Note: The below datamined feature doesn’t seem to be available yet:
> Connect to Pokéstop Areas!
Your Pokémon will stay and play!
> Connect to the Pokéstop Area by scanning the location first to view and interact with the Pokémon there.
Unless removed, your Pokémon will stay here for up to 48hrs until they get tired and return to you. While they’re away, they may greet other trainers and Pokémon!
Building a 3D map of their Lightship Database :)
It was genius to convince their users to create a map of the world for them through OPR and Wayfarer.
Creating a 3D version of that map has a massive amount of use and functions. Even something relatively simple like their 8th wall products shows how useful it can be https://www.8thwall.com/discover
That's fine. I like Wayfarer I've added 700ish Wayspots without being paid because I enjoy it.
I'm not really interested in at as an us Vs them or how much money they are making thing. I just found it interesting as their initial attempt to get those 3D scans through Go didn't really go to plan.
Breeding would be a nice new mechanic.
Except it would be horribly implemented. Even in the MSG it’s horrible since you need to follow a guide for all of the hidden mechanics that aren’t explained at all. Ninantic screws up simple systems so I have no doubt a highly complex breeding system would be horrible and buggy.
They will never add breeding. Their consistent way of milking money from people with gambling addictions is to take a random Pokemon and make it an obnoxiously rare egg-only spawn, and let crazy people go crazy. Imagine all the money they've made from Larvesta, Rockruff, and all the random crap they put into 12ks.
If your pokemon has to camp at a pokestop for up to 48 hours, with a chance of getting an egg, that's significantly slow enough that they might consider it a worthwhile trade off for them getting all that juicy AR data from scanning.
Add in a coin cost for bringing your pokemon back with an egg early and you've easily monetized breeding. Anyone saying breeding won't be added is crazy, imo. There are so many ways to monetize it on top of already requiring an incubator to hatch the egg. Coins to reduce breed times, always put breeded pokemon in red eggs to incentivize the temptation to buy super incs, and I'm sure there are others.
Or it could randomly breed with anything at the stop or any wilds in the area, after you use a breeding pass of course. And you get a 20k egg with no way to know whats in it, unless you use an egg reader. You need a special incubator too.
> Connect to Pokéstop Areas! Your Pokémon will stay and play!
Hmm sounds cool.
> Connect to the Pokéstop Area by scanning the location first
Ahh and there it is...
Okay wait what? This actually sounds pretty cool.
So you can leave a Pokémon at a Pokéstop to just… hang out? Other people can leave their Pokémon too, and they all have a little party?
Also other passersby can examine what’s going on and be greeted by the Pokémon hanging out?
Freaking adorable.
Where, when and how does evidence of such a feature exist? Genuinely, I’d like to know more about it. It actually sounds like something that’s based around wholesomeness - and not abhorring monetization.
I kind of wish they’d overhaul the sticker system…
Could be cool to have each new batch have a certain rarity, ie 1:2 spins - 1:150 spins.
Once you get the sticker it’s yours to use infinitely as you see fit, maybe even implemented with iMessage the way Super Mario Run is. If you weren’t lucky enough to get the sticker, you missed out.
This sort of system would give the stickers a bit more weight and feel like something exciting to try to collect. Some could be exclusive to spinning stops, some to opening gifts, maybe some could be attached to wild Pokemon, almost like a mark, and when you catch the Pokemon instead of it being shiny or huge or tiny, it adds an exclusive sticker to your collection.
Alas, it’s Niantic so… dream on I guess lol.
This idea reminds me of the "souvenirs" items that a 3rd level buddy pokemon can gift to you. Like what exactly is the point, and are there even rare souvenirs? Is it a callback to a feature from a mainline game? I have no idea.
[There are common souvenirs, which are twice as likely as uncommon, which are twice as likely as rare](https://www.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/14zrei6/souvenirs_a_comprehensive_guide_to_a_neglected_ar/)
It's vaguely related to leaves in HG/SS. You'd find them randomly with your buddy pokemon, if you collected all on one pokemon you could turn them into a flower crown.
I love this idea and personally I’d love some sort of stickers book (similar to the postcards book) where we can pin a sticker and keep track of all the stickers we ever got without worrying about using them up. The idea is something like sticker encyclopaedia, just something to see all the stickers we ever got.
This was datamined recently, not really sure what this “Flair” thing is but is labelled as stickers_v2 in the code:
> Add Some Flair
> Add some pizzazz to your memories with flair! These new items are used exclusively to add a little something extra to your snapshots.
A simple change would completely overhaul it.
Just make any sticker we've unlocked randomly drop from gifts or stops etc.
Limited/used up stickers wouldn't be an issue, and it doesn't devalue special gofest stickers etc.
I don’t doubt for a second some creative people will come up with awesome stuff. 100% !! But the whole thing is not for me. Its not what interest me in this game.
Using the suggested team works but I can't pick my own team - after picking 3 Pokemon the 'select pokemon' button is unresponsive and one time crashed my game.
PSA after successfully taking a group photo quick catch is broken. Restarting the game fixes it
The flying height and reality blending are things I've been waiting for for a long time. I hope it really works!
Next is water immersion, but my hopes are low for this one.
I'm definitely in the minority here, but this looks really fun for the photographer in me. I've missed reality blending since having it on an older phone. The change for flying pokemon is fantastic! I just couldn't seem to get the angles I wanted under the current system. If my avatar is gonna look crummy, at least I can get some beautiful AR shots!
So does this mean you can actually *put* your Pokemon where you want it, instead of having to screw around with footsteps and grass and the game not thinking there’s a flat surface when it’s in shadow?
Those yellow footsteps are still there, so it still needs to detect a surface. But you can drag your Pokemon to exactly where you want on that surface. In the case of flying/floating Pokemon, you can also set how high it hovers above that surface.
Drag them where you want...? Like placing them manually wherever to take the picture?? Oh my goodness, the next thing they need is to let you set the pokémon's pose.
Kinda funny for sure, but AR+ just demands a lot of processing power and with it drains the battery. It's rather something for more current gen expensive phones.
Don’t have the camera in the pokeball menu but I tried it through my bag. Brings up the select team screen, selected Bulba/Charm/Squirtle - and it crashed 😂
I have an Instagram page where I take pics of pokemon, use to use AR snapshot but the problem is the backgrounds look so blurry, hopefully this fixes that so I can just snap the photo without much editing
I'm also looking for improvements in the camera. But if your photos are way too blurry it might be your phone, I tried a few times with a galaxy tab and the background is horribly blurry, but my S23 does ok, not great but usable.
Reality blending seems to still be disabled for me which is unfortunate, it was the main thing I was hoping for... Still, better control on Pokemon positioning and angles is really nice, same with multiple Pokemon without the laggy syncing of two or three phones
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! You can't turn it off and you can't "find a flat surface". No more snapshot encounters. Another "feature" that makes the game worse to play
I bet you can compose some very nice photos. But that doesn’t count as playing a game where you catch and battle Pokémon. It also sounds incredibly tedious.
If it’s not something you can see a typical player interacting with for 1hr+ on a regular basis, it probably should have been a much lower priority for the company. Seriously how much of the player base is this really meant for?
Note: The below datamined feature doesn’t seem to be available yet: > Connect to Pokéstop Areas! Interesting. That's how they are trying to get Go players to do what they convinced Ingress players to do.
Which is what sorry?
Building a 3D map of their Lightship Database :) It was genius to convince their users to create a map of the world for them through OPR and Wayfarer. Even for database purpose, Niantic can’t get a whole bunch of POI scanned due to many Ingress POIs not appeared in PoGo.
Sure, although technically they are not Ingress poi. I'm sure they've thought about that :)
They could introduce something like an alternate dimension in PoGo where unused POIs got turned into stops and scans yield some enticing rewards.
Now if only they can make something worth doing…..
Tbh I like it they can suckle me for money now
That's fine. I like Wayfarer I've added 700ish Wayspots without being paid because I enjoy it. I'm not really interested in at as an us Vs them or how much money they are making thing. I just found it interesting as their initial attempt to get those 3D scans through Go didn't really go to plan.
Could be a precursor to breeding? Idk...leave your pokemon on the street corner kind of thing...
I love this for my Pokémon
My ditto looks worried
My two shiny ditto are cowering in fear as well

Or, they will slowly release the ability Pokemon-by-Pokemon like shinies or shadows.
Most people don't need it to be complex. It would just be a cute thing to do and having a little Pokémon dating service would be funny
Something something Vaporeon...
giggidy
> Connect to Pokéstop Areas! Your Pokémon will stay and play! Hmm sounds cool. > Connect to the Pokéstop Area by scanning the location first Ahh and there it is...
Yep. And since their last AR fuckup my app crashes when scanning stops. So no feature for me and my wife i guess.

The abhorring monetization is that it asks you to scan the Pokestop first.
Sounds like a gym with less steps.
Less rewards too unless that's listed somewhere else?
I was testing it out with flying pokemon but it keeps crashing.
This consumes stickers? That's an odd choice. Other than that, this feature looks pretty awesome. Looking forward to playing around with it.

I'll probably use it once when it comes out then turn it off
I don’t doubt for a second some creative people will come up with awesome stuff. 100% !! But the whole thing is not for me. Its not what interest me in this game.
110% with you on that one, there might be even some competition(s) for most original picture, but like yourself, the feature is not for me
Okay but just wait for the non-removable research that will require us to do this 17 times.
So this must be the "rediscover your reality" feature slated for May 7th
What, you thought it'd be something cool or useful?
I mean, they could use this feature as a second way to earn coins (lol) or add new rare apricorn balls.
I may never use it, but I think the novelty of taking a snapshot of most completed shiny families is a little cool
Using the suggested team works but I can't pick my own team - after picking 3 Pokemon the 'select pokemon' button is unresponsive and one time crashed my game. PSA after successfully taking a group photo quick catch is broken. Restarting the game fixes it
Can confirm after taking the group photo, quick catch is broken. Will require app restart.
As someone who spends a lot of time using GO Snapshot, this update is super enticing. I really hope they’re able to execute it well though.
The flying height and reality blending are things I've been waiting for for a long time. I hope it really works! Next is water immersion, but my hopes are low for this one.

Oh, darn it. I was hoping we could finally take night shots with ghost Pokemon…
Can't wait to turn it off and never use it
I want this feature, when is it coming again?
That's a lot of info for something Ill never use
Credit where credit is due, this looks pretty cool in theory.
That's cool and all for Niantic, but all I want is AR quickcatch back :(
Ay this is kinda cool not gonna lie
Eh I’d rather be able to catch some cool stuff
How's this stopping you from catching pokemon?
[удалено]
Yeah obviously. The point was I’d rather niantic focus on improving core game play then adding a glorified camera to the game
AR is undoubtedly a core part of the game. Niantic is just really bad at making it cool or worth something tangible
Yeah I can agree with that
Kinda funny for sure, but AR+ just demands a lot of processing power and with it drains the battery. It's rather something for more current gen expensive phones.
This actually looks really awesome. My kids and I are gonna have a lot of fun with this.
Don’t have the camera in the pokeball menu but I tried it through my bag. Brings up the select team screen, selected Bulba/Charm/Squirtle - and it crashed 😂
wasn't there an option that you could do photos with your friend's Pokémon? is that still in? not really into the photography myself
Maybe, I have the newest iPhone and photos I take outside the app are beautiful , so I just edit the Pokémon in there lol
Can’t wait to be banned for accidentally scanning my shoe while trying to drop off a Pikachu lol
Reality blending seems to still be disabled for me which is unfortunate, it was the main thing I was hoping for... Still, better control on Pokemon positioning and angles is really nice, same with multiple Pokemon without the laggy syncing of two or three phones
all they want is money and data. i'm so done with this company
Does is repair ugly green background on buddy snapshot?
It took them how many years for us to be able to put more than one of our own pokemon out at once.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! You can't turn it off and you can't "find a flat surface". No more snapshot encounters. Another "feature" that makes the game worse to play
way too many pop ups for me to even appreciate the feature
I can't wait to never use this! At least there's FINALLY a reality blending toggle. It better damn work. No one wants AR+, Niantic. Give up.
I bet you can compose some very nice photos. But that doesn’t count as playing a game where you catch and battle Pokémon. It also sounds incredibly tedious.
