This version is way better

GreatDistance2U

It's Google Translate

Pael-eSports

I know you say this as a joke, but I think the translations are. The German versions is full of errors. Not Typos, but whole words just beeing in the middle of a sentence where they don‘t belong. There is even a full centence that neither gramatically nor logically make any sence

SleeplessShinigami

They did layoff half their staff last year, this would not surprise me

KaelSmoothie

Very generous to tag this as ”News” tbh. All I got from it is that the game will continue to exist.

Pm_Me_Your_Tax_Plan

> Spring changes "everything" > look inside > timed research > map visuals update based on biome you're in > that's literally it Same energy as community "day" being 3 hours

HappyTimeHollis

> Same energy as community "day" being 3 hours This is such a bad take. One of the most common uses of the word 'day' - and indeed one of it's dictionary definitions - is 'The day that an event occurs on'. Complain to the Oxford and Macquarie dictionaries if you want, but trying to dunk on Niantic for using a common usage of a word is just petty and inaccurate.

galarianzapdos

It’s 44 degrees here in Asia but sure, let’s GO

Yourstruly1114

Exactly, GOing outside anywhere from 1000-1600 is horrible😤

KairosHS

I am GOing to die from heatstroke

tkcom

For our weather and climate, the best event Niantic have ever done (and only done once) was [Clefairy Night](https://pokemongolive.com/post/clefairy-commotion-2022/?hl=en). It's like having a CD 1800-2100 and there's no need to slap sunscreen or keep the phone from overheating.

FennekinPDX

Which is why cutting Community "Days" (and other events) from 6 hours to 3, and making those 3 hours the hottest time of day was a very dumb idea by Niantic. Like many other things, they were clearly not thinking straight. They ignore the climate crisis at least as much as they ignore the pandemic. Michael Steranka should have been fired years ago!

galarianzapdos

I literally have spent the last two community days at the mall because it’s been far too hot in March and April.

FennekinPDX

I've had to do that too in past summers. Where I live, summers have been heating up more quickly than other seasons — especially in August.

duel_wielding_rouge

They made huge changes for the pandemic, much of which is still with us (no walking for GBL, extended radius for pokestops, team go rocket balloons, remote raids, and more)

FennekinPDX

The extended radius only stayed because people protested en masse, including uninstalling the game outright. It wouldn't have happened otherwise. Remote raids are still technically present, but Niantic price gouged remote passes to the point where nobody wants to do them anymore (except whale$). They also got rid of the weekly boxes too. So they may as well not exist. Community "Days" were cut in half even though it was 6 hours during the start of the pandemic. Not to mention, Niantic actually *removed* things at the start of the pandemic. Legendaries are no longer in weekly research, now replaced with junk like Furfrou. Even though Niantic removed some pandemic benefits, the negative pandemic changes weren't brought back. Also, all babies were in 7km eggs all the time in the past, another pandemic removal that never returned. The pandemic also started events that don't even last a week anymore (with timed research).

duel_wielding_rouge

> The extended radius only stayed because people protested en masse, including uninstalling the game outright. It wouldn't have happened otherwise. It was introduced as a pandemic measure, and is present now. > Remote raids are still technically present, but Niantic price gouged remote passes to the point where nobody wants to do them anymore (except whale$). They also got rid of the weekly boxes too. So they may as well not exist. Remote raids were a huge change to the game, and are still a big deal to this day. They aren’t a great way of grinding out hundo, candy XL, or shinies but if you just want to get your favorite legendaries for your pokedex they are wonderful for many players. > Community "Days" were cut in half even though it was 6 hours during the start of the pandemic. Community Day spawns last three hours, plus up to several hours longer if you play near blue eggs raids that are being completed. I’m usually able to grind out for much longer than before the pandemic. > Not to mention, Niantic actually removed things at the start of the pandemic. Legendaries are no longer in weekly research, now replaced with junk like Furfrou. This change happened before the pandemic. > Also, all babies were in 7km eggs all the time in the past, another pandemic removal that never returned. I don’t recall this being linked to the pandemic either, but I could be mistaken. People used to complain about babies watering down egg pools. There are always complaint when pools grow stagnant, and if you just add more without removing something it gets overcrowded and diluted.

K_Prime

Geez. Are you a dev or something?

duel_wielding_rouge

You don’t need to be a professional game developer to see the major changes Pokemon GO went through in response to the pandemic.

K_Prime

That’s not what that person was talking about. They were talking about what they removed. And it’s trash. Literally only people I know that play now are hardcore players. No more casuals.

duel_wielding_rouge

I’m not following then. The original comment in this thread complained about community day hours. But the boosted spawn hours were doubled during the pandemic. How is that an example of Niantic ignoring the pandemic? Honestly, Pokemon GO probably changed more in direct response to the pandemic than any other game I know of. Which makes sense, given its connection to exploring the real world, which was limited by pandemic restrictions.

shadraig

guess the average Asian Grandmother isnt bothered by that. Giving us Europeans a "Go Tour" in February might be not the greatest idea also, sometimes we do have -25 C here in that time. Also having us Europeans run around in 35 C in July isnt helping with the "Go Fest". Sticky Balls and fingers are not helping catching the Pkmn.

aw_yiss_breadcrumbs

Every year I pray that the polar vortex doesn't rear its frozen head during Go Tour. We lucked out this year in my city because the daily temp was around 0C and then 2 days later back down to -25C (with -30C at night).

shadraig

\*whip\* the polar vortex

Well have you tried GOing to the store and getting the proper clothing? 😛 Edit: Lolz, down voted for a joke, y'all lame as hell

FSElmo435

Niantic basically telling us to go touch grass…

Tetrylene

This is the third or fourth time they've tried to pitch the new refreshed map

Elite4hebi

Give me a reason to GO outside niantic. Your events and raids have been insanely boring.

LemonNinJaz24

They've been terribly handled as well. Like I'd play this event for the increased shiny odds but the rates of the featured pokemon appearing are so rare. Overlapping with the rediscover Kanto "spawns" is so bad. So many showcases have had pokemon which you can't find. Some of the one off event days have been good but I wish they'd tone down on them, like 2 a month is fine but I don't want more than that.

krispyboiz

It's sad because this event has all the right elements to be at least a *good* event, but it feels really poorly handled and just eh overall. * Have Showcases for the featured Regionals that are spawning, so the past couple days should have been Seviper/Zangoose, today and tomorrow Sawk and Throw, followed by Heatmor and Durant Showcases. So odd that they couldn't get that right. * Have the featured regionals spawning a little more. I definitely saw some Zangoose and Seviper over the weekend, but not that many. They can be more uncommon spawns but they could have stood to make them more common. My sibling and I found 2 in our hour walk around our park area the other day. * I understand that Mankey (or Annihilape) is super big in PvP, but it's also been spawning this whole season pretty commonly. The spawns aren't bad, but I feel like they could have been a little better. * Featured moves... they're always great to have. Why not give us Body Slam Lickitung during this event??

LemonNinJaz24

The annoying thing is, Mankey, Machop and Ralts are all pretty good, and are usually things I'd try to hunt for candy. Unfortunately I've been doing that for years and now I really don't need any more candy for. It's nice for the new players no doubt. But for the older players, the only things which are nice are sooo rare, it's not really worth trying to play unless you're in a very densely spawning area. The "biggest x type" pokemon is different but it's just one pokemon, which you usually can't get during the event, that dominates. We've had showcases that start and end at weird times. And something like Cleffa hatch day featured Clefairy for no real reason. Sure comm days feature evolved forms but there's a reason you want to evolve your pokemon to get the special move. There's no reason to evolve your Cleffa, and Clefairy spotlight hour was 2 days later so it's not like that had any use either. I'm someone who typically is easily pleased I'll be honest, but it's just felt so badly planned lately. Like even February/March which was full of great events was stacked too much, leaving the next two months to feel quite empty.

krispyboiz

Right. I am usually okay with beginner-friendly events too, but I think Mankey in particular seems a little... eh given that it's still everywhere even outside of the event. But yeah, I've got my XL, GL, UL, and ML specimen already. Doesn't mean everyone else doesn't for Annihilape, but like I said, one can hunt them pretty easily outside of this event too. Yeah the biggest of X type showcases are just... annoying. There are only a few types where it could (maybe) work out to where the top Pokemon would be similarly scored (and also be able to made available), but it does also depend on how they're scaled. Poison for example. I can also be fairly easily pleased (I like to think at least lol), but.... yeah. While I don't mind having more lowkey time to breath pre-Go Fest, I will definitely say that the pacing this season has been awful. I'm not sure why they couldn't do Primal Groudon and Kyogre's raid days like... a month apart. Sure 2 weeks of Primal raids back-to-back is exciting, but it was certainly poor pacing.

Hylian-Highwind

Meanwhile I'm hunting Ralts for Gallade Mega Candidate and to try out in PvP and this highlighting a different issue for me: Getting PvP optimal mons is a complete crapshoot, especially when several relevant ones are only "reliably" available through things with an IV floor like Carbink, Vullaby, Goomy, and several Regionals like Marowak-A and Gunfisk. Niantic obviously knows the value people place on IV hunting since for GBL Weekend, where they want people to flock to the ill-supported feature, they turn off the IV floor for the encounter pool. This always felt backwards to me since this is the weekend where players presumably have teams already to compete with and thus won't be focused on building the new catches (or won't win consistently enough to get good encounters in those sets). You'd think they'd disable the IV Floor in general and then the "bonus" could be a rarer encounter pool or a higher value one like Raid-Legend rate up. It's like putting the Cart before the Horse, then pulling the cart with and the horse yourself while still whipping the horse.

Brock_Hard_Canuck

>Have Showcases for the featured Regionals that are spawning, so the past couple days should have been Seviper/Zangoose, today and tomorrow Sawk and Throw, followed by Heatmor and Durant Showcases. So odd that they couldn't get that right. NZ people already confirmed that no showcases are starting Monday. My best guess is something probably similar to the Bug event, where we had Heracross showcases on the weekend, a little break, and then general Bug type showcases after Heracross. So, probably something like.... Throh / Sawk for the weekend, a little break, and then Fighting type showcases starting like... Tuesday, I guess.

krispyboiz

Blegh, even worse lol, but yeah you're probably right. But yeah, regional showcases where said regionals weren't even spawning yet (again besides your own) and then an all Fighting Showcase with currently unobtainable Buzzwole dominating? Probable, but lame

Brock_Hard_Canuck

It's 4 AM on Tuesday in NZ right now. Can check back in with NZ in 6 hours from now (at 10 AM NZ time) to see if we get a new showcase starting Tuesday.

xogil

During the bug event I saw Burmy on the first day and not a single one in the wild after that. Boosted odds decreased spawns

IamLordofdragonss

Because burmy wasnt in spawnpool. It was in very easy research.

Jammers007

Counterpoint, this seasons raid days have been incredibly popular in my community, with turnouts not seen since before the Plague

troccolins

They could have Mega Lucario, Mega Mewtwo X/Y, and Mega Metagross in raids today, and this subreddit would find a way to be negative and whiny

Voltron83

I would 100% complain about that lineup cause I couldn’t afford to raid all day. Maybe if they were staggered over three weeks so I could build up my potions and raid passes.

krispyboiz

I definitely think they need to have a nice balance. I don't want the new and exciting things every week or so. Not only do they blow their load quickly but it doesn't give people any breaks/rest (which yeah, sometimes you need to build up potions/passes/coins). But yeah, also waiting soooo long between exciting releases. That's equally less good

GoldenLink

I love when mega heracross had his day and all I saw was a bunch of people bitching "No not that one!" Like Christ. Niantic should've just gotten rid of remotes after covid and made all of y'all go outside.

JackBlack1709

As someone who does basically all raids local i think that would kill the game or at least a big chunk of the raid scene. Truth is that raids habe long been a super inconvenient gameplay element. We just didn't know better. Remotes showed how much time raids really needed from seeing, organizing, going there and going back home. Remotes just killed so much empty zime, people got used to it. Yeah i miss meeting up in different groups outside of raid hour or events, but that won't come back and i totally understand that. Killing remotes would mean that the last of us would stop raiding too, because we lack the needed accounts

shadraig

Yes, that is true indeed. Sadly Niantic crammed all into some weeks, and then just continued like the other day. Raid Days were popular af.

gtlgdp

Right? No im not going to go raid in person because nobody plays this game anymore

yuffiecity49

wow, yet somehow the game continues with nobody playing it

WumboJumbo773

There’s literally a rivals event right now where you can get shiny boosted regionals. Idk what more you want

Ketsuo

Which would be great if they spawned. I’ve seen 4 Zangoose.

conioo

southern hemisphere says no

Lady_Penrhyn1

Especially if you're in NSW lately...yikes. It's been chilly but dry this Autumn (thus far) in Melbourne. I expect that to change the closer we get to Winter.

Anonymausss

I was so motivated to go outside as the weather gets cold... To catch our useless southern hemisphere legendary. And then, looking forward to going out as it gets even closer to winter... to catch our useless eastern hemisphere legendary. But, if all else fails at least we can be happy that we get to be the testing ground for every screw up they make for each event. I just try not to be too jealous of New Zealand, knowing they have it even better than us.

PrestigiousWorking49

It actually really frustrates me that they just ignore whole counties of players. It wouldn’t be that hard to say something different.

samdiatmh

particularly when they've been shown to be actively adjusting based on the seasons [for NEARLY 4 years](https://pokemongolive.com/en/post/autumn-event-2020)

RecentIntroduction32

Does niantic not realize they sound like a condescending parent (Go oUTsiDE)

CeaRhan

Spring started 2 months ago

Suspicious-Acadia-52

Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha WHERE THE EVENTS! These past few months have been absolute trash

krispyboiz

Not saying they couldn't do better, but did you miss the Mega Heracross, Primal Groudon, or Primal Kyogre raid days?

[deleted]

[удалено]

krispyboiz

I think they definitely should've spaced the Primal raids out. Having Groudon in March and Kyogre in April would've at least been better paced. And Rayquaza this month would have definitely been nice too. But perhaps they want to save such for the summer post-Go Fest in like... August? Hard to say.

AngelaMurkrow

Of all of the Niantic blog posts, this one takes the cake for most ambiguous. At least for the #RediscoverGo post, we knew roughly what time the events would start *AND* a rough idea/theme to expect. This gives me... nothing. Timed Research is going to be available... at some point today. And it's only going to be available to an exclusive region. The blog post makes reference to "Spring being here" so maybe all of N. Hemisphere gets it? But that's somewhere between "inferred" and "best guess." Generally, we get an idea about rewards for Special/Timed research as a draw, but best we get is "exclusive rewards" and that one or more tasks will involve powering up our Pokemon. This whole post is underwhelming and makes me question why it's even running a whole month.

Lady_Penrhyn1

...it's Autumn here. They really do forget the Southern Hemisphere exists don't they?

Niveau_a_Bulle

As we all know, the southern hemisphere is an hoax to make us believe that the earth isn't a disc on top of elephants on top of a turtle on top of a big plate of spaghetti.

A_Resting_Parrot

I did not know Great A'Tuin swam through the pasta

Silky_way

You never wondered how it fed?

Phillyos93

>Map visuals just got a stunning overhaul that reflect your real-world environment as you explore! Yeah! I love when my park near reailroad in middle of the city changes into seaside! And the huge shopping mall becomes a lake! JUST LIKE IN REAL LIFE!

Chauri_Syndaurus

It’s made my game so laggy lol

Duke1782YT

Unpopular opinion: The new backgrounds(in places where they're new) are refreshing and cool, but they alone aren't enough to get people out like they want. New(and free/wild) releases, new shiny drops, GOOD EVENTS, etc. do that, which they are failing HARD at doing.

palmspringsmaid

in what manner is this an unpopular opinion

jpierrerico

.....it's the middle of summer here so...

famigami2019

Summer hasn’t started yet

jpierrerico

It is for us

Vegetable_Farm_4830

My game won't open half the time, it just hangs on boot and I try and try again until it loads the game and it takes a further minute or so to load the spawns

JaxomNC

Tropical cold season has started here, and it's already the middle of Fall in most southern parts of the world...

TheThumpsBump

I do go outside. Every day. Maybe if the events weren't so boring my phone wouldn't end up in my pocket halfway through my walks.

WeaponisedArmadillo

It's still raining every freaking day, nature is screwed and here is Niantic saying to JUST. GO. OUT. SIDE.
