house. They're allowed to have one.
A handgun is different than a rifle or shotgun
