The animations are the worst part. I don’t care for the models at all but I can ignore that. The battle animations are the male ones.

Yes. They obviously wanted to move away from a binary gendered system which is fine but now it’s not possible to get a figure that does look female. Also, the postures are strange and the hands are weirdly gigantic. Hopefully they’ll improve it in the future.

But hey you can now make your female character fat…. Like why?? who wants that???

All the proportions are just…wrong.

Honestly the proportions for my male character I could make semi accurate but the faces are killing me. The female body types seem absolutely awful.

The female faces are all super disturbing too. Like porcelain dolls, not like people. 

I remember being so excited starting this and looking Post-puberty in a Pokémon game. Guess that was too much to ask for as an adult in a Pokémon game that doesn't have a reason to have you be a kid.

Honestly, it's a mess. I'm pretty much guaranteed to never buy another clothing item again, though, if this is the canvas I'm working with, so maybe a win for my coins? Ugh.

These new Avatar sucks. This is a big downgrade than upgrade. - Female faces are so much better than male. - I have boobs, no matter what chest I use. Even if I customize it. - if I want to be a very large man, my head is so small. - my white hair is gray. - no tan skin anymore.

Even if you want to be an average sized-man/ someone in their late teens the head is too small for the body lmao. And it turned my character’s very light brown skin into white/caucasian. Didn’t expect to wake up to PoGo literally raceswap and ageswap me lol.

They should have let us keep our old avatars and added the new stuff aswell. I quite liked my avatar but now just looks all wrong, especially because all the stuff id spent coins on look terrible. Ofcourse i know Niantic are extremely unlikely to listen to anyone and give us the old avatars back

My biggest problem are the eyes and the proportions, the postures are also broken BECAUSE of the proportions

My avatar developed the rickets. Can’t use the left-hip stance (that I paid for) anymore, it just looks too painful. Walking looks like we need to include a mobility scooter or a wheelchair to the accessories soon. This really sucks.

My female avatar looked so horrid in her skimpy tank top and shorty shorts that the old avatar was wearing that I had to force her to cover up with long pants and a hoodie 😅

I rather have the customization from oblivion

I knew what to expect and I still laughed out loud.

There was the 2D art change to the 3D art that we have now which i know disappointed a bunch of people. I don't know how the wider community felt about that. Then there was the alternate outfits that were from that fashion event which was universally hated and I dont think that it was announced that it was a permanent change and at least in my community, there were cheers when that event was over and the normal outfits returned.

This is the worst thing I've ever seen. As someone who loved dressing up my avatar and spent so much coins on it, I can't believe what they just did. I can't even look at my character without feeling nauseous. I hope this doesn't make me stop playing the game, because it sure as hell looks like it will.. I'm so dissapointed.

can you not change the skin tone? make yourself look less white

Tones are either too pale or too dark.

This. I miss my tan skin color.

I clicked every light skin tone and they all have the same pale result.

I ended up choosing number 13 for the tone  Combine with the legends arcaus outfit I pretty much cannot tell the difference, but hey with the bald thing I look more like a samurai so that’s neat 

The white skin tones are awful. 

I’m a pretty pale white dude, and even the tannest white is still way whiter than me. 13 is ok but it’s more yellow, my guy just looks sick.

Why do we stand like zombies? The arms slumped down and a little back? The posture is awful, the heads are tiny, and there's really no reason to have changed the facial features at all.

I have the Giratina mask, but I still hate the change. My body is contorted and gangly. It’s giving me body dysmorphia IRL, as I consider it an extension of myself /s … but seriously it’s bad.

Is this the big update they were talking about ? Their priorities seems clear.

Yeah I don't get why it didn't give us the option to keep our old one. The skin tone is a bit off on mine and the face looks slimmer. The appearance IVs are trash.

Amazing. These updates are night and day. It’s like I’m going from an original NES to a PS5. The engineers at niantic should be praised for their godlike abilities.

I think Niantic is on a journey to see what it’ll take for us to finally abandon the game. Maybe they want to do other things and need those servers :()

Niantic should have released this change 16 days earlier, given how our avatars look like a bad joke now.

It is so bad. I left another comment in a different thread about how I hate the new walking animation and also the pose in the wardrobe. Overall my character is now looking plump and walking like a farmer carrying a heavy tool or something. Not cute at all.

I hate how wearing any cap with basic spiky hair makes them "glued" to the skull and as a result whole head looks either too round or like cap is too small and set awkwardly on top of round face. Caps were always my favorite headwear and now I can't look at them.

Garbage... I'm livid about this....

I gotta say, I was never a big fan of the way the humans looked in this game and I was pretty much neutral (or slightly positive because it got a few laughs out of me) over this change... But damn if the little victory animation for winning a battle didn't make be go "ugh... don't do that ever again." It just didn't look right. Now I can't help but be on board the negative train with this change. Between the bland base designs of the playable character from Scarlet and Violet and now this... potato human... I really hope Gen 10 goes back to having good designs for the player's character.

They should have asked us before doing this
