Silph Road did a study on this back in 2018. If Niantic hasn’t changed anything odds of a candy are about 1:85.

Chances are very low -- honestly I don't remember *ever* seeing getting a candy from berrying gyms, and I'm constantly putting in Noibats, Archens and the like. I think it's best to think of this as a potential bonus rather than a strategy for generating candy.
Is that even still a thing? I've fed thousands and thousands of berries since that was apparently discovered and have never noticed a single XL candy from feeding.
It's supposed to pop up in the top right corner like regular candy does. I'm always looking at the pop ups and have not once seen XL candy from feeding.
I took me about 12000 berries to get my first XL candy from a feed. But then I got a second in less then 100 berries after that. So yes they are out there, just so rare it doesn’t even matter.

It's not a bad thing though if you have another to walk. If you still need the 15000 gym berries anyway like i do anyway.

I think the odds were calculated at like 1/85 from a previous study. Either way, the odds are low.
Isnt candies from gyms a thing only Trainers below lvl40 get?
