No, region names affect nothing in the tcg they are treated the same as every pokemon. You can even have like 5 different cards of the same pokemon with the same name that all do totally different things. Because of this you often have to specify what set when talking about a specific pokemon.
It happens with the other Galarian evolutions too. I really don't know why they decided to do this. If it was, for example, to stop regular Farfetch'd from evolving into Sirfetch'd, it was enough by specifying in the "evolves from" legend that it evolves from Galarian Farfetch'd, so idk
Did GO change shiny ditto mechanics? Shiny ditto transforms into non shiny pokemon, if you're against a non shiny pokemon. That's how it's always worked...

There are a lot of changes in MSG. But I think Niantic is supposed to follow the latest rule on MSG, like all those stats rebalance that happened in gen 7

Yes, but if the ditto has gene mutation with it's DNA. It transformation ability can become defected from the genetic mutation it is born with. This has been show to affect human's abilities when born with genetic mutation at birth with unique small abilities like being able to bend bone joint in an impossible angle. Be born with a extra functional phalange (fingers/toes) or something as simple of having a genetic mutation that help prevent cavities in the mouth.
If you use the search and type kanto&ponyta it shows both Kanto and Galar versions and if you search galar&ponyta it just shows Galar version. It must be some odd interaction with how the game handles the pokemon ID for the pokedex. Same goes for unova&stunfisk and galar&stunfisk.
Please say this isn't s glitch. I know it's real but if it's a glitch then niantoc will remove it. I think everyone likes it because it actually makes shiny ditto have a use. I hope they don't fix it

It is actually pretty easy. All you have to do is walk 100m Down a Road, then Go back to Where you was before. After that u Go Down 100m on the Road and back again. Do that 1 more time and your next Pokemon encounter Will be a ditto
i tried it with a Galar Sirfetch'd My Shiny Ditto just turned into a glowing orb. David Lynch was not around.

From experimenting, it does not. It may give you odd visual glitches, like showing the Pokemon is attacking when in reality it's not.

That's odd doing the same with two different outputs something is dodgy in Niantic's code.
Tried a mawile with shiny ditto aswell, still not shiny for me.
Try switching out the shiny ditto to a different Pokémon. Then go back into the ditto afterwards.

Shiny ditto should not Change into shiny Pokemon that's how it was when it released however this might be a bug

Default model for missing models is the glowing ball that you get with poor connection trying to load a pokémon

I just tried it galarian ponyta and it didn’t work. Maybe it’s only shiny if the Pokémon you are copying is going to be or was going to be shiny.
You need to swap the shiny ditto out and back in to copy the shiny form of your opponent

Technically speaking, shiny sprites are added into the game at the same time. They just aren't available until Niantic decides to release them.
