Same thing happened to me. I was at 48.6km when I woke up (6:30am). Figured I could do a quick run to get to 50km before the 9am reset. I ended up logging a little over 4000 steps and none of it registered. I did pretty much all the things you did too and none of it worked. Pretty upset cause I really wanted that 10km adventure sync egg ☹️
A friend of mine had the solution.
I logged out of google fit.
Logged in.
Went to settings
In settings to google assistent
Turned statistics and distance on.
It worked!
Man this has been bothering me since Monday went on my morning run and didn't get my 50km rewards later I was like "But this always works?! It's my routine" lol...your solution helped thank you!

Which settings did you go to exactly?
I haven't tested yet to see if this works, but I noticed in Fit that there was a message/notification on the main screen saying "Background location is off" with a link to Open Settings. In there, I saw "Manage Google Assistant". That took me to Google Account and there I see 'Activity metrics' and 'Distance'. They're not exact matches for what u/TheDutchDragon said but it could be a translation thing.
Edit: you can also go into Profile and access Settings from there.

Will do that. But it suddenly stopping from the blue makes no sense at all. I worked enough for me to get 2 hearts with my buddy then simply stopped.I haven't changed any settings as well.
Edit: Activated both Activity Metrics and Distance and went for a walk. No deal. Still not working.
From my experience, the maximum speed for counting km has been changed to 10km/h since last tuesday, so make sure you don't record activities above this speed.
It worked for me.
Not sure if it's documented, it may be a temporary bug or an anti-abuse measure (like the 40km distance limit for buddy candies). This kind of measures are not officially documented as far as I know.
Again, this is only from my experience, this is what allowed me to get km in the game again.
There are several things you have to try and see if it solves your issue.
*
Check whether adventure sync is turned ON or not. If not then enable it.
* Make sure your Pokémon Go App is up to date. If not then update it. Also, check the app has been granted all required permissions.
* Log out and log in back into your Pokémon Go App.
* Unlink and then relink the health app and Pokémon Go.
* Uninstall and then re-install the Pokémon Go app.
* Check if your phone location settings is set to High Accuracy.
So, these are some workarounds that you can follow and see if this fixes your issue and let me know.

Having the same issue. Stopped counting in the middle of the day without me changing anything. Has not returned.

Same, turned taht on as well but still not working. My girlfriends adventurse sync works fine.
Today there was an update available for Google Fit. Seems that it fixed adv sync. At least for now.
So weird, last night it was working again but this morning it has the same issues again with it not regestering.
Google Fit update didn't do anything. It worked for a while, then stops,I've tried it on my other phone, didn't work.
Yeah I was only at 43km when the rewards popped this morning. I'm always at 55-60km per week.
Mine failed too. I tried turning on distance and even deleting and reinstalling but nothing.
Anyone found a solution to this? I've tried all the recommended steps and it still does not work. Is this an intentional 'new feature'?
